Magnificent living, breathing steel behemoths. Modern day locomotives can't come close to the beauty and mechanical wonder of these fabulous machines from a by gone era!

Oh my! That brings memories of 30 some years ago when I was on this train, from Durango to Silverton, traveling for 2 hours through the mountains and on their edges, enjoying one of the most beautiful view in the world.
What a video and a tribute to the magnificent steam locomotive, you have captured the stamina and beauty of a treasure that is unique to the world, thank you.
I love the whistles and my most favorite videos of your channel is Durango and Silverton narrow gauge engines I like the design and the scenery and view of the mountains look great. Great video!
OUTSTANDING video. I had the pleasure of riding this train as a gift to myself last 4th of July and absolutely loved it. I wished I would have ridden it all the way but I was staying in Moab and my companion wanted to spend more time in Utah. Another option is to take your Kayaks on the train to the top of the mountain and paddle down the river.
Awesome video! I’m traveling here this summer, if you remember, would it be possible if you could send me the following coordinates for the shots at 9:38, 17:23, 18:31, 20:34, 28:40, and 35:39? Thank you
Was married on a ranch in Pagosa Springs, NM and took my 1880 themed wedding party on this train in 1997. We were all in authentic western costumes and fit right into this beautiful train and the terrain. Highly recommend this train ride. A grand wedding trip still well loved and remembered after all these years.❤😊
My husband, who does a fair amount of train videography, a few minutes into the video: "Okay, this guy is pretty good at finding good angles." My husband, about halfway through the video: "Man, this guy is REALLY good at finding good angles!"
If you decide to take the train, try to get seats in the caboose. The caboose is enclosed, you (used to at least) get free drinks, and there is less people in the caboose. And Colorado being Colorado, don't take the trip without at least a windbreaker in case the weather gets nasty.
Oh no the general signals type 1 ebell at the Hermosa Crossing is dead since the type one ebell is no longer in production sadly I think that’s gonna be replaced with a type 3 Ebell
I still miss proper trains. Diesels and electrics lack character. You can't beat the sound of a Steam loco maintaining speed while still pulling hard. Raw power. Here in the UK we have some tourist lines that have been operating for 50+ years and it's always a joy to see and hear. Rather than diminishing interest in keeping them running seems to be increasing.
Thank you very much! Lovley video! May I ask how many days it took you for filming that? How many shots do you have at the train in each direction? Greetings from germany!
Yes, this is a sho’nuff train, all right. It has *soot,* like an old-timey train is *supposed* to have. Wonder how I can get out there to ride it, or one like it closer to home?

well modern day locomotives can be beutiful and that is streamliners
I cannot lie, I am so humbled by the great steam locomotive that I have to take my hat off and bow down before it in passing. What a work of art!!
Amazing what you can do by boiling water huh

Best of the Best...Greetings from Poland...
Rode it in 1999, and in 2017 with 2 of my kids, planning to go back soon.

Steam Locomotives are so cute, especially when they pass through woods on a bright sunny day with a clear sky...
Wow qué impresión tan impresionante WOW WOW increíble gracias wow 🖐️😁 gracias 🖐️
A great way to spend the weekend. Stayed at the historic Strater Hotel and rode on the Cinco Animas Pullman car.
I may have gone overkill and spent almost a week up there just shooting the trains. Still always gonna be my favorite place to go.
Amazing coverage of the Durango & Silverton Jack!
Thanks Ty, glad you enjoyed!
Enjoyed this video very much. I always like to see the steam engines rolling on the tracks.
Very beautiful view. Have a nice trip

Me transportó a mi miles, viajando Bogotá Legua Zaque gracias por compartir ❤
In India we hardly have them now all have diesel locomotives. Thank you 😊 for sharing such beautiful 😍 scenes. I do miss them a lot 😔
All Aboard. All Aboard. Enjoy the ride.
They’ve got a doubleheader!
When I rode the Silverton back in 2004, the McDonald’s was old_school, and the locomotive was the bigger #486.

Very nice train rare and historic. Greetings from Indonesia
Look at all the tourists !
One very important note. I don't know why this captain doesn't use train sounds much. I love the train's screams while moving.
My ancestors were right, I am so proud to be named after Casey Jones, and I understand they devotion he had at the throttle.

So when I was at D&SNG, I saw No#1(aka the hotshot) switching. Unfortunately I didn’t take a picture
Wow must be a tough route if they need 2 engines for a 14 car train
Great video what camera do you use?

It's not like they're all gone. Just enjoy all these steam trains when you can.
What camera did you use? Great video by the way.
It's a tiny sony camcorder. I'm not super happy with it but it gets the job done. Hoping to upgrade soon.
👏👏👏
Wish that had been 4K
Run the lead dirty for the fans...bell always on...yuke
every north american locomotives use bells all the time are because of mandated safety regulation FRA
Thank you very much! Lovley video! May I ask how many days it took you for filming that? How many shots do you have at the train in each direction? Greetings from germany!
This was about a week's worth of footage. You can get maybe 8 shots both directions if you know what you're doing. Thank you for your kind words.
@@ArkansasLocomotiveWorks Alright, thanks for the information! I hope to see this railroad in a couple of years time and will keep that in mind!

How did you get photos outside the train on the high line?
Are you asking for the on board footage or trackside?
@@ArkansasLocomotiveWorks trackside
@@prairierailproductions6737 I hiked in from Rockwood
@@ArkansasLocomotiveWorks wow they’re usually really touchy about people walking the high-line
