Years late but I remember One of the SNK directors in an interview said they wanted to but felt like it was best ended at 2 and didn't want to hurt it's legacy if it got a sequel.
I did think it was a weird answer imo. It did ended best at 2 but wouldn't have minded if they tried to least do a soft reboot or least something that takes place years after 2. They could've just put yuki as an extra character even tho she sacrifices herself
