Salt and Sanctuary - Best Salt Farming! 1,000,000 Salt in 30 Minutes!
This is also the best place to farm Lord's Orders, King's Orders, Shimmering Pearls and gold in the game. This video was captured in New Game Plus.

I'm pretty sure I found the best place to farm with a Faith Build, or even just access to level four prayers.
If you cast searing Ray at the Dome of the Forgotten sanctuary, when facing the altar from the left, you will kill four whispermen, immediately netting you 1600 gold ( before any increase modifiers ) without even having to move from the sanctuary.
This means that you can do it every 3 seconds on average, with a potential salt gain of 1936 per casting, coming out to about 649 salt per second, 38920 salt per minute, or 2335200 per hour.
the only catch is that occasionally you will have to go upstairs and grab all the loot that doesn't despawn, or your game will crash from the sheer number of items up there. I've got so many damn whisperman's ashes you'd think Yellowstone erupted.
On the plus side you get a lot of drowned idols and stained Pages out of it.. but if you're just in it for the salt, maybe don't put down a stone guide.
