- Jimmy Sewnig of the Chicago (IL) Fire Department and Steve Robertson of the Columbus (OH) Division of Fire join the panel to discuss attic fires with an emphasis on knee walls. They discuss the effectiveness of cockloft nozzles, piercing nozzles, and rotating distributors, as well as attacking attic fires by directing streams from soffits. They also review the rekindle problems with blown-in cellulose insulation.

Great Decussion and Lesson from the Mens in the Fire Service.
Great lesson material, and excellent discussion. I have seen commercial establisments where the attic space was deveoped into dual living spaces, for additional revenue. Having seen this, and listening to you guys, I worried about fire breaking out on the main floor(store), and travelling upward(no knee walls), so, I would ask. What would my strategy be?
Directing a hose stream up into a soffit, here in Canada, may not be as effective as in other areas, as right above the soffit is a curved piece of styrofoam creating a channel for air flow. This is generally covered by eitherfibreglass or rocksall insulation( blown in).
Where can we get some of those diagrams/pictures you had in the presentation? That would be valuable stuff to share!
Hey chiefs, I work in a small rural town. We ARE the fire dept. There is no backup.
I'm looking for resources to help with training. I love these videos, but the problem is that there's no hands on with this. I can only visualize the essence of what is being taught.
Do you guys have ideas where I can get, and provide more visual examples?
Maybe this...? ruclips.net/video/3HWF1u4gHgQ/видео.html
