Thank you for continuously sharing these valuable living tips for the lovely town Chiangmai with those who has thought about visiting, settling and living in that area 😊. Chiangmai is on my list pretty among the top options that as I am about to stay and live for a peaceful minimalist life style in just a couple of years, your journey inspires your viewers a lot , appreciate it if you haven’t yet been told so by people who hold a similar value ❤. Hope you and family a best of 2023, peace and happiness 🎉
New subscriber here. I happened across your channel and have been enjoying your videos. My husband and I are planning on retirement. We were thinking possibly Bali or Thailand. We love the country and slower paced lifestyle. Thank you for sharing your life!
Do you currently live in Chiang Mai? What do you like most about it? For me, it's the reasonably-priced yummy and healthy food, friendly locals, cool weather in the winter, pretty cafes, and gorgeous hikes and bike rides that we take. What about you? Let me know in the comments - I'm curious and eager to read your response. :)
That was an interesting introduction to Chiang Mai. Thank you for sharing. After watching the video my wife and I researched the city further. It sounds intriguing and a very nice place to visit. I'll wish you an early happy birthday and hope that your special day is extra special. Safe travels.
Thank you once again for your kind comment and for the birthday wishes. 🙏 Chiang Mai is definitely an interesting place and we continue to discover more and more about it even after living here for 3.5 years. I just love the energy, especially in the countryside. And the Thai people are so gentle, polite and kind. Happy weekend to you and your wife and I hope you are both doing wonderful 🙏

Great video! You covered all the most important parts of living in Chiang Mai so well. Your choice of accommodation is an excellent one--hopefully the price and standard are the norm and not the exception! Thanks for all the great information.
Thanks! I'm actually posting a follow up video to this one which may be helpful, as well, covering topics on renting/buying a vehicle in Thailand as a foreigner, other types of accommodation we stayed at (price, quality, and amenities, etc), as well as some restaurants, cafes, things to do in Chiang mai. 😊
Great Video i have just Retired in Thailand got a place in Huahin but i am seriously thinking Of moving to Chiang Mai as it is too hot down here and i believe north Thailand gets cooler in the winter but saying that Hot is better than UK weather now got 3 months on my rental to decide
If you like cool weather, Chiang Dao gets even cooler than most of Chiang Mai. It does get fairly cold in Chiang Mai in the winter, with the coldest temperature at around 10 degrees Celsius middle of December to first week of February. In 2019, it was even down to 5 degrees Celsius in December and then the warmest is around 26 degrees. But it gets very hot in the summer, the hottest being around 40 degrees Celsius.
@@ASlowSimpleLife OK Thank You never heard of Chiang Dao i asume it is further north but i will do a little research got lots of time on my hands Thanks Again
That's wonderful! As for our favorite vegetarian restaurants, I featured some of them in my recent video, and i also included some links to our favorite vegan/ vegetarian restaurants in the video description ruclips.net/video/5qkNeE3pXow/видео.html
Some foreigners do border runs but there are always risks of being denied entry, which can be anxiety provoking. On the other hand, you can convert your tourist visa to an ED visa by studying Thai language, self defense, or even studying at a university (the latter being a bit more intensive, since you need to maintain a certain grade to keep your student visa). Student visas are from 6 months to 1 year, and depending on the school, it can be renewed every year but not sure up to how many times. I suggest that you inquire from a reputable school regarding this to gain more information. Thanks for your question 😊
Witaj Ewa. Dziękuję za obejrzenie mojego filmu i miły komentarz. Cieszę się, że Ci się podobało, a także przyroda w Tajlandii, którą pokazuję we wszystkich moich filmach. Życzę Ci pięknego dnia. ❤
If you come with 30days tourist visa and extend for another 30days, what happened after that if you want keep stay in Thailand after 3 months? Can you extend another 30 days or you should exit the country for few days and enter again with new visa?
Tourist visas are 60 days, and can be extended for 30 days at the immigration office (total of 90 days, including extension). Visa on arrival is 30 days and can be extended for another 30 days (total of 60 days, including extension). Extension is done locally. Some foreigners have tourist visas back to back, but there's no guarantee that you can keep doing this for several times, especially if there is no gap months in your tourist visas.
@@ASlowSimpleLife thank you for your quick reply, very appreciated. My husband and me loves your youtube, we have planning to live quietly in Chiang Mai side country. We prefer, we can see mountain, green, valley or river from the house. Not sure how to find rental in side country most of the house listing in the resident area. But worry it will be too far and dislocated from others if more than 1 hour.
In my opinion, 1500 USD for one person (inclusive of rent, groceries, utilities) should be enough, especially if you can find a rental house or condo for under 1000 a month.
You're welcome 🙏 I haven't had Filipino food in Chiang Mai, actually. But I have heard from a few acquaintances that there are a couple of Filipino restaurants in and around the city centre. 😊
We lived in Hang Dong too. But considering Chiang Dao, Mae Rim or Nam Phrae. I did a Google search and found this Filipino restaurant in Hang Dong. g.co/kgs/SG6EwA I hope you will love Chiang Mai as much as we do 🙏
Do you get bored living in chang mai is there plenty to do as a retirement pension and would 20million baht give me comfortable life living in Thailand from Scott new Zealand
No, I don't get bored in Chiang Mai. 😊 I am content with going to national parks, camping, going to cafes and restuarants with scenic views, visiting farms, and also traveling to nearby provinces such as Mae Hong Son and Chiang Dao. I have another video on things to do in Chiang Mai based on what I have done so far ruclips.net/video/5qkNeE3pXow/видео.html. If you prefer a more quiet location that's close to nature but not super far from Chiang Mai City, there's Nam Phrae in Hang Dong or Huai Sai in Mae Rim. As for monthly budget, it can be from $500 to as much as $1500 a month, depending on one's lifestyle. But overall, it is inexpensive to live in Chiang Mai as compared to many places I've been to in Thailand and the quality of life is good. This is only my opinion based on my own experience and observation. 😊
I love your voice, the calmness makes the video peaceful, as well as your experience sharing, pretty helpful
Thank you 🙏

Great vlog on the option of relocating to Chiang-Mai. If one can work from home or is ready to retire, this is a great option. 😎
Thanks! That's so true - and I see quite a number of retirees here. Loving the gentle and peaceful vibe of Chiang Mai and the Thai people 😊

We do hope to check it out but I worry about the heat and humidity. I guess you deal with that with air con and a swimming pool. Thx !
Fall, winter and early spring are the best times to visit Chiang Mai. Cooler and dry weather. But the rainy season (mid-summer) is not so bad, too. 😊

Is your house far from the city center?
Yes, our old house was in Hang Dong district, which was 15 kms away from the city center. But this condo is not as far, about 6 kms away.
