Just follow the career of Edward Bernays, it might seem like a rise, but its really 100 yrs old. he created a culture of narcissists to create an easily controlled democracy, goes back to Woodrow Wilson and he worked with every president up to Eisenhower. He created the capitalism/communism dichotomy, even though its completely false. China is a communist country that practices capitalism, they aren't mutually exclusive. Most talking points you head repeated by boomers go straight back to Bernays. The problem is film and tv were used to brainwash generations, enter the 21st century and they don't hold the same place in the lives of most people under 50 that are overworked, underpaid, trapped in a constant re-certification cycle. There are attempts to control social media, like Peter Thiel's IDW, but they aren't working as well as they hoped, I think Thiel has scrapped the IDW, Joe Rogan seems to have gone rogue, and Sam Harris has all but disappeared.
The rise of a sort of collective narcissism has also been linked in scientific literature to the (effects of) decades of neoliberal policies/government across the globe. In a nutshell, it has to to with a combination with a decrease in social cohesion, social security and a rise of individualism and a misplaced faith in meritocracy. This has led to a fear of interdependence and a belief that if good things happen to you, you must have earned it through your actions (and if someone else is less lucky, this person is to blame for their own predicament). Plus it created a culture to eat before one is eaten, fake it till you make it, etc. The perfect breeding ground for narcissism. This is why it is so important to vote for Bernie Sanders in 2020.
he is having TIA's, multiple small strokes that are impacting his ability to function. He is literally losing his mind, and i am not going to discount Alzheimer or dementia. For a short time afterwards, her speech was slurred, not like his, her intellectual ability remained the same. After the effects of the mini-stroke wore off, she was perfectly fine. At least until she suffered a massive stroke. In the first couple of years after that stroke, even though she was confined to a wheelchair, she'd fix her hair as best she could, put on her make-up and she tried very hard to do the daily crossword puzzle, something she'd done for 25 years or more. She still got the answers right, she simply couldn't put them in the right place, I don't know if that was visually or something else. But, we kept her at home until congestive heart failure began. She remained with us another tough year.

During a surgery, to try and remove the tumor, there, Mama’s heart stopped beating. Back in the day, medical procedures were a bit primitive, compared with today’s Medical Care. So, the Drs couldn’t get her heart started again, and she (I think) just slipped away. At least, that’s what I tell myself, anyway. I read your message, and felt that I needed to reach out to you. I saw my mother's cognitive decline when she had early onset Alzheimer's. She was the sweetest, hardest working, most graceful, classy lady I have ever known. There was a time when she became almost unbearably hateful and ill tempered. The confusion and frustration makes people with dementia do uncharacteristic things. Trump is truly in cognitive decline. It is sad that the establishment GOP and his power hungry kids do not step in and start guiding him to the sideline while it is possible to maintain some kind of self dignity. They should take a page from the Reagan's playbook. Donald Trump will not be mentally stable enough to execute his duties if he wins 4 more years. Considering how quickly he has declined, it won't be long before it will be undeniable though. By the time Trump's impeachment trial reaches the Senate, he will making big enough blunders, that he will expose what the GOP is working hard to.cover up. This is how Donald Trump could get away with all his dirt. I am sure he has convinced himself the phone call was "perfect". Most likely he doesn't remember all the call. There has to be someone close to him "managing" him personally by now. I've always thought that's why Ivanka there - to soothe the beast. Alzheimer's is no joke. This doctor has indeed described cognitive decline and Donald Trump has it.
People have been enabling Donald Trump's narcissism (and I suspect his father had no shortage of enablers, too) during his entire life. In my opinion the enablers of destructive narcissists should be held equally responsible for the damages done by their narcissistic leader.

While I do agree strongly that the president suffers from mental illness (malignant narcissistic personality disorder), I believe the recent hospital visit was for acid reflux. The president's obesity, high fat diet and drinking of diet Coke daily - an acidic beverage - has resulted in acid reflux which can also cause chest pains. Further, the issuance times of his Tweets would also seem to indicate a sleep disorder. The bottom line is that the president is mentally ill - he immediately reverts blame for his actions upon his enemies, he lies incessantly and never admits wrongdoing or errors - and because he is so unstable and so in violation of the U.S. Constitution in his actions and beliefs that the MUST be impeached. Trump is a threat to the nation's democratic traditions and to the world. IMPEACH TRUMP.
My grandma had Lewy body dementia. She had a very high IQ to begin with though. Lewy body is more common in high IQ people and it first manifests as a violent schizophrenia-like disorder rather than just becoming feeble minded and forgetful like Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer’s starts to show signs as early as in one’s twenties; those who end up getting it in the future already have a reduced vocabulary compared to their peers.
He has no character morals common sense or anything of value. Dump this piece of trash now. He s dangerous as hell. America deserves better tgan tjis even his supporters deserve better. They got conned by a criminal conartist.

Dr. John, can you write a book about the rise in narcissism in our country and how it relates to a narcissistic president and his blind followers? 🙂
Or just come back on...and do a talk😊
I am not a psychiatrist; am retired psychiatric social worker, but was married to a man with serious Narcissistic PERSONALITY DISORDER. 14K mental health pros have opined that dt has Malignant NPD, the worst level of NPD. I concur and wrote a book to help non-mental health pros to recognize it sooner. Amazon has the book available "Red Flags Matter; I was his Crooked Hillary, Weak Obama and Fake News".
He already has.
Sudafed from the UK when used in excess is a helluva drug.

Were you close with your Dad? It IS really difficult for us, the living, to have to Lose someone who we expect to stick around. I lost my Dad, too. When I was 16. I became an Orphan, then. Enough about me. Sorry.
Tell me, please, what’re the symptoms associated with the mini-strokes? I read the last few lines of your comment, so, I got it. So, uncontrollable Rage, Irrational thoughts, and, uh, Alzheimer’s-like Loss of Self (extreme memory loss). Is that correct? Trump has never been fit to be President. Its just much more obvious AND much worse, now. Dayum! Trump is what, now? He’s uh, 73 years old. Makes sense. Have u seen the videos of Trump, as a younger man, yet? The difference between them, is like night and day, I tell you. His speech, as a young guy, sounds 147% better than his speech of Today. He used to have a slightly bigger vocabulary, spoke in sentences, not in fragments, as he does today, no repetitions. Still dumb as a box of rocks, back then, as he is now.

She still got the answers right, she simply couldn't put them in the right place, I don't know if that was visually or something else. But, we kept her at home until congestive heart failure began. She remained with us another tough year.
Robin Addis-Vaughn, Aw, Robin, man! I’m so sorry for your Loss, Dear. I’m really sad for you and your Family, having to deal with your Mama’s passing. Whoa, what a lot you’ve gone through! Did she have an easy, peaceful time of her passing? I hope that she did.
Your memory reminds me of the Loss of my Mama, when I was 9 years old. She had a brain tumor.
My major, when I first went, was Psychology, as well. I minored in English, if I remember correctly (?).
Again. My condolences to you and your family, Robin, for the Loss of your Mama. May she RIP...
@@traekas7228 Thank you so much for your kind words. No, her passing wasn't easy. She'd fought breast cancer & kicked its ass for 22 years but she suffered a massive stroke. Then an idiot cardiologist was trying to scope her to see the back of her heart and tore a 2cm hole in her esophagus and she was bleeding out, we had 15 minutes to get her to a trauma hospital before she bled out. They got her there in 13 minutes, she was rushed into emergency thorax surgery. She fought for another 5 plus years before dementia and her heart began to fail. Congestive heart failure is awful. For a week, we watched her basically drown. I didn't stay for her last breath but she was surrounded by people who had decided to show up. I wanted my last memory to be of her peacefully sleeping. She did reach that point and I left. My last memory was of her sleeping. My other family members haven't forgiven me yet and it's been 7 years. This past Saturday, my oldest brother who is severely physically and mentally handicapped and had developed gout, my 2nd oldest brother finally showed up and for 84lbs, he fought hard but we got him to the ER. I'm 10 years younger than my brothers, I am the oops baby, the one not meant to be, but my father, who died 9 months after my mother had me promise to look after him. J & I have a special bond. It took 3 of us to hold him down and still enough to get an IV started. It turned out that he also had pneumonia. He never coughed once. I never left his side until 5 am Wednesday morning. I left because I had a doctor's appointment and I needed sleep. I have lupus and found out in September that I have leukemia. I cried the entire way to the doctor, I made a wrong turn, and I backed up and hit a power pole cracking my brand new 2019 Accord Sport. I hadn't put gas in it yet. I was 30 minutes late and cried the entire time. I asked my other brother if J could stay with him until Saturday because I was close to a nervous breakdown. I was shaking on the inside, fear, sleep deprivation, guilt for leaving him 5 hrs early, will mess you up. He's okay and I slept until 5pm today. I still feel guilty for enjoying not being responsible for another human being for just a few days. J is inaudible, I understand him best. My other brother doesn't help much but he did this week, thankfully. I'm sure your mama went very peacefully, she was sedated and death is very quick in such situations. J had open heart surgery about 50 years ago, I don't remember much. But, he's my 1st best friend. Merry Christmas and let's remember those we lost with love and fun at this time of year. And, may we be grateful for the ones we didn't lose. Happy Holidays and God Bless!
I cannot stand Donald Trump, but if this is indeed what he has (and not just an Adderall and Sudafed addiction) I will actually muster some pity.
This doctor has indeed described cognitive decline and Donald Trump has it.
People have been enabling Donald Trump's narcissism (and I suspect his father had no shortage of enablers, too) during his entire life. In my opinion the enablers of destructive narcissists should be held equally responsible for the damages done by their narcissistic leader.
sorry this is a low blow...early onset Alzheimer's ...yes could run in your family...good luck with that. sorry that was just mean...im sure you are ok...dont worry....hahaha
That childish crossed arms pose that he so habitually reverts to is so telling. He's a 73 year old become the 6 year old he very likely was. " I'm not doing it, and you can't make me. "
I find it amazing that people will still vote for him in November 2020
Nicholas Thompson right???? scary
A meth binge can have exactly the same symptoms. Just sayin'.
reality too every time one steps out there door it is a freak show out there
Kevin Jones TRUTH!! ... you summed this whole video in one statement. I’m surprised so many are confused 🤷♂️
@@jameshumphrey9939 Isn't it mostly a freak show for people with empathy? Trump has none.
Curious, are there many meth/drug users that are Obese 🤔
I thought Meth made you thin?
I really enjoyed this segment. I watched it twice and passed it around. SO informative. Thanks David and @JohnDGartner
Alzheimer's. This has been obvious to me for a year now. My mother has it.
Trump's ailment is more likely neurosyphilis.
My grandma had Lewy body dementia. She had a very high IQ to begin with though. Lewy body is more common in high IQ people and it first manifests as a violent schizophrenia-like disorder rather than just becoming feeble minded and forgetful like Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer’s starts to show signs as early as in one’s twenties; those who end up getting it in the future already have a reduced vocabulary compared to their peers.
melissa 3.141 That must be tough ❤️
He has no character morals common sense or anything of value. Dump this piece of trash now. He s dangerous as hell. America deserves better tgan tjis even his supporters deserve better. They got conned by a criminal conartist.
Syphilis brain damaged racist bigoted moron is a better description.
Lol, that thumbnail pic.
Looks like he said "I'm going to hold my breath til I get my border wall."
How I wish......
"What do you mean doctor?..I'm perfect!..Listen to my phone calls!"
There's also the fact that he is constantly underslept and he's taking uppers and downers type medicine not found in the U.S.; That said, he's lacking R.E.M. sleep which can make people act drunk, paranoid, and imitate schizophrenia. He's a mess. Then he's surrounded by enablers to top it off.

He needed to write that no quid pro quo thing because that call never happened. He had to write what he "said" because he never said those things. And to be sure he got the fake story correct.
Lack of anxiety, fear, humor are symptoms of sociopathy.
Nah, he has fear and anxiety. He probably has narcissistic personality disorder. Combined with drug abuse and a low IQ.
His I Q is already very low. He can't afford much of a drop.
Thank you for having this doctor on again. It's nice to have the same person review the decline of this man's mind over these horrible years. It is so sad that no one will step up and put grandpa in a home. He's a danger to himself and others.
If his goal is to get rid of everyone who might possibly disagree with him, who will that leave?
AMERICANS...
Seems like the entire republican party. If they all go down with trump, the country, the world, will be better off.
I think there are lots of Republicans in Congress who disagree with him. They just won't say anything in public.
@@tims8603 So what good are they if they won't speak up? The few that have spoken up because they're retiring still end up voting with the party. I'm sure you are right, but if they don't react to the burning of the Constitution... well, you get my point. It's discouraging.
@@elgieswift3498 I don't know why they won't say anything. I think they're afraid of his base but there may be other reasons too. Maybe they're being blackmailed or bribed.
Yeah. I'm going with trump having had a panic attack. Some itsy bitsy
part of his subconcious is aware that he is in serious trouble this time and has virtually nobody he can rely on to take care of him but his lawyers. With no daddy figure, he becomes more and more childish without a grown up
whose judgment he trusts to advise him. Poor Donnie. His chickens have come home to roost but he's torn down the hen house.
David, I just want to thank you and your guest for a very insightful and concerning article.
Unless Agent Orange starts throwing feces in front of media, his Toxic Toadies will contnue to declare him a "stable genius"
soon to be Cruzer55 even then they would probably still be besotted. His followers are delusional, foolish people.
Because he is Methed out of his F ing mind people ask the drug addiction professionals, I swear!
