Top 15 Controller Tips for Apex Legends - MangosInTrees
Before i switched to ALC i used 6 5 linear. Now i use pitch and yaw 350 with extra 250 on both and ads is 170 for both with 170 extra. Usually people dont like having extra on their ads but it actually does a lot with aim assist. When youre not aiming at someone its fast then slows down when you aim at someone
Thank
I got a very twitchy thumb so it makes it worse
Biggest tip if ya true controller player on console n run into a pc controller player CONSOLE PLAYER JUMP OFF OF MAP LOL
You forgot to mention aiming then hip firing with certain guns actually improves hitfire
Love all your tips :)
I played on 106 FOV from the very beginning and just switched to 96.
I can play a lot better that way.
I wasn't able to see enemies right with the high FOV
I’ve been thinking about changing my FOV! I’m at 110 now and have found myself struggling to shoot players far away unless I have the 2-4 scope! I’m on console but play with my buddy who plays pc.. so I get beamed from distance! Hopefully this will help.
4-3 linear was a game changer for me. Wish I would’ve started with it, made movement, recoil and tracking so much easier once I got used to it. I’ve tried switching back to classic and now it feels terrible to me
Edit: wanted to add, going linear gave me stick drift on no dead zone. I converted my 4-3 linear to ALC with some tiny adjustments, primarily adding 3 dead zone and 3 outer limit. There are some great Reddit posts detailing how to convert from regular sensitivity to ALC without changing the feel
Ìĵùĵijù7
I thought I was the only one. 4-3 linear felt a tad bit odd to me (Ive played cod with reverse s for the past 4 years)...so I converted 4-3 to ALC and increased my response curve slightly to 3, and put my deadzone up so that I barely get stick drift if my hand isnt on the stick. If ANYONE doesn't feel perfect on 4-3 linear...ALC's with minor adjustments is the way to go
I know this comment is old but getting stick drift is kinda op since aim assist is always on its one of the reason nearly all pro play with no deadzone.
Been playing apex for a year, wasn't expecting to learn anything but i ended up learning a few things, thanks
Been playing since the release always something you never thought of
for tip #1 i suggest doing a 360 on a door then reload at the 180 mark for a new mag and a quick look at your surroundings. (hope this helped)
For someone who doesn't play on controller, I clicked this video really fast 🥲
Lmao some of the tips can help both inputs
No now you know my weakness
@@ryanhodgson5979 perfect 😈
Facts, now I can school my casual controller friends 😅
Gotta know what you’re going against 😂
Get a controller with paddles if you get the chance. Power A controllers are quite cheap and do the trick. It will improve your gameplay 200%, even if you use the back button for crouch and jump.
Microsoft recently released a list of 3rd party controllers that they approve of.
All the 3rd party controllers that aren't on this list won't be useable in the new year.
Just another tip, instead of using button puncher button layout u could also have your left thumb stick as slide so you can do special types of movement such as super gliding
Pro controller
One tip for everyone that he doesn’t mention is to also have WiFi that isn’t McDonald’s
Great video! I will def be practicing my wall bounces and jump looting to take my skills to the next level. Like u said,I no how to do it it’s just implementing it to my games until it’s muscle memory. Thanks for the tips
I think one of the biggest things that improved my movement was switch toggle crouch to hold crouch. Superglides and sliding bunny hops much smoother. Also if you don’t have paddles you are always at a disadvantage. My paddles are mapped to A B X Y and I never have to take my fingers off the sticks. So I can slide, turn, crouch and jump all and jump all at the same time
you can do the same when playing claw
@@jakeduhamel7771 fr, bouta learn how to do hold crouch
@@jakeduhamel7771learned back in the bo2 days and it’s been so useful lmao
@@HEXY-on-Steam lmao so funny you say that, thats when i forces myself to learn it to. Been on MnK for a few years now but thinking about switching to roller again as MnK is like slammimg your nuts in a door willingly on apex.
@@jakeduhamel7771 don’t switch to mnk
I play console. My random was moving way to fast to be normal. I asked how. He said lamic settings. So I guess there is a exploit that allows you to use twitch through console. It is BS for those of us who play fair. This movement boost is ruining Apex on console. I'm getting killed by lvl 60s and 70s with over or almost 1000 kills and 2K badges because if this. It gives them a way over the top advantage. I spectated a lvl 9 get 21 kills and almost 3000 damage solo and win the BR match. I have pics of it. EA and Respawn do not give a crap about it cause it's console. Such BS
If you’re coming from cod the best button layout is custom. Since I play tactical I do use melee as circle and crouch r3 but also ping up on the dpad, heal with R1.
I use button puncher but I struggle holding a head glitch because I'm to heavy handed on the right stick and end up crouching when I shoot, any tips for that?
Every one should play linear 4-3 or 4-4 button puncher if on a ps4 controller. Best
after messing with heal binds for awhile as a ps4 controller user on steam, i finally arrived on
split touchpad
left tap = syringe
left click = med kit
right tap = cell
right click = batt
ps button = phoenix
as a split keyboard/controller player....its sooo optimal
Another good controller layout is evolved. I see many using it cause you don’t have to move your thumb to jump or bunny hop.
I jump on L2 and slide on the stick :)
Why not instead of knowing what your heal button is currently on, why don't you just remember the layout of the Heal Wheel so you can quickly use and not have another thing on your mind?
Dpad Up + Up Control Stick = Phoenix Kit
Dpad Up + Down Right Control Stick = Cell, something like that
Smooth brain comment
The slow inputs would still fuck us up and start the wrong heal because we moved the controller faster than the game picked it up 😢
I noticed one tip you didn't explain, when you say to ambush you should say to two of your team is distracting a team one of the should attack from the back
Lol there is a reason he didnt explsin that tip
@@doffNspot why?
@@Your_best_nightmare19.99 "attack from the back" that's why
i bind my jump button on l3 so i can always jump or crouch when im in a dead box, also my interaction is on the norma jump, my greande is on the normal interaction and my crouch is on r3
A bit of a personal tip, i re-mapped my jump to LB and its so much easier to do movement.
Same I play half claw (only on right side) and switched to bumper jumper and my movement feels alot better
That guy is u
I feel that 90 FOV has always been the best for me. Because everything is relatively within sight, but I also don't get the fisheye effect. I hate that. I already have bad enough vision. 🤣
I'm Master on console but I still like to watch and see if there are better ways to do things. I also just like the gameplay.
4:14 I have my jump binded to my stick and that allows me to jump even while i am looting.
Wraith:"This is not R6, Crypto!!!!"
I bind the heals to my left joystick so I can click and select without moving off of the sticks.
Great tips. I know you talked about not using ALC in the past, but I have some bad stick drift I need to increase dead zone because of and I don’t see an option to do that without using ALC, any tips?
In gameplay on settings you can just set deadzone for look and movement which ever one has the issue put it on large
One thing I would like to mention is if any of you have the season 7 reactive R99 that also has better iron sights
My sens is 6-6. I thought I was relatively low but my friend was shocked at how high my sens was. As a controller player, is my sens being this high weird?
I had this problem where I would accidentally punch mid fights because the punch button was mapped to r3 and I would accidentally press it while panicking so if you switch to button puncher it will fix that
Somthing to mention, if you play with jump or crouch on your analogs, you will eventually get stick drift, you have great movement but also great stick drift😬
100%. I went through 3 controllers in a year because of how bad the drift got. So the 4th one I got with extra buttons/paddles and assigned R3/L3 clicks accordingly. Best thing I ever did.
nah i’ve done this for all 4 years of me playing apex with the same controller, no issues for me
Damn dude, good on you. I thought I took great care of them, but I guess I'm somehow too rough with my controller(s).
I appreciate these tips. However I encourage you, as well as anyone else to turn that auto reload at mag empty off completely. It is very easy to run the mag and instinctually hit reload, so now your weapon swapped, but you immediately swapped back to the empty gun.
I have been playing game with Mnk since I was young, I try playing Apex with controller one day, I gave up instantly I can’t do that, it’s so hard to move and shoot
If aim is your issue the FOV tip actually hurts you. The larger the fov the smaller the target. Find a range that works for you and your aim level
I use button puncher but I swap the B button from melee to grenade, it makes the dpad melee but melee is less important imo
The reloading behind doors isn’t really useful. i swapped my reload to Hold instead. Even facing away from the door I’ve managed to open the door behind me. stepping away slightly while someone is on the other side just enables them to open the door slightly and shoot me through the slight opening.
Even when I have the prompt to revive, it still OPENS THE DAMN DOOR INSTEAD
Not to say its the solution for everyone, but even just 2 extra buttons makes playing sooo much easier. I use back paddles.
5-3 classic is the aim assist king. Aim steady down sight but still hasn't enough hip fire speed for movement
Nah bro your voice sounds just like the guy named Tyler on Wednesday- the tv show
Is it me or does this guy sound kinda like the bamboozle king himself?
my friend uses 6-5 no aim assist setting and still one clips preds like what
my xbox box fps max is 60 idk how to fix it i use different hotspot and internet and it’s still 60 fps
actually if ur using button puncher you can crouch spam while on a deathbox
Still want to be able to turn off cross platform the aim assist is real and silly anyone that feels otherwise is simply lying to themselves
6-5 sensitivity for me (PS4 diamond player )
Yeah you can do it every single time? Yeah huh but the footage you use proves otherwise
ty not jumping on the deathbox is holding me back.
Would've loved to watch the video, but your voice is terrible.
I personally play 5 - 5 linear and that works for me
For the door reloads tip, you could just switch to hold for reload tap to use
Not good for fights when not near doors which is way more common so to save time you don’t want that. Milliseconds matter in a CQB 1v1
If you play normal grip on controller use evolved instead of button puncher
i reach over and hit alt on my keyboard for survival items
First thing I do is switch to shields as soon as I land. I use paddles and ended up putting slide on my left paddle and shields/heals for right paddle. Makes things so much easier.
I play 4-3 STEADY and I love it ❤
In controller settings you can choose things like “hold x to reload and tap x to interact” and so on just to throw that out there!
That’s what I did as soon as it came out. It told a tad bit to get use to and I pick up loot slower be the benefits out way that majorly. I’m a Wattson main and I’d accidentally pick up my fences in fights which would cost me sometimes. I can sit on doors and in knockdown shields. It’s was so huge
@@captainjacksparrow2509 yeah I was struggling with the new setting so I changed it back to default lol. I’ve personally never had that problem (yet) so maybe I’ll run in to it in the future and have to figure it out then. Nevertheless it’s a great option to have!
Literally almost die everytime I have to put out a heat shield lol
this video on 2x is how it should be in the first place haha
Are there no players that use top bumpers for shooting and aiming?
(Edit) I use Alcs and custom controller settings~ Jumps on left trigger, slides on left stick, aim on left bumper, fire on right bumper, inspect on O, grenades nd heals on left and right Dpad, and survival on down with pings on x~ I can do all controller movement there's no nanosecond delay when shooting (pulling the trigger down) and when you combo that with 4-3 or 6-4 linear/ Alcs that make your sens high but slowed when aim assist kicks in~
I simply suggest learning claw. I play claw as well as have 2 back paddles that i use for meds and jumping and its incredibly useful. Super gliding, wall jumping and bunny hopping becomes incredibly easier.
Download scripts for controller inputs respawn allows it
I changed my reload button to hold square
I just buy a play 5 to play apex but I try it a little and really not like how feels the aim and legends moves with a controller, just gives me frustration, I made my own hud and even with that I’m so lost with my buttons, I never press the ones I wanted and gets killed easy, other things was the matchmaking, I’m new on the game and my first match the enemies are platinum with a lots of experience , movement’s and aim. Think after mobile version disappear I’m done with apex too
Call me crazy but I play aim r2 shoot r1 crouch (hold) l2 jump l1 and interact/reload r3. No paddles. My movement is godly and aiming on point. 4-3 linear. I am Dia 4 solo q
I've never got a hairloom pls name Sihle Klaas
Tip # 3!!!! I just did this the other day and it’s a game changer (pun intended) I kept hitting melee during gun fights which got me killed so many times.
I have a ps5 dual sense edge, so 2 back buttons and run custom.
Same as button puncher but changed interact to L1 and ability to square ( left paddle, jump is on right paddle ) works well only need to push face buttons for weapon swapping.
I only played APEX a couple of times when it was just released and now everything seems so alien to me. It's like "what? More maps? Weapon attachments? I don't think I know this game anymore." Thank you for making this video you definitely taught me something.
how many hours do you have in this game?
Coming from other fps games I always had the mindset that high sens = good, so having 6-7 and him saying 4-5 at most or whatever was was a surprise
11:20 Man that is a smart Newcastle play good job ^^' poor Gibby i knew exactly what was going through his mind right there "fooooooock" xD
I switched to controller recently after about 10 years on MnK and already I'm playing more consistently on Apex after following this guide about a month back
My controller setting settings for apex are left bumper-crouch, right bumper jump, tactical Right stick. Makes it so you can aim with the right stick and simultaneously jump, crouch/slide, using tac without ever taking my finger of the right stick
Currently using a old tv I had for ages and wanna upgrade as I have ps5 now. What are some great competitive monitors to use that aren’t like a grand 😂
Apex and warzone are the only games I utilize claw. It's too uncomfortable to hold the controller like that so I hold it normally and just reach with index fingers when need to holster guns, hit heals, and swap weapons or reload
Im at 5 4 classic and for wall jumping i just can t make the turn forward (towards the wall) and back to trigger an effective one. I wish I understood how to do it.
For layout I prefer ninja because it keeps your thumbs on the sticks while jump and crouch are LB and RB
Bigggg tip to everyone if u want to move on controller ps4 while in a death box it is possible to jump and crouch the only problem is u will have to put crouch and or jump on ur R2 and L2.
I'm new to your channel. You mention something about ALC early on. What are your thoughts on ALC? Or if there is a video please link.
yeah, I've talked about it many previous Aim & Controller videos.
Tip 9 is my problem. I tense up and I’ll couch spam. I couch spam by accident even when trying to thirst a knock
This is the reason I run charge rifle. Tutorial on AA basically. Keeps me away from that range where roller is OP.
Still need to get myself wall bouncing . I need to get those weapon skins. Too bad it's only legendary item per battle pass with points
That altenator LED skin is trash lol😊
Aim assist isnt that great ima b honest AF dont use it as a crutch especially at higer sensitivities against higher skilled players always pratice a lil bit aiming and tracking
I have stick drift on my left stick so it isnt bad for game play but deathbox or deopping things are a pain
Thanks mangos as a true casual player I only get about 10-12hrs a week to play so tha KS for helping me make it to silver I mite make gold b4 the end of the season
I agree with you everything except the vibration bc without vibration I usually realise to late I get shot at
I use ALC on console because is the only way to check the "Use PC aim assist value"
Tip 1 is only for console, you can use steam to change your binding on pc, bind interact and reload on different btn
Aim assist is strong on pc lobbies, but on console 99% of the people u fight also have aim assist. So it’s not as op.
Another thing when using death box, slide into it cause you still travel after
I can never shoot this straight 😥
Play 6 fingers, use ps5 controller.
your welcome :)
What about using ninja button layout
i fucks with ya bro thanks
#5 I prefer slight of hand so I slide armour swap oc pad strafe and fight
This video has given me 15 ways to screw over controller players
