the female winner had literally Zero reception at the finish line ! what the heck is wrong with the organizers or her agent , show the woman some appreciation and love . if not a hug , a high five , this is miserable!
sadly this is the sport of running, very little reward for such incredible sacrifices, whilst football players with ridiculous hair cuts on 100 grand a week are celebrated for putting a ball in a net
kiely 456 Absolutely agree. We all like football and other sports of course . But it seems there is a lack of understanding how hard competitive running is , esp for the normal person . Runners appreciate those elite athletes ,I saw it in real life in Lisbon half last year . felt I wasn’t moving ....I even feel it with my own family ,as I’m a runner , they seem to take what I do for granted . As if it’s a stroll down the street , where in reality I’ve just finished a freakin 21 k race in the top 20% . But at least more and more road races are becoming very popular...that makes happy and optimistic..
i can relate to what you're saying, i'm the only runner in my family, i've managed to win a few local races and top 20 finishes in some of the half marathons i've entered, and even though they're supportive of what i do there will always be a disconnect of understanding when i tell them what times i've run and how much training went into achieving it, sadly the sport is still very niche, it has grown in popularity substantially from even 10 years ago though so hopefully it continues to reach people, and maybe one day we'll see elite runners earn the levels of money some of these other sports pay
kiely 456 Very well said 100% my look on running ...like you get excited for breaking your mile record , and your family goes ....oh that’s fast right ? Then one of them looks up Hicham El gerrouj mile time and starts comparing my time to his . Darn it , I’m not a running god :) Keep running my friend . I’m off for a 5 mile tempo run , good luck on your runs ..
I wonder about marathons in other countries other than the US and maybe Britain. Are there running clubs and organizations and is there a universal standard as to how they organize a marathon? It seems in any race you see in any country, there are the motorcycles with the cameras and there might be helicopters overhead so as to provide TV coverage, (I guess there is no such thing as a marathon that has a high-paying purse in which elite runners participate that is not televised) there are the start lines with banners or barricades or inflatable gates which have colorful advertisements for running sneakers or energy drinks or athletic-clothing stores or even beer (etc) , and there are the motorcycles with the camera men aboard and there are the "spotters" on their bicycles staying ahead of the runners partially to help guide them through the course etc etc. Also unless it is an Olympic Marathon in which only elites participate, or at least people who can finish a marathon within a certain amount of time, most if not all other marathons have elites along with thousands of mere weekend athletes or joggers or even walkers just participating to finish the course even if it takes an entire day.
That Kenyan finish tho😂😱it was good but not great.it teaches me something that i can't let somebody take my medal on a 1 yard line.#nevergiveup or #nevergiveitup #team254allday.
Faith Hofmeister Ethiopians still have a long way to go all eyes are on Eliud kipchoge he ran it with 2:00:25bp he's gonna brake the world record soon.all Ethiopians are running it with 2:12:20 not good 12 minutes behind the world champ eliud kipchoge.
Der Pole hat es richtig gemacht. Endlich einmal jemand der versucht mitzugehen mit der Spitzengruppe. Das sollte man öfters machen
Wäre so ein Traum wenn man sowas mal wieder hätte

Marathon or Half Marathon?
Shallow field for a major international marathon. 5 men under 2:20, seven men break 2:30...two women under 3 hours.
How to do this?
