Great reviews! I'm with you on muted tones, I've been looking for those versus really strongly pigmented eye and cheek looks. I like the Dior shadow palettes for this reason. Thanks for this video! ❤
Great video. Thx for all the updated research! I loved Han blush, bronzers. I loved Honest beauty blush balms, mascara and lotions. And I liked necessarie a lot, but just got a personal mailer for GRAPEFRUIT Oil?? I was hoping they would expand to face, feet, nails, hair products. Don’t know why they’re avoiding one face cream . I hate to order a deodorant to pay 8. Shipping.! Was hoping they’d have subscription questionnaires to repeat buyers! ( but what do I know??? ) just buy monthly ….. also pet shampoo is very trendy now, was hoping they’d do one canine shampoo/ conditioner . Happy 2025! I’m lost without your research !! Hi coco❤
That new Body Oil is described as having grapefruit oil in it, but if you read carefully, it also has synthetic fragrance in it. Just as the Rosemary Shampoo/Conditioner has synthetic fragrance even though many people think it's just rosemary that is giving it a scent. At least at present, they are no longer offering a fragrance-free deodorant - the only one they are selling has a lot of natural-type fragrance in it (eucalyptus/lavender/fir/ginger/patchouli/orange oil and limonene). I really don't want to smell like that and fear it may be irritating as well. I thought that their neck cream was so good that I couldn't wait for them to expand into face creams, but apparently the neck cream never caught on and now they are getting rid of it. Maybe they just need better marketing?
Hi Lisa! So glad you posted this, it was a nice New Year's Day video to watch! Always look forward to your thorough reviews and this wrap up was great. You've saved me so much money these past few years and I really appreciate your performance reports. (Big bucks saved on the Prada foundation, VB Agustus Bader concealer, and Hourglass blush which I would have picked up otherwise except for your reviews.) I'm glad I got some of the new products from Rituel dF on sale at holiday, but, like you, I don't like these "limited edition" releases as I always find something I like and then can't get it anymore. Their lip oil is wonderful and leaves a beautiful hue on top of nearly any lipstick color, and does not bleed into the lip lines. Let me know if you've reviewed either the Surrat, the Chanel Boy, Chanel ($164 one) or the Cle de Peau foundation and I'll look up those reviews on your channel. If not, those were mentioned by others as a favorite this year and they are quite pricey. HOpefully, they have problematic ingredients in them so we don't have to shell out the $$$ for them! Happy New Year! Thanks again for all your hard work on our behalf! :>)
I'm so happy to have you here for the new year! I am thinking that I will do a review of expensive foundations sometime in the next month or two - I am currently experimenting with the Tom Ford Architecture, the Surratt Dew Drop, and the two versions from Koh Gen Do. All the Chanel foundations except Water Fresh Complexion Touch (which I do like) include fragrance. However, I really like using the Sublimage concealer (which comes in a pot and does not include silicones) mixed with moisturizer (such as the one from The Outset) as a foundation. Chantecaille also makes three pricey foundations that I have tried and can talk about some more. The Cle De Peau foundation includes chemical sunscreen (Octinoxate) and so my skin would not like that. The other brand that I may try at some point is Sisley - they list fragrance but I have been told that it is gentler natural fragrance and the one time I tried a foundation of theirs at Blue Mercury it seemed like it might be okay for me. Thanks very much for sharing your thoughts in terms of the products that interest you! ❤❤
Hi Lisa. I’m very sensitive to fragrance but I love the WA Lip suede lipsticks! There’s something about the texture, it feels so light on the lips and I love the chocolate smell. I purchased the Merit holiday set, it was my first Merit purchase and I was very disappointed. None of the three colors suited me and I didn’t like the texture or how it felt on my lips. Same with their blushes.
It does seem that there is a really strong dichotomy with the Westman Atelier lipsticks, with many people not having any objection to them at all and others finding them to be totally intolerable. I am reminded here of the chemical that is present in green beans that some people cannot taste at all but that others find to be very bitter, and that seems to be specifically controlled by a particular gene - TAS2R38. I feel like the reactions to the WA lipsticks are split enough that something like this is probably going on with them as well. I'm sorry that the Merit products did not work out for you!! Thanks much for sharing your experiences here. ❤❤
Some people complain that it’s a very fake-seeming chocolate smell. Most non-incentivized Sephora reviewers seem to dislike it. How does it compare to the matte Charlotte Tilbury lipstick’s chocolate scent?
I’ve never tried Charlotte Tillbury so I wouldn’t know. I don’t like silicones in lipsticks and I don’t know of any without them other than WA. To me the chocolate smell isn’t offensive or fake. It’s not strong either and you don’t taste it. If I don’t put the lipstick up to my nose I can’t even smell anything.
I personally feel that the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks have a plain vanillin scent that is similar to what is in, say, MAC lipsticks, and also not too strong. But what people can and cannot smell seems to be so individual (and, as I say, maybe in a lot of cases driven by genetics) that I would not be surprised if some people find the CT lipsticks to have a distinct smell such as a chocolate-y one. In terms of other lipsticks that I have tried, the one that I found was most similar in scent to the WA one was from Kjaer Weis. I did not like that one at all either! ❤
Oh dear, I was one of those people influenced by you to buy the new Generation G lipsticks! In the process I bought some of the older formula too, thank goodness. I keep my "off season" lipsticks in the refrigerator, as I divide mine into spring/summer and fall/winter. Even with refrigeration, when I went to apply Generation G Fuzz in the new formula, I thought it tasted/smelled off and I ended up throwing it out. Also, Glossier changed the color ever so slightly on the lipstick Like, and I (and most people it seems) prefer the older version's color, so I threw out the newer one. As they are only $20 each, I'm not too torn up about throwing those out though. I dislike the smell of the older version, but I can tolerate it, and at least the older versions don't go rancid so fast!
I'm so sorry to hear that you ended up having a bad experience with those lipsticks! I sincerely apologize. Glossier does seem to be having an especially difficult time since their founder stepped aside (and was replaced as CEO by a former shoe company executive). I do really like their new-ish lip liners (at least so far!) but otherwise it's been a while since anything they've done has impressed me much. I will keep my fingers crossed for them though. ❤
By the way, in terms of Gen G alternatives, I feel like both the Nars Soft Matte Tinted Lip Balms (which are currently on the Last Chance page of the Nars site) and the Violette FR Bisou Balms have been quite good for me. Both of them do have a mild vanillin-type flavor, which is not my ideal, but otherwise they are holiding up strong for me a couple of years after purchase, in terms of performance and taste/smell. ❤
@@lisapetrison-beautyreviews Ah, don't worry, you don't have to apologize. :) I was reading the Glossier subreddit and a lot of folks mentioned the Violette FR Bisou Balms as good replacements.
Oh, thank you for reminding me about them! I knew I was forgetting someone. Affordable cleaner product companies do seem to be having a really hard time of it, it seems. Very sad. ❤
@@lisapetrison-beautyreviews I bought it with a $15 off coupon. So I like it by itself. It does take a bit of rubbing in. It's not quite as matte as I would like, but with a little powder, I'm good to go. I worried when I saw that it had citrus peel oil in it, as I thought it might have a strong citrus smell, but it has no discernible scent. The amount of citrus oil must be negligible. Once I use up all of my SuperGoop Matte Screen, I'm going to switch to the ClearStem as my go-to for tinted sunscreen, because with a subscription, it's more cost effective. I don't think the ClearStem sunscreen is a great makeup primer, though, so I'm sticking to my Korean Face Republic all-chemical (newer Asian chem filters only) sunscreen for wearing under makeup.
Thanks for doing the research and sharing with us!

This video was very informative & I always appreciate how detailed they are. Thanks Lisa & Happy Healthy 2025!
I'm so happy to hear that! Happy & Healthy 2025 to. you too! ❤
Loved all the reviews! Very useful. Happy new year!
Thanks so much - Happy new year to you too!! ❤
Oh no re: Honest Beauty! I like their cream blush too! Their setting powder I hear is also good.
They did have quite a few products that I really liked. It's very very frustrating. ❤
Oh no re: Han too! Their Malibu bronzer was really nice.
They really did have quality products considering the price they were charging. I am very sad to see them go. ❤

Lisa, have you tried Clearstem’s YouAreSunshine sunscreen? It’s a tinted mineral sunscreen without any hidden chemical sunscreens (I think?).
