Love to watch you whittle. I'm glad there's no music background....it just takes away from the effect. Thanks so much for sharing your skills.

I love the realism you put into the eyes of your carvings, they look so great.
Would you ever do a video showing the steps you do to finish up a carving, and how you paint them? I get a little confused with oil and paint types, and what order to do them in.

I'm going to need to get some advice on sharpening my blade... I've tried different methods but it never lasts long and I dont seem to get easy clean cuts like this. Starting to think my blade is not very good. Might need to invest in a better knife

I think a quality knife such as a Helvie will make a much better experience carving for beginners. I spent a lot of time with the best sharpener at the woodcarving club, but there was no RUclips way back then and for me not being the brightest bulb, one on one taught me quite well. But with the multitude of sharpening videos out there you should be able to get the basics by watching. Besides keeping a consistent angle on the stone stropping is what makes the knife cut through wood like butter .

Great carving. How big is that upsweep blade? 1 3/4"? Will that guy end up being a bottle stopper? Thanks for the videos. You literally taught me how to whittle.

Love it, do you treat your wood before carving, I've heard that some use alcohol and water and spray the solution on the wood to make it easier to carve?
