    Great idea thank you for posting this .I have a toy box and I need a bigger trailer for my buggy .cargo trailer is my option instead of 40 grand or more for a bigger toyhauler

      How is it going? I just got a gently used (literally) 22 year cargo trailer. Hoping to make it some what comfortable when I go to the dunes or Moab. Not trying to totally recreate a house 😂 or spend 40k plus

    That’s a great set up,,what’s the wattage usage of that unit

    Awesome! Love the idea of buying gutter downspout for $4 instead of the $35 (waste) of wire hiding whatever they call it🤣

    I just liked your vid.
    Question, what is powering everything?? (Trailer and split unit)

    • @stratokev2
      @stratokev2  2 года назад

      Thank you! We have a 30 amp shore power inlet with 4 circuits in the trailer. The mini-split is on a dedicated 20 amp circuit.

    The only thing I would like to know if you can let me know does the line sweat and does moisture drip because I know they sweat moisture but I didn't know how you're keeping it from dripping on the floor

    • @stratokev2
      @stratokev2  2 года назад +1

      Hi Aaron. The lines are insulated all the way from the outside unit to the inside air handler. I haven't had any issues with the lines sweating. And that is in Missouri with temps in the 90's and high humidity. Also, the air handler itself has a hose to drain the condensation from the unit to the outside.

    How has that brand held up? About to do an install on mine.

    • @stratokev2
      @stratokev2  10 месяцев назад +1

      The unit has been great! Coming up on 3 year anniv of installing it. No problems. The heat does have difficulty when the outside temps are below 40F. We just use an electric radiator style heater when it is really cold out. Like the mini split so much we have also installed the same unit in a sunroom.

    • @shawncolwell2029

      @@stratokev2 When below 40* do you mean staying warm or getting warm? If you use the additional heater to get temperature up will the mini split maintain?

    • @stratokev2
      @stratokev2  10 месяцев назад +1

      When the outside temperature is below about 40F the unit seems to run longer and louder than usual. It gets warm and maintains the temp but working harder than normal. When it is that cold outside we turn the unit off and use the radiator heater.

    Great install, I am looking for a little more info on the wiring. Are you running off a generator? I understand the inside and outside unit are wired together, but how are you powering the outside unit? Did you just wire a plug to either attach to shore power or a generator?? Thanks,

    • @stratokev2
      @stratokev2  2 года назад

      On this model the outside unit wires into the inside air handler which is plugged into shore power. The shore power on the trailer is 30 amp and I have a separate 20 amp circuit for the mini spit.

    How well does this cool say a portable AC unit I just plug into an outlet?

    • @stratokev2
      @stratokev2  Год назад +1

      Our cargo trailer is 8.5' by 20' and it will get so cold on a 100 degree day that you cant stand it! The unit also heats as it is a heat pump. The heat works well down to about 40 degrees. Below that it works but struggles to keep up. Yes it plugs into a regular 110-120v outlet.

    How has it held up so far.. I was warned about driving vibration from the mounts.. any thoughts?

    • @stratokev2
      @stratokev2  Год назад

      So far so good after 2 years. I am concerned about the driving vibration too, but we have made quite a few fairly long trips with no problems. It would probably be a good idea to mount the unit on some rubber or foam to absorb some of the vibrations. We will probably do that before me make our trip to Florida this summer. Thank you!

    the unit inside the fan when cold is not turned off automatically when it is hot if it turned off automatically you can help me with that how can it be moved so that it turns off automatically when cold my unit is the same as yours I don't know if you like it realized that

    • @stratokev2
      @stratokev2  2 года назад

      Not sure I understand your question, but the remote control acts as the thermostat. So, where you have the remote makes a difference in how much the unit kicks on and off. I think the inside fan just runs constantly, at least I don't think there is a way to make the inside fan automatically shut off.

    Is the front end of your trailer rounded? Did you have to shim out the front wall to accept the air handler inside?

    • @stratokev2
      @stratokev2  Год назад

      Yes, the front of the trailer is rounded slightly. On the inside the curve is not very deep and mounting bracket for the air handler unit is pretty flexible so I didn't have to use any shims.

    • @evanwindom3265
      @evanwindom3265 Год назад +1

      @@stratokev2 Hey -- thanks a ton for getting back to me. I think mine will be similar, though my trailer isn't as wide so the curve is a little more pronounced.

    How is the box holding up? This is the best option I've seen for the way I can install mine. I don't have a way to weld tabs to install to. I have the same unit waiting to be installed.

    • @stratokev2
      @stratokev2  2 года назад +1

      The box is holding up just fine. I used treated lumber and deck screws to build it, then painted it. When not in use it is covered. After almost a year, good as new.

  • @larryjanson4011

    good job. but you should have used steel not wood. wood does not like being out in the weather.steel will last for ever.

    • @stratokev2
      @stratokev2  2 года назад +1

      Yes, I agree. We keep it covered at all times when not in use and used pressure treated lumber to build it. So, hopefully it will be fine for the approx 5 years that we intend to use it.

      Mine came already displaying in F. I see from an Ebay ad that "To change to Celsius you press up and down the temperature arrows at the same time for approximately 4 to 5 seconds"...so maybe you can change to F this way too.
