Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader (also known as Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II) is an arcade-style action game co-developed by Factor 5 and LucasArts. The second of three games in the Rogue Squadron series, it was published by LucasArts and released as a launch title for the Nintendo GameCube on November 9, 2001. Set in the fictional Star Wars galaxy, the game spans all three original trilogy Star Wars films. The player controls Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles. As the game progresses, Skywalker, Antilles and the Rebel Alliance fight the Galactic Empire in ten missions across various planets.
Gameplay
Similar to its predecessor, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, Rogue Leader is a fast-paced, flight action game. Each of the game's ten levels introduces mission objectives such as search and destroy or protection that must be completed to progress to the next level. Enemy aircraft are primarily composed of TIE fighters, Imperial shuttles and Star Destroyers. Ground defenses are more varied and include three different walkers, various laser turrets, probe droids and stormtroopers. The heads-up display features a health meter, a radar, an ammunition count for secondary weapons and the "command cross" that allows the player to give limited instructions to their wingmen. The player can control seven craft in the base game: X-wing, A-wing, Y-wing, B-wing, Snowspeeder, the T-16 Skyhopper and the Millennium Falcon. Each vehicle offers a unique armament arrangement, as well as varying degrees of speed and maneuverability. The game initially restricts the player to a particular craft for each level; however, after a level is completed, it can be replayed with any available craft. Some levels offer the player the option to change craft mid-level. Eleven bonus power-ups are hidden in different levels throughout the game. These bonuses improve a craft's weapons, durability and targeting computer and are applied to each eligible craft for the remainder of the game. The player's performance is measured throughout the game, and performance statistics are checked after each level against three medal benchmarks. Each benchmark contains six categories: completion time, number of enemies destroyed, shot accuracy, number of friendly craft and structures saved, number of lives lost and targeting computer efficiency. If a player's performance meets or exceeds one of the level's three benchmarks in all six categories, a medal-bronze, silver or gold-is awarded on completion. Acquiring these medals promotes the player's rank and helps unlock hidden content.[6] Once the player completes all of the training missions and achieves gold medals on all 15 levels, the opportunity to activate "Ace Mode" is awarded. The player may then achieve one more medal per level by completing them with this mode activated.
Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader is set in the fictional Star Wars galaxy, where a war is fought between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance. The game spans all three original trilogy Star Wars films: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles have recently joined the Alliance to help defeat the Empire and restore freedom to the galaxy. The game opens with an opening crawl resembling those featured in the Star Wars films. Further story details are presented through the game's instruction manual, pre-mission briefings, character conversations during the game, in-game cut scenes and movie clips lifted directly from Star Wars films. The game begins with the Rebel Alliance launching an attack on the Death Star, the Galactic Empire's largest space station. In a reenactment of A New Hope 's climactic battle, Luke Skywalker destroys the Death Star after firing into an exhaust port. Skywalker and Wedge Antilles then accompany a Rebel supply convoy from Yavin IV to Hoth. When attempting to rendezvous with a second convoy in the Ison Corridor, they discover that the convoy has been destroyed and are ambushed. After fighting off the attack, the Rebels continue on to Hoth. As depicted in The Empire Strikes Back, Imperial forces locate the Rebel base on Hoth and begin an invasion. Despite Skywalker crash-landing, Rogue Squadron is able to hold off the Imperial attack force long enough for the Rebel base to sufficiently evacuate.

They should make the Rouge squadron trilogy in a HD for digital download for ps, Xbox and PC, would sell more then any triple a titles and probably only cost 1/3 in production.
*Rogue
They should do it and include the old trench run .
Let's be honest, most of the games from the 90s and early 2000s, if redone graphically, would blow away any of the AAA titles made today.
Factor 5 actually made an enhanced port of the trilogy for the Wii called "Rogue Leaders", but never got released due to the studio shutting down. When the company was revived in 2017, one thing they expressed interest in was releasing to game on Switch.
i never realized that the orbital battle of endor was such a smorgasbord of a target-rich environment (from the rebels side, anyway).
The graphics of this are AMAZING!!!
What I would pay to get an official re-release in HD of this game.
This is actually bad TBH, the shaders aren't rendering correctly, it looks way better than this normally.
It's already HD
Hint when fighting the star destroyers: once their shield generators are destroyed, just ram the bridge with your ship. It doesn't cost you a life, doesn't count as a death, and the bridge is still destroyed!
I think that just works in razor rendezvous
Why did you disable the music ? It just ruins everything
Copyright issues.
Oswin Pond but youtube ruins even more :D
Why is the audio in the cutscenes bugged
I remember having this on GameCube
ttc rD
I still have it, plugged in and ready to go.
I don’t remember the AI being this aggressive. Wish they would remake this, too bad Factor5 went under.
I miss these games so much, and I understand that the rights are a mess, but Disney has the lawyers to unimpregnant that mess in a few hours and get ea to set up a hd release.
The best Star Wars game ever created.
Lol what?
Nah, X-wing alliance is better.
@@alexsolosm jajajaja. No
Wat is your controller? Can you share your controller settings? I hvae provlem with oversensitive keyboard and pad.
What's with the textures in the Calimari?
Hi are you useing a Controler for it ? Wich should i use :)
Maybe it is because it is upscaled and not on a 480i display, but the textures look wrong to me.
When Nintendo consoles had top-of-the-line graphics.
Este emulador sirve para ps3? Y como hago para tener el juego " Star Wars rouge squadron 2"???
the Rebel Fleet feels a bit too small for what is suppose to be a do-or-die, "throw everything and hope for the best" Mission.
It’s a game from 2002 so...
@@daveyjoneslocker4703 yeah, i get that hardware limitations may've been invovled, but still...

I like the textures on the fighters and frigate size stuff, but they don't work as well on those Mon Cal cruisers and Star Destroyers... I think it the detailed textures clash with the overall limited detail on the ship models at that scale
holy shit!!! how the hell did you get it to run this friggin smooth??!! Granted its been a while since I tried running either Game Cube rogue squadron game on the dolphin emulator but everytime i did, the opening sequence would run at 2 frame per second!
Are you still working on these levels?
What's the point if you can't have the epic music?
It's all copyright, so the whole video can't be muted.
they dont really need the music anyway. that can be a distraction
people need to pay attention to the task
Edward Moyers they might sing it anyway
Holy shit this looks amazing.
Uh... HELLO?! MUSIC?! WHERE ARE YOU?
Holy flippin hell, my 10 year old cousin could do this shit WITHOUT DYING
One Mon Cal cruiser with a bit of support verses dozens of Imperial Star Destroyers and the Executor....... right. xD
Fluets in one of the books (no longer canon) there was three Home One sized ships (3.2km long) Home One, Indepedence and I forget the name of the third one, then at least two liberty class mon cal cruisers, and about 8 or 9 at least of the standard mc80 cruisers, THEN all the support frigates and corvettes, the portrayal in the film and here is pretty poor, id love to see it redone with today's CGI capability
That sounds much better.
i think the third one must have been the liberty, shown also in x-wing alliance. so liberty class flagship that was also called "liberty."
Fluets even less believable after Rogue One..
Richard Ched Damn right!
where you downloaded the game
Works pretty well, did you use controller or keyboard?
thank you so much for explaining on how to not make the game not run like ass
damn thats one good look emu of star wars.
Very nice movie and nice gameplay this mission are very difficult
No music?
What version of Dolphin, and what stats on PC. I get frame skips and slowdowns with 5.9 v64. :(
What are your specs?
@@yobama5288 Pentium 4 932, 32Mb Ram, Dual GeForce 560x.
Don't sound right without music
I think this emulator has two visual problems that stick out at me.
1) The textures are too sharp. It would be better if they were smeared, looked dirtier, or even a bit blurry. That's closer to real life.
2) Too much of a video look and not a wet film look. That's one thing I appreciated about playing this game on CRT. CRT with all its limitations doesn't draw your eye to things looking TOO perfect or stark. The contrast here is way too high is another way of putting it.
if i remember on the movie the death star destroy 2 calamari star ships
the rebel fleet was a bit more bigger than that in the battle of endor in space
One of the issues I remember about this game was the scaling was way off. The Star Destroyers should have been way bigger.
Where do you get the HD textures?

Dude got shot and turn Into a Tie Fighter Himself💀
why is the aiming so jerky in this game, is it just an issue with dolphin?
it's the player
oh my god dude. ORDER YOUR ASTROMECH TO REPAIR THE DAMN SHIP!!!!
or better yet, DON'T ORDER YOUR SQUADMATES TO FUCKING FLEE!!!!
The game is called Star Wars Rogue Squadron II Rogue leader
Excelente juego.
Don't know what this Dolphin Emulator is, but the textures are all off. Only the fighter look good, the death star, rebel fleet and star destroyers are all wrong. Game Cube got it right. The upside is you can see where the ties are better, but this is overall a step down.
The Dolphin Emulator is actually really really awesome. I bet if you just upped the texture quality of this game without loading the texture pack this video uses it'd look a lot better. These look like cartoons.
a ada Death Star dosent look bad...
Dolphin emu is a program that allows you to play game cube on pc. Its actually great as through dolphin you can have much higher resolution and nicer graphics than gamecube was capable of. The problem here is that the guy added the 'hd texture pack' which makes it look worse for the most part. though a lot of things do look much better, i prefer the original textures. i agree. a step down.
a ada I installed the Dolohin and got this game. only for it to run a few seconds per frame. It was that slow.
@@richardched6085 same....the maximum fps I got is like 23-25
why the emulator? does anyone not own an original copy.
no fuck off

@@yobama5288 You're right. I apologize to you and Lance Bangz, there was no need for my rude and unhelpful comment.
It's a bit hard to record on a GameCube or Wii for that matter.
Far more awesome game than that trash made by EA last year
Edgy
rebel fleet was much more bigger and had more ships in it
this is not too bad but they dont have to make it out to be a retrun of the jedi cliche...every 5 seconds.. with the voices. but the graphics are very good but the motion is not fliud
Horrible modded textures, the ones that came with the game are much better
They are overdone...They tried to be realistic.
this game reminds me the o
ld days
+Dusty212 these are not the original textures to the game.
they only look really bad on the falcon, rebel cruisers, and the at-at's imo
WillyToons+Kunglao Another person that used this texture pack said this is the old version of the texture pack and the new looks better than this
What phone or tablet?
PC
is it possible to run it on PC?
bruh its litterally on an emulator. which means its on PC
@@YoungButRetro sorry, never noticed title
it's like battlefront!!
Strange without the music
nice video: bur the textures are horrible, prefer to the GC textures
You fool. Everyone knows the best way to do this mission is to cheat and use the Slave 1, hold the rotate button and spin while releasing all 20 sonic mines to create a space nuke that destroys all the tie fighters at once
It didn't have those in Rogue Leader, just Rebel Strike.
Music?
He propably turned the music off because of copyright issues.
Oh yes.
It's funny how all the spaceships, dialogue, logos etc are not an issue but the audio is. It bothers me.
+Darth Walrus or maybe it was bugged

i feel like i'm in the minority here, but... i don't rreally like the Rogue Squadron games. i think they aged... badly. i liked them when i was younger but now, years later, i just don't. i don't want to give this game any sort of praise, but i think Battlefront 2 did better.
and as soon as i say that, i can hear the fanboys coming to crucify me...
rogue squadron is not badly aged at all. they do exactly what they set out to do. if you like battlefront better than it just fits your taste better. completely different games
first off: Holy crap, a modest reply and not a death threat. i thought i was gonna get executed for saying this.
but yeah, like you said, different tastes. i liked the games growing up, but as you get older, you start to see the flaws and start not liking what you did long ago.
I think what has aged really well are the sounds and TIE explosions. I feel like I am living out with the movies with the sound effects and music.
But who knows, maybe I am just living in nostalgia. When I first played the game as a kid, I seriously did not believe graphics could ever get better than this... and I thought that for a few years too! (Until RE4 came out)
Might as well peg yourself to the cross now to save us the bother
