I can't trust SCUF anymore. I loved their controller for my Xbox 360, so I got one of the Drift0r models for my Xbox One and it had nothing but problems. Not to mention the fact that their customer support was absolutely atrocious on top of that. I honestly am just going to adapt to playing on a regular PS4 controller rather than wasting $150+ on a gamble of a product, and I'd advise that anyone who reads this to do the same.

my ps4 scuff broke after less than 10h of use (it would stop inputting to the system even when wired and it looked like the shell wasn't big enough to fit all of the components in it i.e. bursting at the seams), however i had not used it for a few months after purchasing... kinda assumed a 1 year warranty and contacted support, they looked at my purchase info and told me to send it in under warranty. Fast forward a bit and i get an email saying that it will cost x dollars to fix the mainboard (yes something that i could in no way have broken) and that my warranty was expired (why didn't they tell me that at the beginning). Then they took several months to send me the controller back and it was covered in an oily substance on the grip and thumb-sticks. I will never buy a scuff ever again.
I love that this new Scuf has a similar design to an Xbox one controller.
I got an Xbox elite controller, it's really nice, and no keys are needed to change it up

Best thing about this controller is that charger trap. Have been through about 5 chargers since getting my PS4 a few years ago.

Got a Scuf Infinity a couple of months ago. I regret that decision. Terribly made.
The main thing people like about the xbox controller is the stick placement, This doesn't have that...only has the shape of an xbox controller without the off-set sticks! But i do like the new changes! Nice review Brad..Top job as always :-)

MrChickenspit had two scuf 4ps, both broke after a year. Never again, using an elite controller with a Cronus max adapter now.

Flow i purchased a wired scuf hybrid xbox 360 controller a few years ago. the dang controller's cable wires broke, so i just sold it like that on ebay... it work fine for months. i guess they are not meant to last :(

Does anyone else do this weird thing with using the bottom of your thumb to jump while still aiming
I did until I switched to bumper jumper tactical. It's similar to a bootleg Scuf, since you can jump, aim and shoot at the same time, without having to move any fingers/thumbs. Helped me considerably in the last 3 CODS.
sstJ I play claw where my middle finger is on the trigger my pointer finger is on the buttons and my thumb is on the thumbstick so I can do what the paddles allow without changing button mapping or taking my thumb off the thumbstick. Scumpy made a video on it
Personally, I prefer Stick and Move.
Bluespellmaster8 Me too I've been playing on claw since PS2/Og Xbox days. I use my pointing fingers to press ,Y,X,A,B. And my middle Finger to press the triggers. It's good to play claw because my thumb never leaves the the thumbstick. Also For the longest time I thought that claw was normal and everybody plays like that.
I used that for a while, but once COD went to two-hit melee, being able to slide became more important than melee for me.
I have had my Scuf impact for about 1 year and nothing has happened. But my only complaint is that the shipping was very slow because I live in Israel. But all in all the controller is very good and responsive
I use an xbox one elite controller and have tried my friends scuf. The elite controller feels so much better with magnetic everything and cool customizing
I wonder if the new ones back paddles decide not to work after a few matches like the infinity 4PS and the 4PS because unreliability is one of scufs most reliable features
Since Titanfall2 I'm so use to bumper jumping. 3 years ago, I wanted this controller, but nowadays I kinda was the VR set. Probably 5 years from now I'll want a Sli GTX1080ti.
I hope Scuf is reading this. Customer service horror reviews is enough to keep me from trying this company. The warranty is already too short for the kind of money that is invested in these controllers.
I just put L3 as jump, it's usually never used in fps games, and solves the move your thumb to jump problem. Much simpler than paying for a controller over seen nothing but complaints about

Drift0r Their warranty should be 3 years which is the expected life time of a controller really. If mine breaks again (4ps broke once but got repaired) , I will argue that the UK rules that companies should cover a product for its lifetime and get it repaired fairly

Mine cost me $20 and they included new thumbsticks... this was out of warrant too. Sounds like you got ripped off.

I've had a Scuf 4PS for just over a year. Out of the box, the characters in game would start spinning out of control. I contacted Scuf and shipped it back (after trying their "reset" remedy that didn't work). When I got it back, it worked just fine and has ever since. The only issue is the colored grip that was on the undersides of the control has completely worn off. If you have the extra money, the paddles are worth it. Just my .02.

I really have the analog sticks on the ps4. They are places in a weird way to where if you have big hands, your thumbs have to bend a lot to touch them. Also one of the most aggravating thing is how heavy and slow the controller feels. It’s like the buttons and analog sticks have arthritis . The analog sticks move way more slowly and feel heavier than the xbox one controller.

got a scuf and they sent me the wrong design after waiting almost a month to get it in the mail... When it arrived it felt cheap and the trigger stops were lose and rattled around and the shell wasn't well connected to the rest of the controller. It felt like it was going to snap in 2. On top of that the customer service was rude and unwilling to accommodate anything so I was forced to return it. Won't be buying anything from them ever again!
I've really never had an issue with bluetooth connection. The response time is just as fast as I press on the trigger. The only response time lag you get is from the giant TV's these days that require you to disable all of the high frame rates in order for the game to keep up. I will never have the need for a wired controller.

Pros and Cons of scuf: Good controllers, occasionally get minor issues with mine. every problem I've had has been fixed by there amazing customer service, even sending me free repair kits though.
I’ve gotten 2 of these at my local pawn shop love them so much one of them is he Xbox one and one is the ps4, both for under $100 together
Drift, can you please make a video comparing all the different scuff controllers? I know the changes between the models aren't huge but it would be nice to see all the features compared in one video so we don't have to go back and reference several different videos.

I asked them years ago if they were ever going to make a PS4 controller with 4 paddles and they said flat out "no" because there wasn't enough room on the back of the controller. And I thought to myself, why can't they just make a PS4 controller that's shaped more like the Xbox one and give us 4 paddles? Looks like they finally got around to doing it. A few years too late I'd say. I haven't played COD since early in BO3 life cycle. I was looking through some videos today and saw a BO3 video and some of the new WW2 game coming and I thought to myself, it's been about 6 months since I played. Then I realized that it's been way over a year because I had forgotten about Infinite Warfare. Did anyone even play that game? I was looking for some In Depth videos for it when I saw this one and I'm thinking Drift0r didn't even bother playing it.
Everyone go have a Look at Aim Controllers... It also Has Back Paddles and Hair triggers on both L2-L1 R2-R1 you can choose which buttons you want it on... Back Grip, Custom
Face, Custom Analogs...easy Mapping....it can get pricey but it is way more reliable And better quality won't break that easy like a scuf.... I bought the Scuf impact and it literally broke in 1-2 months. I have had the Aim Controller for 6 months now and it hasn't let me down yet oh and did I mention it comes with a 6 month Warranty in case for some reason you break it.

elite controller is easy to change out everything and everything is metal so not chipping and never broken paddles unlike plastic scuf parks smh
Ya everyone I've spoken too say that the Elite Controller is better in every way other than the weight. but tbh the weight makes it feel like it's good quality. when you get angry at the game (IW) u can literally feel the flex of a cappy plastic scuf but not w/ a Elite. last point u definitely don't have to pay extra for the grips ok the sides it comes standard on Elites Scuf is over priced for a plastic POS.

Rileswithsoul only flaw with the elite controller is the bumpers. I had 1 fall off a table and it landed on the bumper and it broke -.-.
I've had mine since release (so nearly a year and a half) and not a single thing has broken on it. Though, to be fair, I've never dropped it.
Wish the joysticks were also staggered like the xbox.

I use my Titanfall controller a lot, so I was confused at first why you had my controller.
The big downside is you have to use a tool to re-map buttons, swap thumb sticks, etc. I wonder how many kids eventually misplaced the special scuff tools. Also, are those tools proprietary? Can you only use the provided tools to make the adjustments to your controller?

This has to be one of the most frustrating companies I’ve ever dealt with. They require you to call them or email them to even get your controller shipped. Mine was ordered on the 25th and not shipped until I called them about it when the controller didn’t show up on my birthday. Mind you, it still hasn’t shown up and it’s been a month since I ordered the controller. Yes, they took my money 30 days ago and I’ve yet to receive anything. On top of this screw up, it’s not the first. I bought my first controller from them when they first came out in 2016. Same exact issue. Never thought they would still be around treating customers like this. The controller broke after 2 months of continued use. Forgot about it for a few years and now getting back into gaming it was my dumb decision to go through them for an aftermarket controller. Their customer service is terrible. It’s a bunch of kids that would rather be spending your money than working. Don’t buy from Scuffgaming if you value your time, and money. BECAUSE they obviously don’t.
Xbox one elite controller still trumps scuff!! Not sure if PlayStation makes an elite version, but scuff should take some pointers from Xbox

I'm the opposite. Dome thumbsticks push into my fingers and they hurt. Concave thumbsticks fit the shape of my fingers and they don't hurt.
buy an Xbox Elite controller and a Xim4 and u can use the Elite on PS4
For 200$+ (Depending on how it is customized), is it really worth it? I've never owned a "gamer" controller and I see a lot of people using it. I can see why it is very popular and *_maybe_* worth the money. To reiterate the question: Is it worth it?
Altezza RSR I suppose if you have the money to spend it would be. But they're expensive and I could only really see value from the texture grips and paddles.
Altezza RSR both of my scuf ps4 controllers broke within a year. The paddlesl are great for shooters, but the quality sucks.
I'd say it realistically depends on whether or not you have the cash to spend on something like this. It's a luxury controller, with some really nice features--but ultimately it is a luxury. The argument can be made that you'll have advantages in certain games (such as using paddles to jump in an FPS game, therefore not having to take your thumb away from aiming), but unless you're truly playing at a competitive level, this is still a luxury that isn't necessary to enjoy games.
I currently own a SCUF 4PS, and the build quality is mostly good. Mine is older now, and the only complain is the rubber used for the thumbsticks has cracked, resulting in me having to put on thumbstick grips. I feel like this is possibly the result of the early DS4 material wear and tear issue--but realistically, for the price I paid, this is disappointing. I have a feeling the rubber quality is likely better now, but you may want to do research.
The only significant benefit comes from being able to use paddles instead of taking your thumb of the thumbsticks which allows you to jump, crouch, whatever while aiming so unless you already play at a very high level and can take advantage of that it's not really worth it, it's a minor improvement in some situations.

bought a scuf 5 months ago - back-paddle stopped working a few days ago, gamepad itself disconnects from time to time from the ps4...never again... 😑
the thumb sticks aren't like xbox, they are side by side not offset.
How is it's weight? I use an Elite controller on my Xbone and that thing is pretty hefty. I like it compared to the normal Xbone weight. I really dislke the standard PS4 controller because it fees super light and cheap.

My 5th Scuf is my last - the quality has nosedived. Last one I ordered at Xmas arrived with faulty trigger. Sent it off - and it came back but the trigger still randomly fails. Ps3 Scufs lasted for years, PS 4 ones barely last at all.

Drift0r, please answer my question, but I am considering buying a ps4 impact scuf controller, and I wanted to know if the hair trigger key was included when you buy your first controller which, for me, will contain the hair trigger stops? And if it doesn't is it given in the "scuf impact 4ps gamer bundle?" I also forgot to ask, how would you theoretically dropshot with the paddles? Is it just normal like holding in the prone button, being circle most of the time.

So you don't get extra buttons with the paddles? Sounds they can only be remapped to existing buttons. I'd like to get extra buttons to map for Elite Dangerous.
The shape on the controller is similar to the Xbox controller but that's it. The sticks are still in the same position as they are on the PlayStation controller so it's not really like playing on an Xbox controller...

Yeah I guess so. I mean the Nacon revolution has the sticks in the same position as the Xbox controller but that's "officially" licensed by Sony but outside of the stick locations I'm a fan of little else on that controller. It's a shame Sony and Scuf couldn't get a business deal fir controllers.
If the sticks were in the same position as the Xbox and it had that shape I'd probably be sold. The 4 paddles thing isn't a selling point for me because when I play on my Xbox elite controller I just took off two paddles and only used two, mainly because I don't need 4/I play on bumper jumper. I'd probably just get the PS4 infinity cause it has two paddles and it has USB wired support which has long since been overdue.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the fact that previously scuf controllers were only covered for 3 months, where as now scuf covers the paddles specifically for a full 12 months, since that was the most common issue with the controllers. So if you have any issues with the paddles your now covered for a full year.
staggered thumbsticks is worse than having them on the same plane, it is more comfortable and natural to have them on the same plane with your thumbs resting perfectly over the top of them in the resting position
i did enjoy this video. unfortunately that impact controller is not for me. the dpad on ps4 controllers is horrible for fighting games. i bought a 360 hybrid but i thought the wireless version switched to data when you plug in the USB (it doesn't) so im still screwed. i need that wired hybrid you showed us
I have heard from a lot of youtubers that have done reviews on the scuf and battlebeaver and they have said that scuf will break more times than not. Battlebeaver on the other hand is better quality and more durable. What are you honest thoughts on those two controllers? Before i pay 130-150 plus on a controller i want an honest opinion please. I have a xbox one however i really prefer the playstation controller to the xbox as its more comfortable is their a way of me being able to used this controller on xbox one, like can i just connect a usb cable from the controller to my xbox and will it work?

I have an Infinty4ps and i play with it wired. Is there any issues with degrading the battery performance by constantly having it plugged in? It would be nice to have a cable that didn't charge.

If I play like 2 hours max a day, how long would a scuf controller last me? I know it’s only meant for hardcore gamers but I really want those pads on the back. If not a scuf controller, what would you guys recommend. Again, durability and paddles are what I’m looking for.

TheKingNekro it's personal preference bud, personaly I find the left stick to be very uncomfortable to use, and I find them quite imprecise as well, also the fact that the dpad is in the top left screws me up litteraly any time I play anything that uses the dpad for anything more than just menus
You're right, it's personal preference. That was my point by making that comment. Personally I hate the staggered layout of the analogs on Xbox. Feels more natural for me to have my thumbs in the same position on both sides. Why would Scuf change the controller's layout to satisfy the people who prefer the Xbox controller's layout when it would just upset all of the people like me who love the PS4's stick layout and have been gaming on Playstation for decades?
You always have the option to use an Xbox controller on PS4, there are adapters out there.

As far as I've seen they haven't marketed it as an Xbox controller for the PS4 in any of their official advertising. Drifter just decided on his own will to describe it as that just because of the shape of the shell. If you look it has all of the original innards of a PS4 controller. It's as if they just gutted some Dual Shock 4s and made custom shells for them.
Maybe it would be too much work to actually re-wire the analog stick components to mimic the Xbox layout. If you've ever opened a controller you'd know what I mean, the innards and wires are made to fit into place in the controller's layout.
When you sell your ps4 to buy a scuf controller
what i want to know is what the paddles are preset to. like is the far right paddle x or o or something. why do all the reviewers discuss what the paddles do but not tell what button they're preset to?
Teqo: HDnoob look on the website it shows specifically which buttons are preset to x square circle and triangle.

Hi Driftor, I brought an scuf 4ps controller about a year ago and both thumbsticks are terrible. One is worn down to plastic that is quite sharp so I can't use it without hurting my thumb and the other one has gone yellow (it was white) and glossy so its very slippy. I used it almost everyday for a year but now I can't use it. I can get it repaired but I have to pay for shipping and repair from uk to usa because the warrant is a only for a month.
