Wait, no one else talks either?? As someone else commented, it sounds like the dialogue should've gone out when he loses his voice/hearing. I still hope to check this one out at home, since I like Joel as an actor a lot. He's awesome in Suicide Squad and Altered Carbon!

      Correct. No one talks!

@@AdamDoesMovies Yeah, that could work thematically or for just the main character if done right, but it does kind of sound like a gimmick when everyone else is also silent. Like, neat, silent films existed 100 years ago haha.

This would have made more sense if his hearing was going in and out. Also why the f**k does no one else speak in this film?? Are they mute now too, wtf John Woo, you have made great films, what happened here!?!??! Joel Kinnanmon is honestly the only part that was ant good, he's underrated in my opinion.

I don't get it either. It was silent before he lost his voice. Just an odd choice all around.

I hated Silent Night, I think it sucks. John Wick is a much better revenge movie, but I respect your opinion Adam. It's cool you think it's alright to each his own.

The last great movies Woo made were the Red Cliff movies, and in those he showed he can handle large-scale epic battle sequences, so it kind of sucks his return to Hollywood is gonna come and go without much fanfare. I thought this worked better than most others seem to, but hopefully it’s a tune-up for his upcoming American remake of The Killer

Didn’t realize they made a gun that fired a caliber of bullet so low, even at point-blank range it wouldn’t go through your neck (severing your spine) but just deep enough to boo-boo your vocal cords. Oh, and just wound your abdomen, not turn it into mush. 🙄

i'm with you on this film, i felt like the idea of making a movie with no dialogue just because the main character can't talk anymore is good, but after 1 hour it becomes boring, i liked it in some moments, like when he remembers his son defore the shoooting, and when he is on his son's bed, but when he recalls more of the same is what made me feel tired. 2 times was good, but remembering 4 times kind of the same was unnecesary.
it would've been good to see more of his wife and the detective changing his mind, but i think that would add more time to the movie.
i wanted at least some minutes of people trying to talk to him. 😢the end was good though.
about the gansters, they did good on picking them, all of them looked so fricking intimidating.

This film should be categorized as an Independent Experimental Art film where John Woo is trying new grounds and props on him for taking such challenging task…..

At the minute when the dad stares at the chick with the automatic gun, there was twenty minutes left, I couldn't bare watching anymore of this looooong movie. Your review is perfectly spot on.

The final kill was a let down. The fight with Ruiz (the big enforcer) should have been the final boss scene.

They should have had other characters talk… why didn’t anyone else speak?? Also Godzilla showing up in the end credits was CRAZY. Great twist.
