Thanks for giving a good example of quad tracking, its abilities and limitations. For we elderly types, it requires considerably less exertion than sledding. Quads don't get stuck as easily, but they can become very stuck too. Fuel consumption is at least 50% higher than on wheels. We've run an assortment of rigs from 500 Polaris, 700 Arctic Cat and Grizzly, and our current favourite - 1000 Arctic Cat. There is no such thing as too much power. The smaller machines do surprisingly well, but it bothers me to run them on the governor all day long.
Sugar snow SUCKS !! ... But it sure beats stay'in home !! Dang, that's quite the bump you guys are hitt'in at the 3 min mark !! WOO HOO !! Man, that sure makes me miss my tracks and it looks some some awesome rid'in too !!
We're gett'in a ton of snow in our mountains, but the roads are closed - gated- & bare asphalt from the gate to the snow, so my track'in was done some time ago. Just finished my TLC & gonna be do'in my first Round Rubber Ride at the end of the week ... WOO HOO !! LET'S RIDE !!
yes sugar snow sucks lol . but your right it does beat staying at home . there were quite a few good size (for us) snowdrifts off rock faces and such to play with.. and almost all good snow is just about gone in our neck of the woods .. tracks will be coming off this week :( and do a little TLC to the bike before spring starts
Thank you for the compliment Cubbeezx . It was very sugary snow. You're right we could barely walk on it in less it had been packed down. That has been about the deepest we have found around the city.
Definitely more utility out of a vehicle that could never be here normally in those conditions. But being a guy that uses winter to haul loads of cargo and supplies into the backcountry I just can’t see ATV with tracks being able to keep up.
Not saying that they didnt do great in the deep snow, but I really thought that they would have done a little better on the hills. I have got to get me some tracks for mine.
Now thats why I drive a sled. lol No need for WOT all the time..and No need to back up and get a run for it.. YIKES!! So not getting tracks for the atv.. Snow shower anyone??
First belt lasted 10000 km. Retired the next one at 16000km when we finally replaced the clutch with a CVT Tech still going strong. Thank you for watching.
You're absolutely right you can get a very good used sled for that price. But if you can find a used set of tracks that properly fit your particular machine it is worth trying. Without having to buy the adapters is a big bonus. Different experience all together my wife really appreciates the smoothness versus a sled ride at the moment.
We've tried skis. The tracks have a bigger foot pattern versus the skis we've tried. For us it didn't it didn't work out very well. Don't get me wrong still a different type of fun.. That's all these tracks have been for us versus even a snowmobile just something different. And thank you for watching.
William Chap, no way there not heavy enough to sink through to get traction, that's how the tracks work, there super heavy, so when your stuck your really stuck lol but they usually have enough traction and surface area to crawl your way through almost all terrains
Marc at 4:40 your pal on the left goes right by you,, what are all your atv's and track systems. I am interested and would appreciate some dialogue. thanks in advance.
+Bob Smith My friend that passed me has the Tatou 4s tracks mounted on a 650 Brute . He has a lot more power then me and the Tatou 4s is a better track system.. I think ..Thank you for watching.
NoStuck Marc Cool, thanks for the info,, have you tried any other units? I am looking for a big quad with a track system. I now have a 500 Honda but know that it is a bit small and was thinking about going no less than 800cc,, do you have any advice?
+Bob Smith 500 Honda is a good quad . But I understand the need for more power. If you can go to local ATV rides you get a better idea and close up of all the different quads.
Looks like it, but the 4-wheel drive is essential. It is easy to get stuck even if in 4wd but the front diff. isn't locked. You'll even find that many will argue that the slight slippage that exists in the Polaris and Can-Am systems are a negative factor when pushing these rigs to handle the most extreme conditions.
Hi was look at different video and found your. I like the your video. We just cannot seem to get outside the winter is bad here lol!! Have great day!! Check out our channel sometime if get a chance to!!
Those tracks are junk , the machine barely moved in deep snow , the snow bogged the machine down alot , those tracks are worthless , just put real aggressive tread on those quads and call it good , but when you got money to burn HELL burn it up , i ride on three wheels anyway .

OMG, that was awesome! I want tracks! Thanx for sharin'!
The one real advantage that I see with tracks versus snowmobiles is that you can reverse in more situations
Snowmobiles have reverse now lol
I'm impressed how you made it through the deep snow.
Looks like fun, Thanks for sharing.
Good video! Looks like fun. I SO wanna get tracks for my 700 Grizzly.
Jeff Borden thanks for watching.
they are not fast having tracks. but it sure have a cool feeling just like a tank go through anything. almost .

excellent vid, so clear
Thanks for watching Peter.
This was the old hero2 camera still impressed with it.

thank you Jerry.. they are a lot of fun.
Not saying that they didnt do great in the deep snow, but I really thought that they would have done a little better on the hills. I have got to get me some tracks for mine.
Really does depend on the type of snow. that was just small grain snow it wouldn't stick to anything so we couldn't make any traction with it.
some hard on the machines
We have had good luck the three of us . I have almost 14000kms with no issues caused from using the tracks . Same as my friend with 19000kms (Brute)
snowmobile yes , quad no
Now thats why I drive a sled. lol No need for WOT all the time..and No need to back up and get a run for it.. YIKES!! So not getting tracks for the atv.. Snow shower anyone??
Lets bow our head for the spent clutches.
First belt lasted 10000 km. Retired the next one at 16000km when we finally replaced the clutch with a CVT Tech still going strong.

Tracks are cool but very costly , I can buy a great used sled for less than 5k
You're absolutely right you can get a very good used sled for that price.
But if you can find a used set of tracks that properly fit your particular machine it is worth trying.
Without having to buy the adapters is a big bonus.

Certainly revving er. I'd be scared of blowing up any of the fourwheelers I had doing that for that long.
Hes not reving it at all🤣
Need wider tracks for more floatation, like maybe 3 times wider ?
Can I suggest second gear an ease on the throttle early for max lift vs. digging to the buttom
Thet'dope
Soooo, still no substitute for a snow machine.
Raspberry Rock - Off Grid Cabin complete different type of fun.
It might not go as fast but I bet it's more fun than your sled the other 10 months of the year
Too small machines, more power needed
Yes it was.
But that's the machine I had at the time.
I got a Lot of mileage out of that 500.
I do this with my skandic without any stuck , except i am on the reverse gear ( Face palm )
Surely it would be better with skis instead of tracks on the front two?
We've tried skis. The tracks have a bigger foot pattern versus the skis we've tried.

Don't get me wrong still a different type of fun..

it seems really hard on the machine. I was considering getting tracks instead of buying a sled but I don't know, this looks like ill ruin my engine.
A tracked ATV will never be equal to a snowmobile. It's not really designed for deep snow like on this video. It'll definitely be hard on the machine.
Full throttle at all times to go anywhere and super slow. I'd would rather have snowmobile and ride ATV with wheels in summer.
is the video cald snow plowing
At like the 1:37 Mark you could rarely back up. That sucks
do you need power steering with tracks? I don't have it on my rancher, do I need?//
paul nelson No you do not need power steering we have done ok with out. Do not get me wrong it would a nice and welcome feature.
how deep was the snow?
you think tires would have made that also?
William Chap, no way there not heavy enough to sink through to get traction, that's how the tracks work, there super heavy, so when your stuck your really stuck lol but they usually have enough traction and surface area to crawl your way through almost all terrains
You need paddles on those tracks and lots more hp.
Marc at 4:40 your pal on the left goes right by you,, what are all your atv's and track systems. I am interested and would appreciate some dialogue. thanks in advance.

NoStuck Marc Thanks!
Which machine of the three high marked the best in the powder?
cucvs All the Quads did good (Higher the cc the better). But it is the Tatou 4s tracks that do the best in all conditions we found.
NoStuck Marc higher the weight not cc :P
I just got a 90 with tracks
Snowmobile would do a lot better tho
I could drive in that snow with my 75 Buick Super Riviera with snow tires, limited slip and 300 pounds of presto logs in the trunk.
Iguana
Does it feel like it's struggling? Like are you fully pinned?
It does if it is very heavy snow and a small displacement engine.
I've used the track on a number of different machines..
Which one is the outlander 500?
Mine is the 500 (Iam the camera man).
wow it spins the tracks really well! at the beginning I thouhgt it was a 800
***** nj un xp
looks like they need skis on tbe front

Have great day!!
Check out our channel sometime if get a chance to!!
Not even close to as good as a snowmobile
Ivan Hamlyn thanks for watching but I wasn't trying to compete with the snowmobile.
We have a couple of snowmobiles as well neither are the same.
Eipä ole minkään väärti ihan lasten lelu
Adult toy.. we're still having fun with them.
Has to be better tracks out now....this wouldn't be worth it to me.
There's no way this guy isn't in low gear??
Kermit I was in low gear a lot that day.
how many of you crying about getting sleds can run all year?
Tatou track or ??
My friend with the Brute Force has the Tatou 4s great tracks. I run the Apache tracks , good so far as well.
NoStuck Marc you hate try a apache 360 ??
NoStuck Marc i look to buy a track ,have you board ?
theemperor joel I run the Old Apache tracks . Only one of my friends have the new 360 Apaches on a 650 Canam and he loves them .
theemperor joel What set are you looking at to buy?
Those tracks are junk , the machine barely moved in deep snow , the snow bogged the machine down alot , those tracks are worthless , just put real aggressive tread on those quads and call it good , but when you got money to burn HELL burn it up , i ride on three wheels anyway .
Poor engine.
Dick Cheney that engine is still going strong over a thousand hours never had to touch it yet.
