- Seocho-dong is a legal-dong located in the middle of the east of Seocho-gu, which belongs to the Seoul/Gangnam area, and is the center of Seocho-gu. It is considered one of the richest villages in the Gangnam area and is home to various high-end commercial facilities including Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam Branch, the National Gugak Center, the Seoul Arts Center, the largest comprehensive art space in Korea, the Supreme Court and Supreme Prosecutors' Office, the Seoul Central District Court and the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, the Seoul High Court and the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office. It is the center of culture, arts and judiciary in Korea and the core of power.
As mentioned above, legal institutions such as the Supreme Court, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, the Seoul Central District Court, and the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office are concentrated, and lawyers' offices are the most concentrated in the country, so it is sometimes called Seocho-dong news or Seocho-dong news when delivering legal news.
President Yoon Suk Yeol has lived in Acrobista in Seocho-dong, and became the first building in Korean history where a sitting president has lived for more than a week and commuted to and from his private residence.
Seocho-dong is bordered by Banpo-dong, Yeoksam-dong, Yangjae-dong, and Bangbae-dong, and about half of the commercial districts in Gangnam Station, which has been the No. 1 floating population in Korea, including Seocho Samsung Town, are under the jurisdiction of Seocho-dong.
