idk about the fact that he said that theres valorant players that hate the fact that the map are randoms, i never heard someone say something about it. i think tho that on csgo being able to pick map is just kinda boring bc you could just play the same map all over again until you are a high rank without even knowing the others and i think that its not really nice tbh
It isn't very pleasant, especially on higher ranked due to the nature of how you play on each map. Valorant relies greatly on team composition and the variety shows itself on all the maps. If agents already have a variety, why continue with randomness in maps? I would prefer to choose which one I want to play over the probability that I'll get into a good map where the agents I use are viable within that team comp. There are just too many random variables.
in cs2 each map have their own ranks though, so you can't be a vertiglobal and que into globals on mirage for instance; for valorant picking a map would imho increase the skill level of the more popular maps more, but in the long run lower the skill level(or increase skill gap) for the maps that alot of people hate. if valorant had a bots system, so you could "play" the maps against bots, this might help players learn the maps, as not a whole lot of people are gonna spend x amount of time alone in a custom, besides the lineup nerds. the vast majority i feel dosen't wanna learn or dosen't wanna learn the map unless they click heads and get some form of dopamine from it. personally i quit csgo because i was fed up with the game, and valorant seemed like the hit new thing, that felt better at the time, i somewhat hoped cs2 would respark my love for cs, but seeing their rocky launch just makes me not wanna play it.
When they fix CS2 it's gonna be good but now as it is ... not really it's missing content like maps or mods , response you get from hitting people because of sub tick is just weird lot of people complaining about it, community server browser is non-existent basically it's trash web browser comparing to what it was in previous CS and lot of smaller things.
