This card trick doesn't work if you spectator choose first or second card, but from third one start it works
Something I’ve started doing is when I go to find their card I lay out all the cards face down on the table (like in rows) andI count in my head so I know where the card is. Then I mix up all the cards on the table and make it look really messy but I’m keeping track of the card with both my finger and my eyes and when I find their card in a pile of mixed up ones it’s a really cool effect
When i was going through this trick, i picked up 17 cards as well....

Or at the end of the trick you can just minus your Key Number of cards from the bottom of the deck and the next card will be theirs.

Actually the CARD is at the
(KEY NUMBER + 1) from the bottom. So if your key number is 10 then the card is at the eleventh position from the bottom. And I love the trick. Thanks
yes totally. much easier way to do the trick so you don't have to count the total number, so if anything you don't have to have them cut just a small amount

Great trick my friend I’ve subbed as well. Just one question you said count in your head silently for the selection so does that mean the spec as to count in their head too for the position of the card. 👍😊👍
The spectator counts in their head to get the position of their card correct. All you do is count the cards as you show them all to the spectator so you know how many are in the pack so you can do the math.
I’ve tweaked it a bit. I have the spectator shuffle, deal 4 piles and then pick a pile. Eliminates all the math for me. I already know there are 13 cards, so I don’t need to keep track. I always use 7 as my key number, thus 6 will always be my final number.
what if I use a double undercuts to get the finish looks more impossible???

I performed this trick for my betrothed after watching. i'm not sure how it works but it does, she was as amazed as i was lol.
The first five being put down alters where their card will be. Their card will always be whatever the Key Number is away from the bottom of the deck.
When you are putting the first five or whatever the key number is down you're taking them from the top and bringing them to the bottom of the deck.

Great trick!!... unfortunately I have found people have trouble even remembering what value/suit they have let alone what position or being trusted to adjust the deck :)

@@SonGoku-lc1sb Its selfworking.... You can choose any key number it has to be lower thn the cut out deck so if u choose 5 its the best option..all u have to do is follow the exact method as its self working there is no explaining to how it hapnd

Tried the rick with different positions and found it only works with some. If they choose 1, a key number of 5 will never get down too the second last position

I love this trick but I am having issue when the spectator picks a card that's place value is lower then the key number. I've been using 5 as my key number since that's how it was shown in the demonstration. Anyone else having this issue?
i did it twice and i know i'm doing something wrong but is it a coincidence that both times the card was at the bottom of the pile?

heyyy i really need help... i tried it... it dint work ! i did the follwing
1. thought of a position and card
2. dealt "position" number of cards to bottom
3. subtracted 5 from total cards
4. did not end up with the expected card from the top with number found in step 3.....
pls help :P am i doing sth wrong here

If i were you MLT i would work on your spread and handling ...If you was to do a trick in front of me and do some handles i would question the trick because of movements..Magic should look and be smooth as possible..The way you spread around 3:10 i would of been suspect ..Alot of magicians draw attention when they doing a move and some do it even when not much is being done...

It was just easier to do key # + 1(from the bottom), that way I can change the # each time and not have to worry how many cards were used. Good trick though, thanks.

I think if you are in pub or outside most of people will not like it
if you have a spectator who can remember the suit, value and position of his card, then this means your spectator isn't flat out degenerate. This then means this trick is way too obvious.

I’m very aware that most people said it’s a complicated trick for spectator especially to remember a card and its position. One mistake by spectator would ruined it. However, I don’t see criticism is acceptable for this video. It’s a good trick MLT had to share with us. If you find its hard, then don’t do it.
Anyway, if you still want to do it, I suggest for you to take 10-15 random cards instead of having spectator cut the deck by theirself. Cheers 🤙🏻
I watched the performance and had already a good idea how the trick was done. Quite obvious for an highly observant spectator.. never the less a good and easy to perform trick

That doesn't matter. The only thing you, the magician, care about is your key number and the total number of cards in the pack the spectator cut and are being used in the trick. As long as you instruct the spectator correctly and they follow the instructions correctly, the trick works.

Sorry this is a bit late, but it could because you have nineteen total and he specifies 17 or less in the video. Hopefully that helps~
You can do with 2 total cards with key number of 1. You can do with 100,000 cards with a key number less than 100,000.... but with extremes... they will notice if they chose a small number... it will be way down the pack in the end.

What about the value of face cards?
The value of the card does not matter. Watch again and notice the only thing important about the card they choose is its position from the top. You could do this trick with a stack of old photographs and it would still work.
Just curious why you don't give credit where credit is due to the source of where you learned your tricks, and give the names of the actual trick. There's so shame in sharing, but there is shame in not giving credit.

I feel that you putting the cards down when you reach your key number (1:42) is really confusing and obvious to the spectator, especially as the spectator is having to remember the order of their card and this clearly interferes with the order
I saw the same problem. I deal out the cards in groups of 5 till the end and just make sure I pick them up in the right order to maintain the stack.

There would be a Bigger Impact of the Trick IF there was actually People, Spectators, to show Actual belief and impact of the trick.
Also this trick doesn't work if spectator choose 4th.

Then the trick is hosed, which is why I'm not super in love with this trick. Sure, the trick works itself, but it has a built-in failure mechanism. You've just gotta hope they don't go below your key number, which is lame.
