    For the first team, you can improve their survivability even further by changing Alain's tactics for using Luminous Cover.
    The problem with just having it set to "Front Row" is that Alain can jump in and "waste" the cover on attacks that Travis could have used Evade for anyway, and then Alain might not have any PP available to protect Travis from ACTUAL threats like an archer with True Strike (plus Alain takes a bit of damage himself with the Cover when Travis would have taken 0 damage with Evade anyway).
    I would suggest adding 2 entries for Luminous Cover. For each, you can keep your "Front Row" filter condition for Condition1 (or, if you later add more things to the front row, change it to just "Scout" assuming Travis is your only Scout). But for Condition2, for one of them set it to only activate if the target has 0 PP. This means it will only activate in this case when Travis (the target in this case) has 0 PP and thus can't use Evade. Then, for the other one set Condition 2 to "Attack Type->Attacked by Archer", so it will only activate when enemy attacking Travis is an archer. This will prevent Alain from wasting cover prematurely on attacks Travis could Evade anyway.
    You could also set a 3rd one that is filtered to Back Row only to cover the case where an enemy targets Chloe directly to bypass Travis, if you were really worried about that. Can also use this setup on a Hoplite+Thief combo with Heavy Cover if you are already using Alain for another unit.

    I see so many people using the tactic option "lowest %hp" which at the start of battle all enemies will be tied at 100%, meaning the first person to attack will default to who is in front of them (and could have the highest HP out of anyone). "Lowest hp" would be better so all your units try to get kills off faster by all attacking the weakest unit until dead and repeat.

    i wanna mention that travis is actually a great pick for the runic sword as his base magic atk is higher than his base phys atk, plus his growths for both are the same so it's likely to stay that way. He also benefits from having a high potency attack skill as both of his other skills are low total potency (100 for passive steal and 50 for toxic throw).

    • @ultimaterecoil1136
      @ultimaterecoil1136 10 месяцев назад

      Except a lot of the time he’s just gonna be using steal passive points anyway cus he may need the extra uses of evade or the stealing of passive points may net more damage anyway by stealing guards or gladiators heals. And vs high defense targets poison is already pretty solid especially if you have a stun in your party ( for example crush from the axe your first hustcarl starts with or a fighter later on) and it will only get better when the enemies get stronger and thus use more actions and get more poison triggers. A lot of the time you are using runic sword to supplement a unit’s armor damage and a unit that already has a form of that needs that less then say a fighter alain or even josef is a better user of the runic sword ( especially when factoring in the extra healing power it gives). You’d just use toxic throw when armors are present and give the runic sword to some other unit who needs the supplement vs armors.

    • @provenceenjoyer6261
      @provenceenjoyer6261 10 месяцев назад

      @@ultimaterecoil1136 Stealing guards from armored units is significantly less useful than just killing them outright witb one hit, and armors have a high enough guard rate that stealing pp from them is unreliable at best.
      I also find that more guaranteed evades on travis aren't really needed, as enemies have such low accuracy stats this early in the game theyre extremely unlikely to hit him and if he does get hit, you know beforehand from the battle preview and can strategize around that by either setting a back row unit to guard him or just using a second front row unit since if you don't use either, a thief is just gonna die to the first hunter or swordfighter they run into.
      As for the poison point, you aren't wrong, but that hinges on the idea that later game enemies won't also potentially have poison immunity, while damage will always be reliable.
      poison also (from what I've seen) might be a % of max hp which would mean it's less likely to kill a unit from full hp in one battle than burn and unlike burn it can't stack for more damage.

    • @provenceenjoyer6261
      @provenceenjoyer6261 10 месяцев назад

      I'm also not saying passive steal and toxic throw are useless, just that the situations theyre useful in are niche, meaning i treat them more like True Thrust where they're an alternate option if the go to strategy doesn't work. (gladiators are a great usage for passive steal for example)

    • @ultimaterecoil1136
      @ultimaterecoil1136 10 месяцев назад

      @@provenceenjoyer6261 yeah but how often is there only 1 enemy so you don’t need an additional evade. Even if you stack evade on them to hopefully dodge once you run out of evade common setups later on will half the time get a hit through and kill the thief even when you are stealing passive points. Granted that’s what the off tank is for in lineups relying on a dodge tank as their main tank but without that extra passive point that fighter that is mainly just there to prevent archers from being problematic for your thief since fighters are far worse at being the primary tank then hopilites is just gonna be the main tank at that point since with just 1 passive point theif ain’t gonna cut it unless the enemy is noticeably inaccurate and at that point they aren’t worth fielding for since they have bad damage

    • @provenceenjoyer6261
      @provenceenjoyer6261 10 месяцев назад

      @@ultimaterecoil1136 yeah thieves do have bad damage, and you know what makes them not have bad damage? using the runic blade.
      also if fighters are a worse primary tank than hoplites then just run a hoplite. keep them in the front line where they can soak up the hits that don't miss, then you can put them in the back lane if there's an enemy caster so travis can soak up all the magic attacks by either dodging them or tanking them with his high base mag def if the dodge fails.
      also if you think one guaranteed evade is only going to let you evade one attack from a group of 3 or 4 then how low is your travis's evasion? mine usually doesn't need the evade at all, or triggers on the 3rd or 4th attack. (just using the silken scarf for evasion, as his accessory slots are extremely flexible, and he has two.)

    1st Team. Some alternative conditions i'd recommend for people wanting to build it
    Travis (Thief) -
    1. Front Line, Lowest Guard Rate (To try and avoid him not being able to steal PP from high guard rate tanks)
    2. Back Line, Most PP (Most wont have guard here so you just want to steal the most you can)
    (Alternatively set 2. 3. 4. To be PP >3, >2, >1) (Steals in order of Most to least)
    5. Back Line, Least HP (Prioritize killing when nothing to steal)

    Cannot wait until the full game is out so I can play without the anxiety of not wasting a single second.
    As far as these team comps... it's not that I don't think these teams are good... but I feel sort of conditioned to maximize XP for hard carries so I'm trying to build teams around units I think might have longer term potential. Also esp. when we're saying things like "you can teleport" I'm just thinking "I want that valor for stealing so I can buy more equipment for my hard carries earlier" or "I want to use that valor to increase my XP on battles"... I think the demo battles on expert are mostly not so hard that you can't make sacrifices like not running units that you know will fall off, not using your valor for XP/Gold.
    What I'm wondering about is if custom units are just objectively better than story units outside of unique classes due to the custom growth rates vs. needing to pay a large amount to modify story story units growth rates. (outside of units with unique classes)

    • @Rubikant
      @Rubikant 10 месяцев назад

      The only time it matters is if both Condition1 and Condition2 are SORTs, in which case, the target list is sorted by Condition1 first and then Condition2 (meaning, essentially, that Condition2 has priority). Otherwise it doesn't matter. I posted a giant comment explaining how it really works in depth on the video about tactics posted today if you want to know more. Though at first it appears to be an "IF cond1 AND cond2" system, in actuality it is a "list -> check/sort/filter1 -> check/sort/filter2 -> use top of list (or skip if empty)" system.

      Lex, Travis, Gryphon (With Freeze on attacks - Can't remember which class / weapon can provide this). Lex covers both of their weakness (Archers) and if you give him a magic weapon he can deal with the tanks that is the main issue for Travis. Then if you make the Gryphon fast enough it can render the backline not an issue then Travis gets easy dodges against frontliners with the exception of a true-striking knight
