it's unfortunate, but you can kind of see him struggling against the manga's font... especially because the letter "U" often looks like an L and an I next to each other. so he's pronouncing Umeko's name like it's spelled "LImeko" and it's especially obvious when Sugimoto says "Ume" and he straight up just reads it as "LIme" or like... with the word "Wenkamuy" he's seeing it as "WenkamLIy" so yeah, that makes the pronunciation especially difficult to figure out. good on him for eventually figuring out an Asirpa voice though... I can tell it's out of his element, but he settles on something that works eventually.
