You’re running around in a T-shirt and it is snowing outside my door in Pennsylvania. It looks like you had a great road-trip adventure fishing and shopping for tackle; I have gone Steelhead fishing at Lake Erie and drove 2 hours to find ice covered or flooded out streams. So; I just spend the day hitting all the bait and tackle shops along the lake. It turns out to make a pretty fun and interesting day; because there are plenty of tackle shops to check out. Plus all the comfy warm friendly restaurants and watering holes too. Both tackle shops and watering holes provide more than just tackle and tasty refreshments. You can learn some interesting new places to fish just being friendly and talking to local people. If you are dressed nice and polite you don’t even have to ask. Letting them ask you often works better. This is a real good way to establish a working fishing pattern without serious struggle. You might think you know where to fish or what to use. Chances are if you never fished there before; you are likely wrong a lot of the time; fact is; it is likely every time. I learned do what locals do first; then try your ideas later. I tied flies and did extensive research from the internet, books and packed lures for a lake or stream with great care. Then thinking I had all the bases covered strike out like a rookie pitcher. Fishing smart beats fishing hard every time. I have bait casters; I can cast tiny line and little lures with and ones that cast great big ones with heavy line. Trouble is what to tie on the end of line is real important.
That looked like a great road trip, nice bass too. I used to have a 1200 acre deer lease north of Brownwood, south of Cross Plains, 20 years ago. How time flies. For people who don't know what Sand bass are, they're White bass.
Brian Washburn is a very cool guy, I named one of his bait colors when he first got started, he does beautiful work. Cool baits are underspins that are super popular in California (my state). Really well made. I've never been in a " Bait" shop like that, I think that's cool, I love that you stop at mom and pop shops, I'm definitely a shop local guy. Great video homie!
I remember my dad would only throw the old grape jelly worm back in the day. He once caught a 6 3/4 lb kentucky bass on watts bar and had it mounted, if he would have contacted the game wardens and had it weighed it would have been the record back then. He didn't know it was a kentucky spotted bass until years later. He caught it on a Manns grape jelly worm.
@@RetroBassin Do you remember the ol Gillraker worms? Made by Zeta bait, think it was a company out of Georgia. They stopped making them years ago but a few years ago someone bought the company and was going to put them back in production but i have yet to see them. I actually went to highschool with the famed Andy Morgan aka the goat. Flw pro now MLF pro but he is the one that got me to using them. I caught so many bass on those things it is ridiculous! They had amazing colors and had the patented Z tail. You can still find them on ebay, i liked the strawberry flaked color it was red with metallic flakes an absolute killer in the spring.
That Jelly worm is beyond cool, been eyeballing a pack of grape for awhile that I need to buy. And always love seeing the local baits, never know what gold you might find in the wild!
Great video and nice fish. Is that Retro line of headgear available in a visor? Check out our latest video and get in on our giveaway. If you win I will trade prize out for some thing old. Keep after them
Every video that theme song makes me so happy. I want it on my playlist!

A Mann's Augertail in motor oil was money 💰 before some of your subs were born! Keep em coming! Love the vintage spinning combo
The ol’ Tom Mann Augertail Worm!
Mitchell 300 is my old school favorite

I have 2-3 cool baits underspins, they are killer in the cold months with a paddle tail swimbait

Wow! I didn’t know zman wasn’t the first company with the transparent motor oil color
You learn a lot from the Ole RetroBasser. Stay tuned

NOTHING but COOL Old School
Thanks, Victor!
All I had for most of the 80's were metal guides until my dad bought me one with inserts about 1988 or so from KMart for a backpacking trip.
Gotta keep them bad boys polished!

I still throw the ol' grape, and grape-with-white-tail!

That greenish hue on a semi-translucent motor oil color is a great look, I like it on craws best.

Diggin on the 1993 BPS HUNTING CLASSIC hat ! I can't believe you didn't skirt up one of those Tornadoes and chunk it ! Throw em if you got em lol
🤫 motor oil... I still always have a couple different size of power worm in motor oil in my boat!
Nothing like road tripping and catching big bass
Motor oil with a chartreuse tail, the very definition of old school.
Such a crazy looking color once underwater!
That jelly worm color is 🔥
No specks, no flakes, no frills...just old school goodness.
those rods were built to a better standard and quality then they are made today great video love it subbed
You need a Wright McGill Tom Mann Spinning Rod to work those Manns Jelly Worms.
nice video mate ... great to watch ...
do some live bait episodes.. that stuff is fun
At least I know where to get bait now!
More like a 3lber! Nice!!!!
I usually add 2 pounds, so thought I would even it up by taking off 1. LOL
Boy... I tell ya, I fish those baits waaaay more carefully when I gotta pay $15! Lol.
Talk about retro, how about that Pizza Hut across the street from Waymore Bait &Tackle! I wonder if they still have the sit down PAC Man machine???
I’ll have to check it out haha
I liked mans augertail worm in motor oil awat
Got me curious... do you use modern line on your retro rods and reels?
