    Thanks for the video and clear instructions! We are in the process of making one right now to give to our boys for Christmas. We have the frame all done, the barrel cut and are just waiting for the poly to dry so we can attach it to the bottom. It is looking awesome. Our boys are going to love it! Thanks again.

    Yep, those spax screws are great. I usually use the brass colored ones.
    By the way, great video. I wish I'd found it before the snowstorm we had last week. Next time I'll be prepared for my daughter to go sledding, she's never done it and she'll have a blast. Thanks!

    Thanks for sharing this vid. Snow is forecast here in Ireland and I'm currently copying your design ☺
    Edit: Barrel was a pain in the ass to work with, so I got some 1mm aluminium plate to use in its place. Also going to put two parallel skids on the bottom to help it go straight. Any videos of yours in action?

    • @SoatMon
      @SoatMon  5 лет назад +1

      Unfortunately we haven't had snow since I made the video so I still haven't tried it out. The two skids on the bottom is a good idea. I would have trouble with the aluminum. When we do get snow, it's usually not very deep and I think the kids would wear through the aluminum on the rocks. I'd love to know how it turns out for you.

      Has anyone tried this to see if it works? Is it to heavy for the kids to pull up the hill?

    great job... one quick question though.. with the screws.. are they protruding so much they might interfere with the performance by chance?

    • @SoatMon
      @SoatMon  5 лет назад +1

      They might but they have a low profile head and have not been an issue.

    What I would have done for the bottom is just rub an old candle on it. It works great for my plastic sleds and hand planes for woodworking

      It's hard for me to say. I cut my own timber and I had the barrel.
