I never rode the new xd40s of 2018 yet but I was listening to a sound recording of bus 7488 and I gotta say the new bus sound quality is different in a good way. Let me ask you this question. In your experience driving buses for the mta nyct how do you pinpoint if the engine and transmission combination sounds good or not also there's no lbss on these new xd40s? The lbss from what I'm hearing performance wise slows the buses down. I can't wait to ride the 2018 xd40s to see how well they perform as far as speed on major streets like Merrick Blvd and others. Jamaica Bus Depot is the first one to get 61 xd40 buses which I was surprised. The announcements of each major stop is impressive but the transfer bus routes and trains weren't included. I heard recently that the mta is doing budget cuts to buses and that they're demolishing the existing Jamaica Bus Depot and I'm wondering where the buses are gonna park during summer 2019.
I would pinpoint the great sound of these buses when I make a great acceleration as hauling power . But the engine and trans doesn't slow these recent buses down . Anyways , what a really great question and a informatibe commentary that I'm aware of.
I recently spoke to a you tuber mta bus fan and he told me that the way cummins manufacture the engines of buses like the 2014 to 2015 xd40s we're too quiet and boring. As a mta nyct fan I've been worried about the crazy shit with nice bus with their bus breakdowns that I witnessed and I was a bus breakdown victim in 2014 and 2018 twice. The nice flu as Andy Randomness would put has spread to the Queens Village Depot and my biggest concern is that it doesn't happen in the Jamaica Bus Depot. I also was told about the issues of the bus breakdowns that consist of the battery electrical components overheated engines leaking tailpipes dirty filters vents etc. I wanted to know from your perspective how well do y'all from the mta nyct maintained the buses compared to the disastrous nice bus that neglect them with no inspections on their fleet of buses?
As to MJQ , maintenance buddies that I knew fixing the engines thouroughly and so much effort to keeping changing little part of our transit buses and also inspections , but in 'NICE' they had no concentration to keeping the bus system perfect as it should be , with less effort.
Facts! What I noticed with the ghostriders of long island known as the summer of hell on wheels aka nice bus is that they don't have enough mechanics compared to mta nyct and mta bus. Long Island Bus by the mta was the best in maintaining their bus fleet but no thanks to Ed Mangano he ruined the lives of people. I've been hearing from bus fans that they want the mta to come back but because of the bad experience financially speaking the mta had years ago it wasn't worth the risk but it won't be easy for them to help out the long islanders that got classes work hospitals and other places you know what I'm saying people are fed up with the bus breakdowns and I don't blame them. Joe Lhota doesn't care about the lives of commuters that are left stranded which really grinds my gears. I also took a picture of a nice flu bus 1882 by the bus terminal that broke down which is getting out of hand and I saw another bus breakdown on Jericho Turnpike on Thursday 1849.
I don't believe it , they cancelled it. I was at church this morning and I still found 2 empty machine slots not finished construction on Remsen and Flatlanda Ave.
