    If you do not have an awakening after listening to Dr. Wilson, there is no hope for you. No black scholar has ever produced a thorough psychoanalysis of our circumstances in this country- like Dr. Wilson. He is truly brilliant. Thank God for these videos.

    Dr Wilson doesn’t get the admiration that he truly deserves as one of the greatest mind of our time the volume of his work is tremendous and warrant merit of the highest order for his contributions for African centred psychology.

    • @AfricanThinker86
      @AfricanThinker86  3 года назад +16

      Totally agree! However, I will say that I think in due time, as more work get released posthumously, his legacy will become that much more firmly established and contributions more recognized. The work ultimately speaks for itself. I think the reason he may have been overlooked before is he died before much of his greatest work was released. Even Blueprint came out 4 years after he died--and half the lectures we have now weren't as accessible or even known. Then there's Educating the Black Child and Foundations of a Psychotherapeutic Psychology--along with some other work--that hasn't come out yet. When it's all said and done though I believe there won't be any doubt who holds title of GOAT in his field. Most importantly, however, more people are beginning to fully comprehend his work. Shows some of our people are actually studying more critically now. Also, the availability of more lectures and books has helped fill in the gaps in understanding that used to have.

For every hour of fluff that black-focused TV, radio, cable, and streaming channels air, there shoulde be at least 30 minutes aired of scholarly, edifying, and challenging material from our elders, ancestors, and greatest minds. And for the nay-sayers who will say that viewers wont tune in to watch that material,, make it PSAs or commercials, as you stated.

      Excellent.
      Thank you for the reply.
      As I have come to conclude, "Nothing changes, if nothing changes" which complements the observation "It's not what a person is called that tells other people how they expect to be treated, it's what a person answers to that tells other people how they expect to be treated."
      If the majority of media aimed at the "Black" psyche contains beer, bullets, and booty shaking, then that content becomes the call out and imagery of "Black" culture (behaviors) non-black people use to develop their strategies on how the treat people classified as "Black" regardless of socio-economic status as even achieving Billioniare status does not allow a person classified as "Black" to escape the "black"-hole like gravitational pull of racism, but may even intensify the effect.
      Please review the content of comedy and jokes that have "Black culture" (behaviors) as the subject. You'll likely find racism at the root of those comedic offerings.

    The transformation of the African consciousness hit home for me, when I watched Roots. Kunta Kinte, a captured free African came into contact with the first generations of Africans that were born into slavery. They didn't consider themselves as Africans. That mentality of the enslaved Africans is the essence of slave consciousness and slave character.

    • @AfricanThinker86
      @AfricanThinker86  3 года назад +4

      Pretty profound when you take the time to meditate on the fact they (the characters in the movie/book) saw and defined themselves more by their relationship to white enslavers than other Afrikans who had been recently enslaved and transferred over. Especially when you consider how much the whites despised and mistreated the black characters. You'd think it'd be the reverse.

    • @AfricanThinker86
      @AfricanThinker86  2 года назад +5

      You can't be truly free without the ability to defend your freedom and liberty (even America's founding fathers recognized this; hence why we have the second amendment). If the term "enemy" frightens you, then perhaps thinking of them as potential threats will better suit you. The issue isn't about whether others have the intentions to act against you--most times you can't know until they do--but their capacity to do so if they choose (Wilson). Black history as well as the history of others like the Jews is ripe with examples of people who were victimized due to a lack of power. Ultimately though, black power isn't as much as about non-Blacks as it is enhancing the quality of life and capacity of black people for themselves; enhancing their ability to solve their own problems, provide for their children, develop their communities, cultures and societies. You can't do these things without it.

      Good question. I suggest finding at least one other competent like-minded person of high character and begin talking and planning your own projects regularly. Start small and slowly scale your group with quality people. Everyone you work with should contribute something to your group though, to be a member (don't chase huge numbers). Good luck!

    That's why I don't blame the god of the universe because he gives you the juice to compete in arenas. Our African ancestors had to compete in arenas within American realms.
