That HL300s has a time period which the HI alert will engage, .Height of Instrument Alert - unit stops rotating when jarred to avoid erroneous readings. For the first five minutes after the laser self levels, the LED lights are solid then flashes every four seconds to let you know the laser is still level and the HI alert has been activated.

Can spray insulation be used instead of a concrete pour? Will it be strong enough to hold the wall once backfilled and is it ok with rebar betwee block also? Seems that insualtion is cheaper than concrete where i am, and you get a warmer house also if it works.

I am getting ready to pour a 12x8 footer. I am going to build a 5’ cinder block wall around it for a koi pond. I live in Michigan and my yard is pure sand. Do I need to do anything special or can I pour the footer right on the sand? I don’t know if I need some sort of gravel in there first?
Hi Scott -- What city are you near? Are you up north or on the west side of the state? Are you doing a spread footing or trench footing? If you are doing a 12" wide by 8" high spread footing, you don't need any gravel under it. You just want to make sure you are at least 42" deep so you can avoid frost from getting under the footing and lifting it. I hope this helps. Make sure to add water to the concrete, as the sand is going to soak up the water fast and it could dry too quickly.
Reality is a Comedy I am in Monroe county. On the Ohio state line. I have a hole dug 48” deep. The footer will be at the bottom of this hole. I was going to go down 8” and make it 16” wide and reinforce it with 2-3 pieces of rebar along it’s length. Then build the block wall on top the footer with rebar standing up every 4 feet to reinforce the walls. The top of the wall will be 1 foot above ground and the rest buried. My son and his girlfriend are first responders and they are getting married at the end of august and I was hoping to have it done before then. And I turned 50 last week so it’s a gift for myself as well. Hahaha

Go a question when measuring with Lazer level for footing and you are finding different height of slope when you do you put more concrete or don’t dig as deep on lower end to make the footing level before you put the base of blocks or how to make level
You can step up the footing with the grade. Make sure to step up in proper block height measurements so it will land properly. Keep the footing level and then step up as the grade gets higher.
@@joemoritz4420 Is this a trench footing? I usually do not do any forming. All of my work is earth formed. I am located in Michigan - they may do it differently where you are located.
@@joemoritz4420 If you are doing a spread footing, yes you would need to form it in the height of blocks/bricks so that it will gradually go up with the grade, leveling off each step. This way everything will line up when you go to lay the brick/block. Make sure to take into account the mortar joint also.
Yes it’s a trench I just know the ground by house is higher then where the back of my add on will end so I was thinking that maybe not dig back end a little shallower
