I agree. For crying out loud there's a cartoon called Invader Zim that was only aired for 1.5 seasons 11 years ago but it's fandom has stayed strong enough to have two conventions in the past 2 years. If that can last ponies will stay around a long time.
Actually no... With as many fiction writers out there as there are, Someone will take charge again, Just as Faust did... You have animators like Black Gryph0n Who isnt even on the animation team but does it just like the show does... This fandom will never die. It will live on throughout the generations and be passed down hand to hand by any other self respecting brony who has a passion for making people happy. I will never understand why haters want this to stop if it spreads so much happiness.
I am confident that if the show were to be canceled tomorrow, the community would still be producing original content for decades to come. Ponies have become self-generating. After 2 only short years, Bronydom has reached the critical mass of having fan-art that has it's own fan-art.
And lest we forget, this is HASBRO. The company that makes its living from digging through toyboxes and nostalgia. After FiM wraps-up, it's a given that Gen.5 will follow it, probably sooner rather than later. We caught them off-guard, but they won't just sweep thousands of potential consumers under the rug. My guess is, just like the mainstay Autobots and Joes, we can probably expect some incarnation of the Mane 6 from now on.
well of course nothing lasts forever, but while it has been around, it's created more content than almost any fandom ever, and has influenced artists and writers to find their inner talents. by the time the pony fandom is over, it will have created many successful people who will go on to be professionals. Sim here should be able to make a career, he updates ALL the time, and he has a good eye for creation. that's a must in the music industry :)
Sim does use FL, as do I. FL also takes a lot of time to figure out, since there's so many options (I use the Producer Edition, so no clue if its really much different than normal FL). When I started I used Acoustica Mixcraft 6, which was as easy as plugging in a synth and playing, then editing the midi tracks to fix any mistakes.
I wouldn't compare it that way, since today we have way better/easier technology to create our own music and videos then back in the day. So i would only consider content that was able to be prodiced back in the day for the comparison how big the difference is. =)
Still is, the fandom has even created a group that Nick and the cast and crew of the show have said could very possibly bring back the show next year! XD

Few famous people have left the fandom, like Veggie55, but many of the now famous brony artists dont want to leave because they owe so much to the fandom- the support, help and everything has provided an ideal place for creative people. Archie V is an exception, he seems to want to erase his pony past, makes him seem like a real douchebag IMO
The fandom will crumble, there's no avoiding that. There may no longer be Brony conventions, but there will always be Pony. Whether it's someone making a song on a nostalgia trip or another person drawing an original picture out of boredom, Bronyism will never die. Take Harry Potter as an example. As soon as the last movie came out, the fandom went silent, but it's still there. It's alive, you just need to look for them. That will be Bronies. We'll always be.
I dunno. Sure it won't be as strong, but it most definitely won't crumble. Just look at any fandom. Fandoms lasted decently, and people as passionate as the bronies will probably make it last even longer...

I can't answer for Sim specifically, but most brony musicians use FL Studio or Ableton. FL is really easy for a beginner to start with.
