  • Chiang Mai is a digital nomad hot spot known for its cheap cost of living, amazing food, nice people and endless adventures! It is the perfect low key city and outdoorsy mix for digital nomads, freelancers, expats and English teachers alike.
    We track our budget very closely - down to even spending 10 baht on a snack at 7-11 so this is a very accurate monthly budget for a couple living in Chiang Mai. The prices are broken down individually (per person).
    In the video we cover our costs for:
    Rent
    Utilities
    Phone Plans
    Food Out
    Groceries
    Coffee
    Gym
    Transportation
    and MORE!

    OK interesting, I have to rent my own condo and I am quite strict on my food, and have expensive health insurance. So my cost of living is $1500 USD per month in Chiangmai, maybe more if you add treats. Not bad for a high quality lifestyle, I was living in Australia on the breadline and spending more than this.

    Thank you for sharing all this precious informations. I see that we have the same way to travel(without the possession/rent of vehicle). And I think to move to thailand in a couple of years. Can you tell me if the public transport(between cities/town not inner cities) is good or if it' s tricky to go from place to place? Thank you again for sharing :D

    • @AmandaKolbye1
      @AmandaKolbye1  3 года назад

      I think it really depends on where/ how far you want to go. i.e., Take into account how much you have to bring, is anyone with you. Does it make more sense to fly or rent a scooter. It comes down to you.

      Hey Derek! I can't speak to all visa information but for us as US citizens we got a 60 day visa and were able to extend. I recommend looking up information with the Thai embassy!

      @@AmandaKolbye1 Hi Amanda, I saw that for US citizens is only 30 days free visa in Thailand. So if we apply in the Thai Embassy we will get 60 days? But what do you say to the embassy? I mean the purpose of the visit. Is it tourism? Thank you.

    What about health insurance? Or is healthcare out of pocket just that cheap in Thailand?

    • @AmandaKolbye1
      @AmandaKolbye1  3 года назад

      we just pay out of pocket as it is pretty affordable, especially compared to America where we are from

    • @oliver-church

      @@AmandaKolbye1 This is actually a good idea, I only opted for an expensive health insurance because it was already a requirement of entering Thailand so I decided to pay slightly more for something with good coverage than 50% less for a useless one.
