Good work on the concept. Have a look at the SmartDrive. I just bought one because I can still negotiate kerbs and drop offs. The ZX-1 looks heavy and would be difficult to get in and out of the car. It also looks like you could beach it pretty easy if you went through a deep enough dip.
This is absolutely amazing I work in the industry and am always looking at new and innovative things to show both my customers and employers thank you so much for sharing with me.
It’s enhancing to a certain degree however having small front castors can be very dangerous with minor pot holes, cracks etc. I just wouldn’t feel safe enough.
I'm demoing a Smart Drive right now, and it's an innovative product, but sadly, it doesn't look like it's gonna work for my needs, which sucks because insurance will pay for it. Both my shoulders are shot and I need something with a joystick, but don't really wanna do a power chair. This Spinergy add-on looks like it would work well for me, but I'd really like to demo it first since it hasn't been coded for insurance and it's quite an investment. Why on god's green earth hasn't it received coding is beyond me. What say you, Spinergy?
Its incredible how it will not work for a folding wheelchair, with the X in the middle of the frame. So frost you go and buy a band new 2,000 to 3,000 chair and then spend more to have that added on.
Hi I have one of these ZX1's and I think it is awesome, but it needs better battery life like lithium batteries. Once you start going up some hills you suck a lot of life out of these small batteries.
thebones A friend of mine is a quad, been in a manual chair since he was 16, I believe he is 40 now, he played rugby when I met him, the difference in people in manual vs power chairs is weight, no exercise leads to weight gain, there is no way to lose it once it's there.
Maples01 I'm a quad & gained 16kg in 6 years, followed a diet (not one where you're hungry but one that teaches you how to eat differentely) & I lost 15kg in 1year 1/2 so it is possible
Har Dou that's great congrats, if you don't mind, could you send me some details on my youtube account, I've been in a chair for a long time now and for the first time over the last few years, I've put on weight, I'm not happy about it.
Har Dou In the US, the foods that are good are expensive, a person on limited funds just can't afford it, exercise is a necessity, just pushing your wheelchair makes a big difference in that. Congratulations on the weight loss, I don't eat like I should, but keep active enough to combat it, my vehicle doesn't even have power steering or power brakes, so a drive is a nice work out. LoL
日本に住んでいます、購入することはできますか? 購入出来る場合の費用いくらですか?また日本でメンテナンスは受けられますか? Can I buy, live in Japan? How much cost you can buy? You also receive maintenance in Japan?
Exactly...Medicare won't pay for it because it needs a code to get paid for. Why Spinergy hasn't proceeded with getting it coded is beyond me. I bet they'd sell an incredible amount of them if they did. Heck, I'd do it Monday if it did.
+Sam Hugh Because they have to agree on what medicare will pay, guess you aren't aware medicare doesn't pay as much as private insurance companies, some companies are in business to make money selling their products.
+Maples01 My wheelchair rep told me last Friday that insurances won't/can't pay for something that doesn't have a code in which to bill, and this hasn't been coded. As far as your comment regarding Medicare, it'll buy a power chair for somebody, but my Blue Cross Blue Shield policy won't, not even for a high quadriplegic. Blue Cross will pay for a manual chair only, and the individual will have to pay the difference. I was absolutely stunned when I found this out. Other than that glitch, the policy with Blue Cross was great.
Sam Hugh I just told you why yet you skipped right over it. Medicare takes forever to pay on items, so some places straight up won't deal with them period. I found you need someone who knows how to file for items to get them to qualify, the need needs to be proven just a bit further than "high quad, needs power chair," so you have to get the right medical provider that has experience with paperwork. A friend of mine works for the medical supply company where I get some items, he's a quad, the owner, also a quad, I met them at the rehab after I got injured years ago, have been a help. Medicare didn't cover my first ultra-lite chair, medicaid did, same on my second one, they won't pay for a rolling shower/potty chair either, I'm using a 40 or 50 year old E&J that I got from a family member, but they will cover nonsense items.
+Maples01 Hmmm...maybe I'm not being clear. Sorry for that. I have complete tears in my rotator cuffs and really need some sort of power assist or a power chair. My private insurance, Blue Cross Blue Shield of KS would not buy it but Medicare would. It's got nothing to do with how it's worded to get the equipment. The insurance flat out will not buy anything with power. I spoke with my insurance, and then different providers, and they all said Blue Cross won't do it, no matter how it's worded. Now that I have Medicare as primary and a supplemental, I can get a power assist or power chair with no problem. Medicare will pay for a new manual chair and a power assist, like the smart drive, with no problem, but since the Spinergy hasn't been coded (or so says my provider), Medicare won't pay for it.
Ohhh maybe you can spare me a unit. Because im always at home my wheelchair is manual type. Im a struck with polio when i was 6 months old. I really can't afford this. But im taking a chance that you can give me or you can me a second hand unit. Its ok for me i just want to get out of my house once in a while. THANKS.

Same problem with the Smart Drive Power Assist Wheel, these things all rely on the damn straight bar between the push wheels.

only if u hava custom chair but if u have the old type i guess i`d be screwed n being tht my card wont cover it tht makes me double screwed ......
Is it available in India.Wha is its price,is it affordable for India, one dollar is seventy-five rupees.
Nice technology but if you have the use of your arms, stick to using them it is better for your health - period. Great for quads I imagine though.

How much is it and can it be sent overseas? Is it suitable for any w/chair? My son has spastic diplegia and is on a 16inch wheelchair.
Please contact dani@spinergy.com
what country are you located in? Suitable for rigid, manual chairs (not folding)
Does anyone tried it out on the beach? does it work on sand?
no sand, sorry! compact dirt such as a trail is fine.
No chance! The front castors would sink into the sand for a start.

Not covered by medicare, better have private insurance, as with most medical devices that make lives easier
