- It's been a long time coming, but my new home arrived last week 😊 I cannot wait to do up the interior and make this space a liveable home for me and Bonnie. I will also be moving my office into my old bedroom, which means yet another office tour will be happening in the future! 😝

Super super suuuuuuper happy for you! Don't know what else to say except you are such a precious soul and I am so happy you have this real, tangible thing that gives you motivation, hope, and brings further meaning to all your hard work. I am 42 and I have moved back in with my Mum several times as an 'adult'. The most recent time being for a year at about 40 (with my son!). I have no mortgage and no proper career like most of my peers, and I know how easy it is to feel you aren't doing things 'right'. But we are all just trying our best. When you got tearful in the video I was grinning and tearing up right with you because I exactly KNOW the feeling of not being as independent as you want, and the sheer relief and joy that finding a way to get that a little can bring you. Because it is SO HARD these days for younger generations. Your appreciation and gratitude is so humbling and wonderful. I could easily have felt inadequate and jealous (because I too would love a mini home of my own) but I can honestly say your words and attitude are just so sweet and self-aware that I feel nothing but pure joy and excitement for you 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
P.s. my other thought when watching this was... a STATIONERY/CREATIVE TINY HOUSE COMMUNE somewhere!! hehe I would totally be up for that. 😊
Gosh that's exciting! I was in a very similar situation in my 20s, partner at the time did not want to move out of his dads, I couldn't afford anything by myself. So my mom suggested a Narrowboat (i was in Brum at the time) and that was my home for 8 years :) I loved having my own little space so much, i dumped the partner very quickly and made a totally new life for myself - you'll thrive, i know it, there will be ups and downs, - you need a good sense of humor to spend winters in a small space - but you'll love watching the changing seasons from your little window, in your little hut in your own little patch of the world. Thank you for sharing this, it sounds like you made the best decision for yourself. This is exactly what I'm aiming for by taking this route 🥹 the simplicity of the hut life is something I've come to really love.
The window in the roof was one of the most expensive parts of the hut, but I knew it was a nonnegotiable for me. I will get a lot of joy out of stargazing in the evenings and watching the rain/clouds/sunsets fly by.

My current bedroom is actually the smallest room in the house 😅 but i have downsized a lot craft wise (in the hopes that i'll get through more of the supplies I've kept!) and I have quite an attachment to this room as it was my first bedroom when we moved here. So it will be very cosy, but it also gets the best sunshine throughout the day. My current room with my office is quite cold as its on the north side of the house, so the rest of the house kinda hides it from much sunshine!
Love it! Great idea all round. I’ve now got my craft cabin since Mum moved in to our spare room (she’s 90) and I love my own space. Although the dogs can be a pain in the ass! Xx

This seems very, very you, actually, and, like someone else said, I can't wait to see what you do with it.
(I personally think you're brave for not having a lil bathroom in it, but I am very much a night owl so can't imagine having to trot up a garden late at night to go and pee - but that's very much a me thing!)
I get what you mean about finding it hard to still be living with family at an age, I get that. But, as long as your family are okay with it, then you don't have anyone else to answer to.
Strange question for a curious mind but - will you still be able to like, kip on the sofa if you get sick, for example (and god I hope you don't); like, you said you're moving your office into your bedroom, so will your office be like... A spare, just in case you need to be inside?
Good luck! Ummm I don't even know what a Shepard's hut is. I live in Hawai'i. Does it stay on those wheels? In America (not Hawai'i) there are trailer parks that have what are called mobile homes, something small you could theoretically move, but actually stays in place and is low cost housing. Or is it intended to be something that moves? Like a real mobile home? Wikipedia's article was very short. Looks cozy though.
It stays on the wheels, but it's not something that is supposed to be moved constantly. Originally they were built for Shepherds to use in the large areas of field so they could look after the flocks of sheep during lambing seasons. So they'd wheel these huts into the field where the sheep were, and keep an eye on them. Then move it once lambing season was over.
Nowadays it's another alternative to putting a permanent structure down. It means you don't need planning permission as it's a temporary structure.
We do have a long history of farming in my family though, so it seemed fitting to go for one of these over a standard caravan 😊
