TAXES CORRECTION. As this man is misquoting the entire thing. ALL self employed professionals are required to make 'payments on account'. Payment on account is paying an estimate of what your tax will be based on what you previously or should make. For that reason self employed professionals should get an accountant. An accountant will likely say to you, keep aside roughly 30-40% of your gross earnings as you will need to consider this for making your payment on account. Now, if you cannot keep your finances in order you will be able to edit your payment on account to a lower estimate, or request to wipe it to £0.00. However, only consider paying £0.00 in year ONE.. .Making it £0.00 in year ONE, is mostly okay as HMRC have no estimates to form the basis of your payment on account. Should you make it less or waiver it to £0.00 in year TWO....Bare in mind that if your PROFITS are more than you took home this year than in year ONE, you will pay 4% interest on top of your payment on account for your misjudged estimate . But IMPORTANTLY, IF YOU CANNOT KEEP YOUR FINANCES IN ORDER YOU SHOULD NOT BE SELF EMPLOYED. Also for anyone who is put off by payments on account. Have your wits about you if doing this part time, it's usually a lot better to do cab driving part time if you have an already stable full time job. Example, you're a family chauffeur, solicitor, account manger, engineer etc etc who wants to and is comfortable enough to do cab driving part time. But remember, even if you work in Tesco (let's not devlalue anyone's job here), and wish to do Uber part time, consider the insurances, accountancy fees, maintenance and sit down with a spreadsheet, yes self educate yourself, speak with your accountant and map out exactly what you and how often you think you'll work in the cab. But remember you're a part timer and your costs will be relative to your hours and if you already have a full time job your likely not going to work insane hours and that means you likely won't pay a lot extra if not any additional costs as you will be covering majority under your PAYE position.. But you should seriously consider getting an accountant and even have a chat before you commit to anything. But that's common sense. Back to payments on account. My friend is a tennis coach and because he knows pretty well that there are multiple Reasons that could jeopardize his earnings, he is able to waiver his payment on account rather easily. Cab drivers and Uber drivers generally get business in all weather's so just bear this in mind. THE VEHICLE BIT. you can claim tax relief on your vehicle for capital allowances and again correction HMRC DO tell you this. IF YOU LEASE, you'll be able to claim the entire weekly cost as business costs. Anything that you do and touch and speak into with regards to your car, maintenance and phone is all business deductable expenses. so if you compare someone who grosses 50k per year to a account manger on 50k per year, the driver will pay considerably lower tax than the account manager. The driver has business expenses, the account manger does not. Hope this is helpful. The gentleman recording this video is getting his understanding of business costs and taxe procedures considerably incorrect.
I've changed my mind. This feels like modern-day slavery because drivers cover all expenses and labor while Uber takes the profits. Costs; Rent or lease, fuel, 20% income tax, 9% class 4 tax, congestion, TFL costs, food, maintenance, cleaning, accounting - these all add up. Earning £16 per hour minus these expenses just doesn't make sense. It's disrespectful to oneself. This job is very unhealthy, as it involves sitting for 60 hours a week and stressing about covering expenses, not to mention dealing with potentially rude passengers. And for what? To make a clean profit for Uber! Drivers could make a 25% profit, but it's taken by Uber! This is unacceptable 😡. Please don’t be fooled earning by other drivers. They won’t tell you clearly they have massive taxes and expenses! Plus sitting 60 hours a week and stress non stop working. Very very unhealthy. Better if you have license, get a job at local minicab offices but don’t sell your soul to Uber!

Looks like an expert may I ask you one question little curious if someone live in London and have TfL licence already but now need to move to Luton can they still be registered with TfL and work in London and luton ?
Working as a mini cab driver is giving you the opportunity to work hard and make money. If you want to be poor and lazy, go do 8 hours shifts at Sainsbury’s or any other mid salary Company.
You do have to be aware of putting money to the side for tax, he is slightly incorrect about paying tax up front the following year, you can pay as little as you want monthly but obviously near the end of the year you need to get HMRC (tax) all settled the advance amount they estimate is only a guide and you may end up earning less so that would mean you would be paying too much tax in advance which would be counter productive, HMRC are flexible and will send letters saying you need to pay abc now but you ignore until you know you are earning enough to cover tax in the first place
The extra tax you speak about is payment on account, you can actually make a request to reduce this and Only pay what is actually owed. They take the extra tax incase you earn more next year and are unable to pay the extra taxes
I have a question. Currently doing uber eats and deliveroo and after all expenses I make about £1200-1300 for the whole month working 35-40 hours per week. With cab driving on uber bolt etc. What would you be making for one month working 35-40 hours per week. Lets say that you own a car that is tfl approved and don't need to do renting.
Average 20-24 pounds an hour before fuel costs so potentially 40hrs a week should produce average £800 a week before fuel costs depending on your car fuel could cost between £100-200. Hope this helps

My experience as a private hire driver. In london you have; uber, bolt, ola, viavan, freenow etc. If you sign up to all of them and multi app as most london tfl drivers do. Then you will make more money than a doctor, pharmacist, engineer etc. This guy is milking the the trade but complains how bad the trade is. JUST LEAVE THE TRADE AND GO STACK SHELVES AT TESCO. @@themeatspot5020 you pay tax on the earnings put together. E.g. if you made £20000 on uber £10000 on Bolt, £2000 on Ola then all is added together minus expenses = the tax you need to pay.
But drivers that quit solely because of Uber are also demonstrating a looser mentality.. If you're going to go to such extremes to start your cab business and quit because of one poxy app without considering how to leverage your skills that's pretty feeble. I did Uber for a while to figure out if I wanted to drive in London. And I'm glad I did as I went onto close protection + Chauffeuring and it worked out. Uber will at least give someone (with intelligence) a solid topography of London and if you are going to be a driver you should always set the bar higher. The knowledge is good but drivers and hopefuls like this guy are not promoting the taxi trade enough there's about 50 new cab drivers getting their requisition to become a cabbie every year instead of the previous 1500 so that's got to change drastically otherwise those cabbie numbers drastically change.
Thats why taxis are busy, because there are less. Its actually the best time to do the knowledge as those thinking they can just grab a licence to work for a PHV app with thousnds others are not thinking outside the box. Think about it....i'll leave it at that

Last point I'll make. And this is not factually correct like my post on payments on account but a good point all the same. Ever heard the phrase 'the working man'? Someone with 'the working man' mentality will put people off with all the costs. Many cab drivers would somewhat consider themselves middle-class and would often have driven for a few years and so will know what their costs are and will be in complete control of their finances. Unfortunately there are many who are fed up, perhaps have made incorrect choices at some point and will find themselves in a somewhat different position and outlook. If you want to start something new and different, you just have to know your own journey and what you can manage. If someone is working uber full time and is saying that the costs are too much, just consider that everyone has different financial circumstances and it may be in fact their own life and their own subjectivities. The job itself Vs the individual is the crucial part to play in all of this
You didn't take into consideration first of all the fact that those 10 pounds at tesco gets taxed as well, and you didn't say much about the expenses that are tax deductible. From my experience, in order to make more or less decent money, you have to put in the hours and be as careful as possible, trying to get as few accidents and fines as possible. But at some extent you are right it much more troublesome and requiring than a normal employed job that's a fact. Good luck on the roads, everyone!!!
I know a lot of Uber drivers not one quit they really enjoy the job. Every job in the uk you have to pay tax and national insurance. You sound like a negative person.

(I did 3 .onths full time Uber f/t hence the crazy HMRC bill. I have a full time PAYE job too I'm a proper grafter so put lots of hours in evenings & weekends. In general, no one breaks down the tax you really have to pay
If you do capital investment, and put petrol (price you paying at gas station instead of mileage), for your expenses, and you put food on your food breaks as expenses, etc., the taxes are then not that much. I am self-employed food delivery driver, and never got taxed so much. Though, I am PT. Half year PT half year working full-employed. It is better to finance car, than renting. Because, if your business plan fails, you can still get employed back again, and you are buying a car at least, and a car is always a good investment. However, I am not going against what this man says. He is experienced and he will tell you the truth. He has no reason to lie to you. I am thinking which is better, FT cabbing or do moped driver half a time and half a time be employed.
For every ten drivers that quit there are 50 waiting to come on...

Looks like an expert may I ask you one question little curious if someone live in London and have TfL licence already but now need to move to Luton can they still be registered with TfL and work in London and luton ?
You will be able to work in Luton with your current license
How much do you make per week now.?
The extra tax you speak about is payment on account, you can actually make a request to reduce this and Only pay what is actually owed.
They take the extra tax incase you earn more next year and are unable to pay the extra taxes
I have a question. Currently doing uber eats and deliveroo and after all expenses I make about £1200-1300 for the whole month working 35-40 hours per week. With cab driving on uber bolt etc. What would you be making for one month working 35-40 hours per week. Lets say that you own a car that is tfl approved and don't need to do renting.
@@derekcharlton6001 you forgot the enormous costs!
@@derekcharlton6001 not for 35 40 hours. To do what you said you need to be out for 60 70 hrs
A lot more
Average 20-24 pounds an hour before fuel costs so potentially 40hrs a week should produce average £800 a week before fuel costs depending on your car fuel could cost between £100-200. Hope this helps
After you consider the expense of the car and petrol, you have almost nothing.
A big thing you missed out , if you get ill or take a holiday or have an accident unlike working for Tesco for example, you won't get paid. In a normal year some or all of that WILL happen
There is a demand so many will replace those who leave
...because they lazy to work full days!
5-6 full days with uber a week:
1200-1400.
👍
What area do you work?

Easy life, thanx for God!
I notice is easier now to get an uber than it was a few months ago, the service is improving
Over 1 k plus drivers a week applying I been there I would say more none stop busy I went 2h early and it was packed two hours later same thing months of waiting for results. My mates do uber and they make good money don't believe the liars who still do it but complain and make money to out you off.
Last week I almost lost my plane because uber drivers kept cancelling on me
If you are rich enough to own a plane and loose it, than you should consider owning a vehicle + a chauffeur
Completely true!!!, thanks for taking so clear
I told you’re not right but after 6 months I realized you have right
Oversaturation leads to a market
This is absolute none sense
Congestion charge?
I forgot to add that one.
Thanks for revealing a truthful facts . Kept it on also can you talk bit more about part timer Uber driver
Wake up guys. Which Job let's you work the hours that suit you. YOU.... Yes you. Not Larry, Mohammed mark or Sergio. Bankers are known to work 100hr weeks. If you want to work as much as you can. If you want to earn 30k PROFIT and AFTER expenses for 9-10 hours per day that's decent enough. Just consider how easy it is to become an uber driver. Use your common sense AND DO NOT BE A CAB DRIVER IF YOU WANT TO WORK NINE TO FIVE. it's really not that hard to figure out that monday to Saturday is a must, where you make your good money in this game
Erm, thats ridiculous, why work a 60 hr+ week just to earn what a busdriver gets without their pension or sick pay etc. Your obviously a newbie
@@manifernandez6300 because bus drivers don't profit 30k they are waged 30k. Profit is Net and net is synomymous with profit. The wage of a bus driver is before tax and NI. Do the maths you lousy arse. If you have a bus driver on PAYE 50k and a cab driver gross 50k. Are you seriously telling me you'd rather be a bus driver? Fine if you do there is a personality well suited to drive a bus. No doubt you're a bus driver.
@@manifernandez6300 six years. Uber | RST | Protection Driver. Don't live in London etc. etc. Life is all in your own hands. If you're telling me somehow I'm doing something wrong I'm going to shake my head and laugh.
@@manifernandez6300 oh and Uber drivers get a pension and they get hol pay. You ought to Google that one bussie
@TheL184 holiday pay is added at your "upfront pricing", which means you never get it.
Which right minded person says work 100 hours like bankers because it's a flexible job.
Only you apparently.
Not to mention 60k on a taxi
My experience as a private hire driver. In london you have; uber, bolt, ola, viavan, freenow etc. If you sign up to all of them and multi app as most london tfl drivers do. Then you will make more money than a doctor, pharmacist, engineer etc. This guy is milking the the trade but complains how bad the trade is.
JUST LEAVE THE TRADE AND GO STACK SHELVES AT TESCO.
NO OFFENCE TO ANYONE!
If you multi app, do you pay tax on each one?
@@themeatspot5020 you pay tax on the earnings put together. E.g. if you made £20000 on uber £10000 on Bolt, £2000 on Ola then all is added together minus expenses = the tax you need to pay.
Love the map behind you sir.
Crack on with the K.
This video should be shown to anybody wanted to apply for a PH licence.
Bro talking about taxes as a solo trader not as someone running a Ltd company where tax is dealt with differently.
What happened to your knowledge videos?
Good information video, I didn't earn enough from Uber EV to pay Tax or National Insurance. Shocking but true. 4 months I admit, but filed online.
Tfl has ruined the uber/private hire driver wage by charging you so much will eat in your fee.
Think about it....i'll leave it at that
I quit being a uber driver .people think we made soo much money but tbh it's like a modern slavery . After all the cost we don't even make £5 an hour .
Lies 😂😂 my freinds make 2 to 300 a day in london.

Ubers good to make money
Most of them lies about their TAX they don’t pay 💰 soon they will be asked to bring the payslip on the app at the office. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Are you driving for uber?
I agree with you everyone's lied .
WHY DON’T YOU QUIT??????
Because no other low skilled job pays as good as Uber.
Your 💯 right bro
The job itself Vs the individual is the crucial part to play in all of this
That's a very interesting way of looking at it
What so don't do it
Heard the phrase beggars can't be choosy - nuff said!
Listen bro don’t listen to the haters
You didn't take into consideration first of all the fact that those 10 pounds at tesco gets taxed as well, and you didn't say much about the expenses that are tax deductible. From my experience, in order to make more or less decent money, you have to put in the hours and be as careful as possible, trying to get as few accidents and fines as possible. But at some extent you are right it much more troublesome and requiring than a normal employed job that's a fact. Good luck on the roads, everyone!!!
When you pay peanuts, you get monkeys
Yeah I don’t make money I’m quitting it’s poverty
I know a lot of Uber drivers not one quit they really enjoy the job. Every job in the uk you have to pay tax and national insurance. You sound like a negative person.
Hi mate!

Just to let you know guys how things work in real life.

You are full of negative, I just want to ask you why are you still doing this then? I drive Uber for last years , I work around 35 to 40 hours, I pay my tex and also make very good amount of money !
Thankyou sir
How much do you make roughly per week in profit
That can’t be true
sadly it is
I'm afraid someone who's been a p/t Uber driver since 2019 (me) it's pretty accurate what he says
My tax bill for 2021/22 was approx £8500. (I did 3 .onths full time Uber f/t hence the crazy HMRC bill.
I have a full time PAYE job too
I'm a proper grafter so put lots of hours in evenings & weekends.
In general, no one breaks down the tax you really have to pay
You are lying
Hi do you have a mail?
Good points but capital investment only works if you own your own vehicle, if renting like the masses do then you can't do capital investment.
Also car washes amd products to keep car clean can count towards the deductions
