Pls remember to never overfish male sheepheads. They are vital to keeping the purple Sea urchin population down. Which are eating kelp at an alarming rate recently.
Agreed man. I rarely take them, and this was also on a very isolated reef, which actually no urchin population nearby.
It's a whole different world down there.

Just a fishing license for spear fishing and an additional lobster license for getting lobsters!

nice sheephead and dam. no gloves if you get a chance go out from the channel and bust a left around 200yd there is a wreck area or go to Santa Monica break wall is awesome to dive there.

Where in Redondo Beach is this spot? I'm thinking about getting into the sport, but am a newbie. Looks like you entered from a jetty and ended up on a beach?

Hey, looking to get into spearfishing in San Diego. Any recommendations on wetsuit thickness and a good starter speargun?
Hey man! The best place you can go for gear is spearamerica. For wetsuits I would definitely go with a 5mil and up year round. 3 mil in the very warm summer days if you’d like. And 7 mil for anything norcal. I have the pathos 5.5mil 2 piece and I love it, has held up nicely. As for spearguns, I’ve always used riffe, but pathos is another great brand that’s lower price point. Riffe is kind of expensive

Yeah it’s usually really bad. This day had exceptionally good vis actually the camera didn’t pick it up too good though
