I think some of these plugins are good enough that you never need to upgrade to a paid version. I've been experimenting with the Analog Obsession plugins lately and to me, they seem pro in their sound quality, even if their graphic interfaces aren't as fancy. People listening to the final mix of the song probably won't know that you didn't have a graphic of tape reels spinning on your tape plugin. 😄
I often get the paid versions of things out of appreciation, for example the Tokyo Dawn Labs plugins, but find myself reaching for the free versions because the most useful settings and features are often in the free version, and sometimes the GUI is simpler giving me some constraint so I don't go down some rabbit hole trying every button and knob and realize I'm still tweaking the snare!
And this is why i'm subscribed to Zane! Helpful free alternatives for us hobby/poor bedroom composers! 😄 (P.S. Personally, i've found that Melda's MAutoPitch does a better job of natural-sounding pitch-correction versus Graillon.)
I was going to add MAutoPitch. I don’t remember why I chose not to. I think it’s because the big red bar in the melda stuff always makes me feel like I shouldn’t be using the free versions of their plugins. I agree it works great just doesn’t feel welcoming to me. Thank you for watching. Keep creating! 👊👍
@@AudioTechTV Haha i know what you mean, i feel the same, & a couple of their UI features are locked as well (resizing for example, if i'm not mistaken). But at this moment i like MAutoPitch & MCompressor enough to put up with those annoyances haha.
these vids are awesome!!! Thank You!, Is there an alternative to the LA 2a or Pultec EQ? i use these in With my Uad but was wondering if there was something close to it
@@AudioTechTV - One of the reasons I initially went with Reaper is that I could still use all those cool free VST's w/out a wrapper! I have the Waves Gold, plus lots of other paid-for plugs, but I'll bet at least 1/3 of the plugs I use in any given mix is a freebie.
Lots of companies give away great quality plugins, particularly I use the ones from Klanghelm, TDR (Nova, Kotelnikov and Slick Eq) Acustica Audio (Coffee de pum, baxeq, Tan Compressor), Frontier from D16 is a fantastic compressor/limiter/softclipper. The SonEq of Sonible
Great video but anyone knows if there's any free alternatives to cla-3a? I love this compressor but I can't find anything free to replace it yet. Thanks
I haven't had an issue with that one or any of the Smack Labs plugins. Did you double check to make sure you installed it to the correct folder for your DAW?
What was the name of the tune playing through the Tonebooster tape plugin?, it's an extremely catchy song. Also can't see a link or option to download that free tape plug in on their website mate, it's not listed in their products...
It is on their site. V3 plugins are legacy plugins so it's in the legacy download section. You can check out the full song here ruclips.net/video/YTmw3xfeSMs/видео.html I appreciate the feedback on it. It was one of those songs that just hit me suddenly and came together super quick. Lots of fun. Thank you for watching. Keep creating! 👊👍
I am having a lot of trouble relinking missing files in a project. The files are all there, but when I select the lost files nothing happens. Any chance you can make a video about this or point me towards one?
Kick2 is pretty unique in its approach. You can do similar things with a sampler and grabbing some good quality kick samples. Your DAW might come with a sampler. You can also try the Grace sampler (it’s free) or the older version of Sitala is still free. Another option you might want to try is using the free MPC Beats to design your kicks and drum sounds. There are some excellent tools in there.
I've often wondered if the free plugins are secretly ruining our mixes. I use some free plugins, but I wonder if the paid ones were created with more care. Maybe we are adding some unwanted sibilance with a free plugin?
These days, there are sooo many high quality free plugins & promotional freebies & DAWS that cracking is absolutely no longer needed, & will prove to be an even a greater hassle, because many of these free alternatives can be conveniently/easily updated (especially through official software managers/portals like Native Access) without having to re-install & re-crack them! 😉
If you got to the link that I included bit.ly/TB_Legacy you'll see a section that says "Where Can I find Older (Legacy V3) Plug-Ins?" Click on that and you'll see the link to the V3 plugin installer. If you still need help, check out this video ruclips.net/video/5fffEP5-N5o/видео.html where I show you how to grab them.
@@ErixSamson Yes the legacy plugins are all VST 2. Other than Cubase removing VST2 support what other DAWs have done this? I use several DAWs and haven't heard of any of them removing VST2 support. Only Cubase.
