Thank you for putting all these together in one place. The phrase “Ready for Racing’s ultimate test…five hundred miles on a Sunday afternoon in Indiana…where will the road take them?” More Paul Page brilliance….always brings tears to my eyes.
BNSF1995 in modern ESPN/ABC Fashion they didn’t do anything close to delta force. They had Paul page do a narration on the history of ABC coverage of the Indy 500.
Thanks for putting this together. I thought the first use of the Delta Force theme for a CART race was the ‘89 Michigan 500 but you have proved me wrong.
The great thing about this videos is that we had established legends and future winners of the race all in one, many times The best openers were, for me, 89, 93, 01 (brazilian wins with Emmo and Helio) and the words of 94 and 95 (the last for Mario and the centennial of racing in the US)
@@whoaitsreesy Haha I'm not American, I'm French ^^ But the Indy 500 is clearly my favourite race of the year, especially after seeing this amazing 2021 edition.
I can now understand why long time Indycar fans love this theme. If I've understood right from what I've read is that Paul Page doesn't want this theme to come back in Indy 500 unless he does the intros himself. I personally like Indycar's current theme a lot but would also love to hear this as a theme like they used it in 2002 Indy 500 (showing the drivers next to the scoring pylon in order of the grid rows)
You are correct. Paul and a production assistant used to write and produce these the night before the 500. Out of respect, when Paul was dropped from the ABC roster, so was this.
Awesome theme, no argument here, but let's not forget the nearly-as-awesome Indy 500 theme from the early 80s. You know the one I mean: Bum, da-dum, bum bum bum bum BUM BUMMMM! Ba-da-dum, bum, ba-da-DUM! Like if you remember it fondly!

I play this religiously every May and sometimes outside of May. I grew up on these intros. ❤❤❤❤❤
Man, Al Unser Jr.’s words get me every time. “Money doesn’t matter, living doesn’t matter, winning is all that matters.”
Absolutely one of the greatest sports intro music ever along with NBC old Wimbledon's Music. Sadly Networks have mostly gotten away from it.
Gf: “Babe put on some background noise so we get in the mood.” *Winks*
Me:
If the Delta Force theme actually puts her in the mood, do not hesitate...marry that woman.
LOL!!! 🤣🤣🤣
😁
The most Legendary Sports Intro in History.
Since 2018 will be the final year this race will be on ABC, they should bring this back.
BNSF1995 in modern ESPN/ABC Fashion they didn’t do anything close to delta force. They had Paul page do a narration on the history of ABC coverage of the Indy 500.
The 2001 intro was the last and that's ok - because, you can not beat THAT!
I can't think of another mix of music and sports just the perfect score for the 500
0:00 1988
3:43 1989
7:35 1990
10:02 1991
13:23 1992
16:44 1993
20:56 1994
24:58 1995
29:14 1996
32:26 1998
34:53 2001
34:53 was the 1998 one. Your 1998 one was from 1997!
A yearly tradition to listen to this in the month of May!
Thanks for putting this together. I thought the first use of the Delta Force theme for a CART race was the ‘89 Michigan 500 but you have proved me wrong.
Ahhh, the glory days of Indycar! Bring back the Delta Force intro!
this is a truly legendary Event "the greatest spectacle in Racing"
Paul Page caught the Spirit of the 500 in those intros

Thank you for creating this video.
Every time I here Delta Force theme, the Indy 500 is on my mind thanks to ABC.
These were the best intros! It’s my annual night before the race ritual to watch this!
That's why I made this video !
@@crash711000 you are a great American!

May 27, 2023. Night before the 500. Watching this.

Best theme song ever; period.
It’s strange to hear Al Michael’s voice against this music.
True. But oh that was a special year for brazilian fans. The beginning of our Indy legend, who just won his 4th
Just the BEST intro product ever!!
If this doesn’t give you goosebumps or get your heart racing you need to visit the doctor
I would love to see NBC update this theme a little -- same song, same tempo, just maybe less synth and more 'traditional' instruments.
I still wonder why they did'nt already do this
Beautiful
It’s that most wondrous time of year
36:40 This was fantastic
The Winners Were Legendary...- AL Michaels (2001 had the best intro... period.)
@@shaneharrisnj3484 Absolutely. Paul Page's intros were brilliant but how that 2001 intro was executed was fantastic
