    In all honesty, the Next Gen car wasn’t a complete failure. It did make the races more interesting and more fun to watch. However, Yes, there were mistakes NASCAR made on the car due to tire issues and also Kurt Busch’s “early” retirement due to concussions. They need to fix the head rests and other mistakes. But all and all, it wasn’t a terrible season.

      Independently a lot of the issues the next gen had would be fine. But the safety issues and the combination of the issues is what made it all so frustrating. But if they have the safety issues improved and the short track, and honestly the plate package improved. Then everything will be good. Growing pains are okay, hopefully that’s all this past year was

      The design making the rear so stiff to support the independent rear suspension is baffling that they didn’t make changes early on. And the teams could’ve had changes done immediately.

      @@tristonwebb8062 Welcome to the negative effects of the most cookie-cutter corporatized disaster of a car NASCAR could've made. Let's show that we run the sport and that suit wearing boardroom members know more about driver safety than the racers or the crew chiefs, who predominantly were former racers themselves.

    Racing wise the car is amazing except for short tracks and road courses. But the low profile tire sucks and the fires are a big problem. Im glad they did something about the rear’s crumple zone, but they should also work on the front and sides too. The front seemed to get better throughout the season but still

      The intermediate racing was so much “better” bc the 550 package was so horrendous. I personally enjoyed the 2014 package of seeing guys wheeling it and hauling a)) into the corners but I understand why people didn’t like it then. But the road course and short track program for the next gen is unacceptable. The Austin Dillon Atlanta hit showed the RF impacts are the best they’ve ever been. But those side and rear impacts deficiencies just overshadow what progress was made.

    There are so many things to blame with this car, and Nascar as a whole. I agree. That damaged car policy is horrible. I see nothing wrong with someone making laps to gain positions if they want. And you brought it up. That single lug nut takes all the fun out of pit stops. And don't get me started on the number location. They are changing everything I loved about Nascar.

      For as long as they spent planning on the next gen, it seemed like they really really missed the mark on so much. And not even allowing teams to make fixes to problems 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

  • @hellhound1585
    @hellhound1585 Год назад +2

    The low profile tires must be really annoying cause if you blow a tire then go into the grass then there’s a possibility you won’t be able to move the the tires are so thin and there’s barely anymore tire touching the ground then if it was inflated the previous gen tires would have such a better chance of getting out of the grass because there’s so much more tire to work with and the next gen low profile tires if you blow them then now your pretty much running your outside rim bead on the pavement and the inside could either be the blown tire smacking against your car and ground or it to could just be the rim bead running on the pavement but with the higher profile tires the rim bead has a chance of running on the blow tires sidewall rather then the pavement both the outside and inside bead and this will also give them more tire surface area to help incase they end up blowing a tire and going into the grass they have more grip to work with but also not to mention all the other safety concerns how is it that the previous gen is safer in certain aspects then the next gen safety should be better in the next gen not a weird balance of good and bad. Also not to mention going to 1 lug nut rather then sticking with 5 if that 1 lug nut fails then you’ll be seeing your tire running beside you but if you have 5 lug nuts and 1 fails you still have 4 lug nuts to work with and you can go to the pit stop to get another lug nut if your team notices or just do a scheduled pit stop and get another lug nut there
    Edit: I noticed I was saying rim bead rather then the flanges but the flanges would be getting grinned down it will most likely damage the head anyways

      The best note is that everything was being touted to be “more production like”, “as close to the showroom floor as possible”. Well my Camaro I own has 5 lugs per tire not a single lug soooo 😂. But they just shouldn’t have changed the tire to the 18in wheel. Bc it being 18 instead of 15 is why it couldn’t be steel. And it being aluminum meant lug problems would severely compromise the integrity of the wheel. And the larger wheel meant no inner liners…. All those issues are solved if they just stayed with 15 in wheels. And less grip and less braking ability which wouldn’t have ruined the short track package 🤦‍♂️

    This is why Chevy, Ford & Toyota should've built the Next Gens instead of Nascar. The Manufacturers would've made these cars actually safe to drive. I remember in 2021 when Nascar did that crash test with the next gen at Talladega & the dummy "died", both drivers & team owners where rightfully concerned and asked Nascar about the test results and Nascar was being vague about it and other things with the Next Gens.
    For me the breaking point in calling this Car a failure was when Harvick's crew chief Rodney Childress said the teams could help fix most of these issues and Nascar said they couldn't touch the cars. Then the concussions to Alex Bowman & Kurt Busch and many drivers saying every hit is a lot worse than the Gen 6 ones & as of Summer 2023 the drivers are still saying the hits are worse & not much has been done to fix that.

      Teams wouldn’t have wanted a big change like that so quickly, the car was safe so till they would’ve had the time to absorb the money spent on the COT rolling out they didn’t want any more research and development costs for any changes for a long time and that’s why it was about 2 years before they made the changes
