Hammerheads live 30 years at the most and Hitler had to be mature at the time he was spotted. He would have died by 1970. Such silly hype.

When I was a teenager visiting in florida, some friends and I took out a 12 ft sailboat. A hammerhead came up beside us to take a look. That fish was at least 15ft. I'll never forget it. I became a scuba diver and my fascination with the ocean has never left me.
I've grown up here in Florida and come from a family of fishermen, one of my great uncles was a tarpon guide in Boca Grande for 40 years and the legend of "Old Hitler" is much older than that. These legends aren't about a single, giant hammerhead. There are several giant hammerheads out there and I'm sure they migrate from South America to Florida the same way the tarpon migrate, since the hammerheads and other sharks feed on the tarpon.
I grew up in Charlotte County on the west coast of Florida and heard stories of him my whole life. What I heard was he was longer than a 20 foot boat and had a harpoon behind his dorsal fin from were they use to harpoon large sharks in Boca Grande back in the 50's and 60's. That was the way they could tell him from the other large hammerheads there. Boca Grande was full of stories and any local who lived there from the 80's and before could tell you many of them.

My Dad was in the USCG and was a SAR Diver when the Air Station was down in St.Pete (Now it's at Clearwater International) and he was recovering the body of a Woman who Jumped off the (Old) Skyway Bridge. He went down in the sling and got it around her Corpse and signaled to be pulled up. Just as they left the water he was looking down and said he saw Old Hitler come up to the surface, glide along for a few seconds, then dive back down & disappear. He said it was huge. He thought like close to 40 feet but I'm sure there's some "Oh Shit" factor involved there. He guessed the Shark was coming up to get the body as he pulled it away.

I grew up... close to there. I can tell you I was a half a mile off the coast. 11 years old, out with my dad and another father and son, they were in their own boat. I had just got back in the boat after my dad got in, we were lobster diving. Like I'm on the back of the boat taking off my fins and weight belt, feet in the water, and I hear the other son who is like 14 15. He starts yelling, cussing and pointing. I see what he sees like 10 feet max away from me. I just start crying out loud like a bitch. I did the math in my head real quick and realized wtf could have happen if I was in the water for 10 more seconds. No lie... the fin on this hammerhead had to be like at least 3 feet long. I could stretch my arms at the time long enough to reach eye to eye. Anyways we went south down the east coast like 1 mile. My dad saw a good reef he wanted to look at. I'm ecstatic, like straight up in shock. My dad is like "Well gear up son let's go". I'm all crying like a bitch, screaming I don't wanna get in the water. Dad basically tells me he's going to throw me in after he beats my ass if I dont get in. Like legit hard as fuck on me. I gear up and we get in .... go down. We were using a 3rd lung at the time. I have never been so scared in my life. Like I was legit crying and stuff underwater. I had to look like a baby manatee calf all next to my fat ass dad down there. I did not leave his side the whole time. Didn't see no bugs, checks few more spots. Called it a day. If anyone from Florida's east coast, and remembers a place called P.V. Martin's... we were right off the coast from there. Like I had eyes on that place.
I might be wrong, but I'm 58, and don't recall a Hammerhead EVER attacking a human. Lots of Bulls, Whitetips and occassional Great White. No Hammerheads.
These are my totems we have a bigger one that is even larger than 27 ft that always hang around when someone from my island passes away which is in Torres Strait (Australia)
Everyone crying "they don't attack humans" shut up it's just a big shark some people like to look at. Also, I actually really doubt you can account for the diet of every hammerhead that ever lived, but that's besides the point

Like I had eyes on that place.
that was infinity fishing team with the hammer off the pier
Just 11 feet? JUST 11? 11 is plenty big enough ,thats bigger then my car!!!!
Wow I didn't know Jim Cummings did narration work!
This narrator knows what’s up
It’s not the sharks fault they eat humans, they think we are seals.
I think Discovery thinks Old Hitler is immortal haha
Who the hell names a shark after hitler? like wtf is up with these old people in charge of naming stuff
I might be wrong, but I'm 58, and don't recall a Hammerhead EVER attacking a human. Lots of Bulls, Whitetips and occassional Great White. No Hammerheads.
I have lived in the East coast my whole life and never heard 1 story of a hammerhead attacking a human
Thats not a shark,thats a megahamerdon
They may be aggressive, but there are ZERO recorded killings of humans from Hammer Heads in history
Sounds more like a local celebrity than monster
GTA 6 side quest. Just throwing that one out there
These are my totems we have a bigger one that is even larger than 27 ft that always hang around when someone from my island passes away which is in Torres Strait (Australia)
He live in the Bahamas we call him harbor master here in Nassau
If I was studying hammerheads, I think I'd stick with the puny hammerheads. Not the big ones.
Hammerheads aren't scary... Divers in the water tagging them with no fear....
Where can I find the full documentary to this?
That is one huge male shark.
I saw a 20 footer from shore at coco beach! The dorsal fin was 5 feet tall
Damn ,thats a hell of a fish story.
Everyone crying "they don't attack humans" shut up it's just a big shark some people like to look at. Also, I actually really doubt you can account for the diet of every hammerhead that ever lived, but that's besides the point
Theres more than one big shark in the ocean, guys
I watched a hammerhead eat a tarpon that was over 6 ft.
I thought the other big shark would be named "Old Stalin" and everyone would hope they'd meet and fight.
It's always "a mission" , in this case to find a shark that is four times older than usual.. of course the shark is Old Hitler. Their next video should document 400 year old Shaolin monks
Boat captain: get quicker with throwing that chum
Sailor: I can get quicker why don't you come and chum of this stuff
A massive Hammerhead appears and goes down under the sea
Sailor backs into the cabin
Sailor: your gonna need a bigger boat
Sailor and captian walk outside
They see the shark approaching
Captain: shut of that engine
A second sailor shuts off the engine
The shark slowly swims by
Sailor 2: that's a 20 footer
Captain: 22 and 3 tonnes of em
The narrators voice sounds like Optimus prime
This shark hasn't killed anyone...he may be a little irritated by people, but no one has been killed. Plus he'd be long gone by now.
Funny enough, the hammer head is the only shark I'm not terrified of.
InvestorHawk they eat mostly fish so humans are not on the menu also not by accident and it is not realy agressive
Lol imagine old hitler/hammerhead starts fish war 2 XD
Why is this narrated by Optimus prime
