    Small cell amphidinium. Dosing waterglass will be the key for this type of dinos

    I just ran a UV at night when the main display light was off. Dinoflagellates gone in about a week and have never reappeared. I also took the skimmer off line to get nutrients back up.

      There are different types of dinos, only some are affected by UV

      @PrestigeReef Yeah definitely and the ones I had went into the water column at night. I guess finding the strain of dinos would help you moving forward then.

      I was plagued with Dino’s for over a year. I finally just went the nuclear route and turned off the lights for, wrapped the entire aquarium in dark paper, and left it for three days. My skimmer was a bit more active as well as my filter roller and when I took the paper off the Dino’s were gone and haven’t returned.

    Had the same issue. Got rid of most dosing silicates but they came back. What’s this new method? What products do I need to buy? I’ll do ANYTHING 😂

    After you tested my water for dions, at the same time you had it last, I used sum different rock as well, which more porous than the man made rock that I used , and I believe that had help me fight dinos, I've been clear now for 4, 6 month's, I have sum rock if you need mate

    ruclips.net/video/BXpDkkcJZkU/видео.html depending on the dinos. this really helps for those that dwell in the sandbed. uv sweeper from 3D Reefing. - NM, LOL! But the uv sweeper work VERY well for me earlier this year.

    Hi Ryan after watching your video I feel for you I was battling prorocentrum dino,s for 10 months but thankfully all good now, my observations on your video are you should shake your sample vigorously in a small sample jar for 20 seconds then use a pippette to drop a sample of water on the glass with no grains of sand and you will need more magnification for a positive ID
    I was dosing 40% sodium silicate for 8months and had a reading of 15ppm which is way higher then recommended but never achieved a diatom bloom I tried every bacteria under the sun to achieve a biom to out compete the bloody dino,s and found i finally conquered it by dosing Aqua forest life source, not saying it’s a miracle cure though I also lost all my cleanup crew due to how toxic they are so run some carbon and change regularly and regular icp test to get levels correct, I’m not telling you how to suck eggs mate but just just my experience dealing with dino,s hopefully the uv sweeper will be a game changer best of luck

      @@PrestigeReef i really hope you have better outcome than me... i tried everything, silicate dosing, sandbed uv, phyto dosing, copepods, countless bottled bacteria and I was so happy to see the sandbed sterilizer clearing all the sandbed. however, 2 weeks later, my sandbed is all covered by dinos again, nutrients aren't bottomed out. it's my first tank, and i'm starting to lose hope :(
      i guess my next move is to clear the sandbed again with the sterilizer then restart dosing silicates right after...

    If you have dinos, you may want to add carbon. this could be why the fish aren't eating. the dinos can be pretty toxic to the fish.

    • @anthonylineberry
      @anthonylineberry 18 дней назад

      The kind that go into the sand show here (LCA Dinos) aren't really toxic compared to other species

  • @Fish_Ventura

    Bruh,, drop the blue in,, the longer you wait, the more of an outsider he is compared to the others. The best time to sneak a fish into a tank,, is at the same time as others, and you are blowing that part IMO ,,, spoken as an owner of many tangs. Elliot w/ Marine Collectors has an article on tang aggression that i view as the Bible. :)
