It did not work for me...
In my file, it did not say md5, but rather 'scram-sha-256'. In any case, I replaced that with 'trust' and followed all the steps, but as I said, it did not work... I ended up removing and reinstalling postgres and pgAdmin

my config file was 'scram-sha-256' and not 'md5'. When i changed the 'scram-sha-256 to 'trust' , my psql shell would close automatically as soon as I opened it :/ EDIT: worked smoothly once i opened comand line as Admin!
