Hello from Wilmington, NC (I saw the OBX shirt). I will be 52 next week, so I qualify to be subscribe. I plan on replacing the door seal on my 1965 PA28-140 soon. Thank you so much for taking your time in creating this video and sharing your experience.

The 3m black super weather striping adhesive is the best! Its all I will use. I have had the yellow come loose way too often. Thanks for sharing your video. Keep them coming! Beautiful aircraft you have there!

Not bragging but have been an A&P for 28+ years, and this was hard to watch. Here's a great tip. Apply the contact cement/adhesive to the seal AND to the door, and let BOTH dry to the touch. Yes. Let them dry. You will need some MEK (Methyl Ethyl Keystone) moisten a rag with MEK. It doesn't need to be wet to the point it drips though. VERY lightly wipe the contact cement/adhesive on the door and the seal. Then put the seal on the door. It will bond instantly, and form a much stronger bond. This will make the install MUCH easier, and MUCH less likely to disbond in the future, AND will eliminate the need for any clips, clamps, tape, or anything else to hold the seal in place until the adhesive dries.

Nice, I've done a few old muscle cars over the years looks to be about the same amount of difficulty, which isn't much....just patience.....but "WOW" what a difference afterwards!

Really informative Ted, I am liking this behind the scenes look at the annual process and those things the owner can do.

Well done! I have followed you closely, as I am over 50, and in the same process with a 177RG. You, sir, have a beautiful plane.

I did mine a few years ago. Cleaning the old glue was the hardest part.

Replacing door seals is not listed in Far 43 appendix A, so I’m not sure it’s one of the things a pilot owner can do on his own. I’m not an expert, so please point me in the right direction if I’m wrong. I did my door seals under the supervision of a licensed mechanic, who signed it off.

Same here- it is something the owner can do - I had my mechanic supervise me as well- just to make sure- thanks for watching!
