My idea for an new Sonic game would be in the same vein as the Ultimate Spider-Man game. Like imagine that, a IDW comic book stylized game with 2-4 separate open world maps. Mechanics being useful depending on the location. And characters from both IDW and mainline Sonic games being playable, but being limited to 2-5 playable characters. And finally, the story being obviously based in the Sonic and IDW canon.
I’m pretty sure the IDW comics are canon to the game storyline, proven by Sonic’s mention of Tangle in Frontiers as well as official confirmation

This is what I would want it the sequel to Frontiers
1. Have an exclusive for the PS5, Series X, and PC, that way it be as next Gen as possible. Just have side games like the Olympic Games and Classic Sonic games be playable on Switch
2. Have the art direction more in line with the Sonic series. Not having Sonic trekking through realistic environments.
3. Stop reusing assets from the f*cking PS3 and make a completely new game.
4. No reusing old levels and level designs.
5. Retool and polish Sonic’s gameplay with a new engine. Using the less powerful Hedgehog Engine 2 is a detriment to the franchise for a game like this.
6. Have a city and ice themed open zones.
7. Introduce new villains instead of heavily relying on Eggman.
8. Since Frontiers focused on the development of the Classic characters, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy. Have this game focus on the old modern characters. Shadow, Blaze, and Silver.
9. Have actual NPCs and locals in the open worlds, even old Sonic characters can give side quests and be interactive even if they’re not apart of the main story. Say the Chaotix, Cream, Rouge, Tangle, etc.
10. Rework the combat to me more challenging, creative, and have more player input instead of relying on automation and useless attacks.
11. No more god damn 2D sections in a 3D open space.
But knowing Sega they’ll make the right decisions…….rush out another barely finished game that they sell for full price while you replay 9 stages of Green Hill

Some attack ideas I have : 1 you get attacks like in frontiers which at the start only just damage the enemy. 2 As you progress through the skill tree and unlock the attacking abilities there will be upgrades which makes each move have a purpose like, making the enemies lowlife lose health after using move A, freezes the enemies after using move B and etc. those are basic ass abilities but it would give each move a purpose after you unlock them rather than them all just doing damage

Honestly I think a Sonic Frontiers 2 could just be an open zone expanse version of Sonic Unleashed and of course the Sonic Adventure hub worlds. Instead of islands, make whole entire areas like it's Mario Odyssey so that the locations feel like they're not abandoned by an ancient race. Also have the Cyberspace stages just be higher budget whether they are based off Adventure level design or Generations level design (Sonic Team definitely doesn't have Unleashed budget rn).
ALSO CHAO GARDEN. A Frontiers 2 should honestly just be Adventure 2.1.
Make the more original, creativity, and experimental instead of just repetitive, rehash pandering, and safe.
Make the Sonic and his friends characterization like 2000s instead of flanderized them.
Make the more original bosses and not repetitive.
Bring back evil gods as final bosses instead of just Eggman.

I honestly think Sega would rather have Ben Schwartz become the main voice actor of Sonic than give Sonic Team the proper time and budget to make a good game(Zero offense to Ben,he's great as Sonic and I'd like him to voice him outside of the movies.)
I wanna see a Sonic game where having multiple playable characters is optional and each character is very unique from each other in terms of play style. This will help for things like switching characters for levels that suit them better, and everything is the players decision. Almost like Sonic Boom, or more specifically, Sonic Synergy
I just want Sonic Breath of the wild with some characters that aren't the main crew. Don't even care if they're playable.

I never want Tangle and Whisper in a game. You want combat, that's what Knuckles is for, and Shadow to some extent.

I have an idea of Mighty, Ray, Sticks and Trip having a Modern adventure together and become a team not unlike Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy.
And they all don't know about each other's connections to Sonic until they see him after the quest.

I’ve actually had this little idea for side content in a Sonic game akin to combat or FPS games that have an endless mode to see how long you can go for or how many enemies you can kill. A few 10s to 100s of typical or atypical Sonic level sections would be randomly generated as you blast through as many as you can before it either gets overwhelming or when you believe you’ve mastered the movement and are ready for a real challenge.
But really, I just want more halfpipes, everything needs more halfpipes.
sega could make a new advance game. can outsource the creation of last gen ports to old consoles. regardless. should be an interesting future.

The only thing I don’t agree with is taking the combat have a sonic. I would actually revamp it and make it more free flow. Also have speed leave more of an affect on enemies themselves.

I've actually taken Anne's advice and moved on from the show and even the fandom. I really still care for it, but I've let go. And also that Amphibia in 2024 = 2 years after finale MIGHT BE too early, so we might have to wait for new content later down the line.

I think that the combact should stay but be different by charcters sort of.
Sonic will have a fast paced combact where you need to react fast and deal as many damage as you can.
Knuckles will have more heavy combact, which will be harder than the rest, and will focus on parrying and getting a chanse to deal damage slowly.
Tails will be light combact aort of, you will not fight your enemies physiclly but with tail's tech beign the easy mode of combact.
Amy will have a more merciful combact with a basic attacks with her hammer while the enemies don't go hard on her, basically, tail's combact but a bit harder

Switch hardware is not holding Sonic back. You speak as if the Switch is on par with the Gamecube. What's holding Sonic back is the lack of budget and SEGA's lack of willingness to make a more ambitious game.
Honestly, I really don't want the IDW characters to be canon. As much as I like the whole zombie apocalypse, and they brought back Gemerl, it just doesn't fit well with me. I liked Archie comic because it stayed in its Lane and didn't try to clash with it being Canon but now if the IDW Comics they're trying to make it all Cannon and I don't necessarily like that.
I don't necessarily hate Tangle or Whisper, but honestly, I just like it when the Japanese developers create characters for Sonic and not American counterparts it just doesn't feel something that I would accept. It's just weird. It might be slightly better than a Sonic OC, but if I'm being really honest, I would just rather stick with what the original Japanese cast came up with.
They already had a lot of characters and there was really not much reason to add more unless if it was supposed to be for the comic, specifically then I wouldn't have a problem with it but trying to make them cannon just doesn't seem right to me I don't know maybe I'm just being an old grandma or something, but I just like the original cast Sonic X is a good example of a good cast of Sonic characters the all characters that they could grow up with. I'm not saying that Sonic can't meet new friends or can't make more friends I just rather the Japanese developers make a character. I think it would fit a little bit well since it would be from the orgin.
