It did not work for me... In my file, it did not say md5, but rather 'scram-sha-256'. In any case, I replaced that with 'trust' and followed all the steps, but as I said, it did not work... I ended up removing and reinstalling postgres and pgAdmin
i tried to do it but it does not display the ALTER ROLE it just makes another line with postgres in the sql shell instead of md5 it is scram i already tried doing all of them to trust and i tried doing only the host to trust but still does not work. help?
my config file was 'scram-sha-256' and not 'md5'. When i changed the 'scram-sha-256 to 'trust' , my psql shell would close automatically as soon as I opened it :/ EDIT: worked smoothly once i opened comand line as Admin!
Hi, I am prompted to enter a password after the username line. But not so in the video. I failed to do so. who can help.:( in this way; Server [localhost]: Database [postgres]: Port [5432]: Username [postgres]: Password for user postgres:
Can you please run me through how started the 'shell'? what did you do to bring up the black page after changing to trust? That page got me confused. I'm new to this. Thanks
Try to follow the steps exactly and make sure you do it as the instruction says before making these blunt statements. I gave it another try, and I can confirm that it works. Besides, people being using this instruction and it worked for them. Good luck!

Hi. Mine is also scram-sha-256 but couldn't get the shell
@@bodunwaoluwakorede9698 same here
How do we open the shell
@@gloryihinose3701 the shell is "command prompt" on windows so run that as admin, then type "psql" then then you'll be asked for user and pass
@@redrum4486 I typed psql but it says 'psql' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file
On Mac the data folder is not accessible.
did you solve the problem because i cannot access either
It worked thanks a lot bro
no probs ;)
