The end result looks very nice, and the rivets are certainly a cheap. on the fly, option. But if I were spending the money on nice wood, I would have would have upgraded to some small steel dowel pins and plastic washers for the base to ride/float on. Otherwise, nicely done mister!
I used to build Plantation Shutters when I worked in a mill and it was always a satisfying feeling when we finished the orders and each shutter worked with ease. Kudos to this man for taking it to the next level.⭐

I'd probably try to use quarter inch or five sixteenth machine nuts and bolts instead of the rivets, which don't seem sturdy enough for that application. On the end grain, install a flat metal bracket for the bolt to pass through to prevent wear and potential split out. 🤔
There's literally no force on anything here, this'll work just fine. I wouldn't have done it like this, but it'll work for a long time. Sure, if you run into it it'll break loose, but those boards would probably snap anyway.
Yeah, it’s obviously flimsy from the video and is definitely more so in person. The brackets are a great idea for not having to ever rip the whole thing out or replace a board when the one of those pine boards cracks or breaks from something bumping it or kids or something.

Rivets are very durable and would definitely out last wooden pegs. I'm no carpenter by far but I can customize vehicles. I manually popped 250 rivets in a L88 Corvette hood scoop once; trust me. The inventor didn't have me in mind 😅
@@barnes29510you used the rivets for what they're intended for; to be compressed until they create a solid pinch point to which the shaft will snap off. This should work on this guy's end, over time the wood will dry out and run the risk of splintering in that spot. That or the holes will expand over time for rubbing on that rivet. Just to be clear for everyone else as well, those rivets the installer used looked aluminum.

Wood drying out causing splintering? What? What does it matter if the rivet is aluminium? Are you worried about galvanic corrosion between the steel pin? Look up commercial window shutters, they use plastic pins that aren't that much thicker than that steel pin.

Es buena idea lo que presenta, pero alguien me dijo" debes de ocupar herramientas y herrajes adecuados al trabajo, ejemplo los clavos con cabeza para una mesa le quitan valor a una madera fina. Al girar la madera debería llevar un eje mas largo, abajo y el otro un poco más corto y un grosor proporcional en la cual también al girar la tabla gire el herraje y no la tabla, es decir la tabla entra a precion y el firo lo daría digamos los tornillos. Tomar encuenta: Peso - altura - Ancho- Volumen y sacar atraves de una fórmula la fuerza que ejercerá cada tabla. Los remaches se van a doblar.😢. Nooooo!!! . Tan solo al entrar a precion y las tablas delgadas se van a ir doblando.

Nice work, the wood looks like it set you back a fair old bit, tropical hardwood is not cheap anymore, if I was to build that I think I’d of maybe upgraded the rivets to stainless steel dowels , that wood if brought in the U.K. would set you back about £250 -£300 . Wood is just so damn expensive these days . Nice build well thought out something so simple that has practical use.
Now, just add a horizontal stick that connects to all the slat to move all the slats with one move of the stick. Attach with small wire loops on the bar and slats.
You could add a little tie bar across the top or bottom so they all opened at the same angle.

Literally attach a long horizontal piece of wood to each board with hinges. Doesn't have to be big and bulky a small one will do.
Install horizontal louvers adding an adjustment strip down one side to adjust louvers

Add a couple of parts and have it open and close via remote control. Use a cell to blue tooth control . About $200.

Просто соединить их снизу достаточно, повернув одну доску, повернутся и остальные

I hope you used aluminum rivets. Steel rivets will rust and might leave rust rings or runoff at the top hinges.
