Chugga clearly never used Plusle in this game. Plusle is the end all of support mons in Colosseum. Being the only traded Pokemon in Colosseum Plusle will level up very fast, carrying Plusle through the main story will end up with Plusle being level 50 when the rest of your team is about level 46. In addition Plusle's movepool is insane, Plusle is one of the fastest pokemon you can obtain in the game so spreading around Thunder Waves in Double Battles can be insane usefulness, Plusle also comes with Helping Hand. Very few things in the entire game can survive a Suicune Rain+Helping Hand boosted Surf in this entire game. Plusle also touts a decently impressive special attack which it can make us of with it's learned at level 37 Thunder, pairing it with Suicune or Feraligatr Plusle can both Helping Hand a rain boosted Surf or smash a water type with it's own 100% accuracy Thunder before forcing the next Pokemon out to eat your partner's Rain Boosted Surf for chip on the switch. For the post game fights Plusle will also learn both Agility and Baton Pass eventually at level 52. An ideal battle with Plusle will usually go using Agility turn 1 while your water type uses Rain Dance, Plusle will then either Thunder something or Helping Hand the Surf and if need be Plusle can always Baton Pass out it's Agility to a slower Pokemon like Granbull. Plusle also has a few other options like Fake Tears to specifically target certain Pokemon, Growling both enemies, giving Plusle itself Rain Dance in order to set up Rain Dance for your Surfer to start pumping out Rain boosted Surfs on turn 1. There's also a few other things to note. Makuhita will learn Smellingsalts at level 31 so as soon as you purify your Makuhita it will learn Smellingsalts and immediately evolve into Hariyama. Hariyama also being a perfect base 5 speed slower than Ampharos allows you to shoot out 120 power off a 120 attack Smellingsalts by combining Thunderwave and Smellingsalts for a decently effective single target pokemon combo. Furret is the sole exclusive pokemon that learns Follow Me in the entire game, if you want a strategy that involves using Focus Punch or any other strategy that might require Follow Me Furret is your option.
Also take a drink everytime he says something along the lines of "If it evolved I'd seriously recommend it, because it's so much better when it evolves".

I'm shocked at how nice Chuggaa was when talking about Yanma. My guess is he's never actually used one in Colosseum, or even looked at its level-up movepool. Yeah, Speed Boost can be nice, but it's not very useful when you can't damage the enemy for crap and you don't even have Baton Pass In Gen 3, Yanma had an absolutely awful level-up movepool. Yanma is a specially-inclined Pokemon, but the main way you'll rely on damaging your opponents is by using Uproar, a 50 power physical move that doesn't have STAB that's unreliable in the way that it forces you into it for a few turns when you use it and you have no control over which opponent you'll hit. Things get a little better when it gets to level 43, when it learns... Wing Attack. Yeah, that's right. Wing Attack at fricking level 43. That's about the strongest STAB move you can teach it too. I guess you could confuse things with it, but Supersonic is very unreliable. Hypnosis would have been useful in catching Shadow Pokemon, but Yanma doesn't learn it in this game. I've tried to use Yanma in multiple playthroughs and it's been consistently almost impossible to use. I'm actually surprised that Chuggaa just said "Recommended because Speed Boost" and called it a day.

Also unlike Absol, Houndoom takes advantage of its Dark type excellently given its high special attack and access to moves like Faint Attack and Crunch. Although on the defensive side, it does little to no favors for Houndoom.

Miror B GOD I mean, I never said it was *GOOD*, I only said it could be used as one. And 40 spa is pretty bad, but when this is a baby Pokémon, you can’t expect your stats to be great unless you have some sort of drawback or boost. Once again, it may not be a good Pokémon for a mixed set, but it isn’t AWFUL. Just barely usable.
Miror B GOD I’m going to mostly admit that I’m wrong, but I do want to note that Rhyhorn was meant to be a pure physical tank(Rock/Ground being physical), while Meditite’s type lends it to being a mixed. Its stats are pretty bad, yeah, especially for this kind of thing, but I will say that it isn’t impossible to run one(especially since it gets calm mind through level up normally). But yeah, it can’t do as well with Special moves. Valid points
I like how Chugga says "I don't remember it being particularly fast" about Murkrow, when it is faster than an overwhelming majority of the obtainable Pokémon in this game. The only things that outspeed it are Yanma, Sneasel, Raikou, Entei, and Houndoom. So a "not particularly fast" Pokémon just so happens to outspeed 90% of the usable Pokémon, ok chugga.
Remoraid was level 20 because back in Gen 3 Octillery got Octazooka (it's signature move) at level 25 (instead of AT evolution like it is today). I guess they were hoping you'd purify and evolve Remoraid before 25?
I know he states it makes no sense that they didn’t give run away a new effect, but it makes sense to me because they’d have to program it to have an effect in story but take that away for multiplayer because it wouldn’t line up with the core series games that you can link to colosseum, so it’s just easier to label it useless in story
You can feel the pain in trying to market the Johto Pokemon. They're just so bad, whether they're handicapped by Colosseum limiting your options, bad movepools, no evolutions, physical/special split, or just having dogshit stats for no reason.
If remoraid wasn't level 20 when you get it, it would be up there with croconaw and suicune as one of the best water types in the game. Sure it's slow and doesn't have the HP stat that ampharos does, but this thing's type coverage is insane. It has access to so many different moves, and unlike croconaw, it can actually use it's water stab effectively.
On every playthrough of Colosseum that I do I always take Noctowl through the entire game its a brilliant asset on the team when trained properly, I always use a Male as its just my preferred gender of Pokemon and in this game Forretress is a good Pokemon in this game.
Why is this in Pokedex number order and not in order of appearance? I immediately got confused as to why Makuhita wasn't at the very beginning of the video since its the first Shadow Pokemon you could catch in the game.

Apparently on one website (I don't remember the name) that ranked all the shadow Pokemon by tear based off their base stat total apparently over half of the pokemon in the game are either mediocre or just flat out bad and most of them appear in the first half of the game
Pokemon he recommended: 36 (Ariados is just barely included since he was incredibly fair towards it and same with Yanma just cuz of Speed Boost and Sneasel! And yeah no, Hariyama has much more attack than Hitmontop, Hitmontop is defense oriented. More defensive than Hitmonchan in fact!) Pokemon he didn't recommend: 14 (less than awesome is a terrible way of describing Pokemon and Ledian being a superhero, it has to be a joke. Granbull is slower than Ursaring and has lower special stats!) Yes, I know he wishes for the evolutions to exist but he's still fair towards a lot of Pokemon and a few times it's surprising! Y'all stop being ignorant!
It's weird to me how positive he is about granbull but not ursaring as granbull only has intimidate over ursaring every other stat ursaring is way better
it irritates me so damn much when I see videos of people playing colosseum and they fucking box Umbreon. For fucks sake, just because he's not a sweeper doesn't make him any less good of a Pokemon.
Umbreon isn't a good pokemon for story mode, as it has low attacking stats and it hasn't got many coverage options. It's a great tank, but Double battles tend to be faster than Singles, meaning people try to win as fast as possible. Tank Pokémon aren't great in double battles as they can be worn down with double-targeting. Umbreon is good in single battles, but he falls just short of being good.
JCBro2014 Why did you box espeon, its a great pokemon and a lucky starter. The amount of damage the espeon put out is beyond belief amazing. My espeon is lvl 86 and it is one of my star pokemon.
@@No_Sleepee incorrect, only non shadow pokemon are shiny locked. you can shiny hunt all shadow pokemon in colosseum. i can provide of a playlist of like 20+ videos of people catching shiny shadow pokemon if you like
@@No_Sleepee a shadow pokemon's data isn't reflected in its first fight (probably done this way for the shadow moves being custom), rather it's data is only reflected after it's caught or on refights. This means that, outside of the one fight with the Cipher goon in Agate where he beats up a Pikachu first, the shiny status of a shadow pokemon isn't shown before catching it the first time. Shadow pokemon can be shiny, you just need to catch it first to see.
8 years later, but I am disappointed in the lack of research done for this tier list of ingame Pokémon for Colosseum. I like the stats presentation a lot and some points you brought up were valid, but it was also lacking. 2014 was the beginning of the height of double battles since vgc was beginning to get a lot of attention; and this video from the same era is more of a casual discussion. Plus why did you talk about the Pokemon in sequential National Dex order instead of the order in which you catch/acquire them? Seems like a huge oversight.
going for a very different team with Espeon Bayleaf Makuhita Quilfish Sawblu Slugma I get all my pokemon early and they are not too OP pokes what you guys think?
OK I feel I should clarify with what Philip has said I already knew about that all of that one of the reasons I wanted magcargo for both rock and fire type attacks so I could have bugs covered along with altaria and I got those covered, and I do know what stab means. I also know about having haft of my team weak to bug if I had used umbreon I know weaknesses and chuggaaconroy even said that in the series when you first find bayleef that if you use him/her along side umbreon and espeaon that haft of your team would have a weekness to bug though the only bugs that could probably sweep you are ninjask, sycther(maybe), scizor, heracross and maybe armaldo.
I love how the full thing happens a year after the LP ends. P:S: Are you going to do all of Chuggaa's Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness bios after the LP is over?
Unless Esepon knows "Reflect", I would recommend getting Fortress purified and using it. You may also want to swap Feraligatr for Suicine, since it can learn Aurora Beam and Rain Dance. Heck, swap out for Ampharos for Raikou, and then use the Rain Dance/Thunder combo with it Suicine or Feraligatr, and you can pawn most Pokemon that are not Ground type or having Lightning Road for their ability.
He made such a big deal about being weak to bug types when in this gen there were like 3-4 good lines of bug types and not that many great Bug type moves.
"Dunsparce needs an evolution" and thus it did in Gen 9 with Dudunsparce. It may not be the evolution we wanted, but it's the evolution that Dunsparce needed.
In case anyone sees this in the future. Remoraid is lv. 20 do that it can evolve into octillery and learn octozooka at lv. 25. But I mean, it has the same power as bubblebeam with 15% less accuracy and 50% chance to lower accuracy do it doesn't seem that worth it to have such a weak pokemon to get 1 move
I’m just saying, but if Pokémon Colosseum was made during Generation 9, there would be a lot more variety of Shadow Pokémon in Colosseum, as some Shadow Pokémon would be different while some Shadow Pokémon would stay the same. Like an example of Shadow Pokemon that would be different are the Shadow Bayleef and Shadow Croconaw, which would be replaced by a Shadow Dartrix and a Shadow Dewott, respectively, due to the Rowlet Line and the Oshawott Line being in Gen 8’s Legends Arceus and they can also be transferred over to Scarlet and Violet, while the Shadow Quilava would stay the same. Or they could replace the evolved Shadow Johto Starters with a Shadow Quilladin, Shadow Braixen, Shadow Frogadier, Shadow Thwackey, Shadow Raboot or Shadow Drizzile.
Michael Allen Sorry, I meant resistance. If a type gets one point for a resistance and loses a point for each weakness, Ice comes out with -3, Rock with -1, and Grass with -1 as well. That makes Ice the worst defensive type
Someone needs to tell Chugga that he got his bio on Makuhita wrong. I've played Pokémon Colosseum since I was 7, and I always caught Makuhita without damaging it. The Makuhita in Colosseum will always be caught on the first Pokeball.
Generally ide think the most balanced starter is Decidueye. Its stats are distributed to fit any type of role, albiet some are only mediocre and niches. Decidueye can a be an mixed offense tank that anything, which sets it apart from every other grass starter.
Jason Calderon too bad Decidueye is too balanced to be better at anything, hell, Decidueye was my weakest pokemon for a good chunk of my Moon playthrough. Compare Primarina and Incineroar who were m Ace and main sweeper respectively.
The way I use Ledian is as a support such as throwing up light screen, reflect, and safeguard. I manage to make Ledian fast enough to pull off those moves and support my team effectively.

I know he states it makes no sense that they didn’t give run away a new effect, but it makes sense to me because they’d have to program it to have an effect in story but take that away for multiplayer because it wouldn’t line up with the core series games that you can link to colosseum, so it’s just easier to label it useless in story
I’ve noticed you could potentially end up with a lot of Colosseum and XD native Sinnoh and Hisui dex Pokémon
Thank you. This helps plot out my next play through and is more entertaining than looking at a chart 🙏
You can feel the pain in trying to market the Johto Pokemon. They're just so bad, whether they're handicapped by Colosseum limiting your options, bad movepools, no evolutions, physical/special split, or just having dogshit stats for no reason.
Smeargle move set sheer cold, lock on,spore all you need
If remoraid wasn't level 20 when you get it, it would be up there with croconaw and suicune as one of the best water types in the game. Sure it's slow and doesn't have the HP stat that ampharos does, but this thing's type coverage is insane. It has access to so many different moves, and unlike croconaw, it can actually use it's water stab effectively.
So many mons have Faint Attack as their first attack
On every playthrough of Colosseum that I do I always take Noctowl through the entire game its a brilliant asset on the team when trained properly, I always use a Male as its just my preferred gender of Pokemon and in this game Forretress is a good Pokemon in this game.
Why is this in Pokedex number order and not in order of appearance? I immediately got confused as to why Makuhita wasn't at the very beginning of the video since its the first Shadow Pokemon you could catch in the game.
Yeah I'd prefer it if it were that way
This is why colosseum needs a remake
Those catch rates are incorrect, some catch rates were altered in this game to be either easier or harder to catch, here's the real catch rates in this game:
Bayleef: Original: 45 / Colosseum: 180
Quilava: Original: 45 / Colosseum: 180
Croconaw: Original: 45 / Colosseum: 180
Togetic: Original: 75 / Colosseum: 45
Misdreavus: Original: 45 / Colosseum: 90
Mantine: Original: 25 / Colosseum: 90
Skarmory: Original: 25 / Colosseum: 15
Raikou: Original: 3 / Colosseum: 15
Entei: Original: 3 / Colosseum: 15
Suicune: Original: 3 / Colosseum: 15
Tyranitar: Original: 45 / Colosseum: 10
Makuhita: Original: 180 / Colosseum: 255 (Always a guranteed catch)
Tropius: Original: 200 / Colosseum: 45
Metagross: Original: 3 / Colosseum: 15
Card E room (Japanese only)
Togepi: Original: 190 / Colosseum: 45
Mareep: Original: 235 / Colosseum: 45
Scizor: Original: 25 / Colosseum: 45
I just realized, he did the Jirachi download for one of his bonus episodes for this playthrough. I wonder why he didn’t do a bio for it?
Wasn't it a one only download?
@@TrueTrickster2016 only once per save file. That bonus disc simply distributes the data, so he could have a never ending supply of Jirachi, so long as he has a fresh Ruby or Sapphire save file that didn’t receive one already.
Man I am so upset on how many useless pokemon there are in this game especially in early and mid game.
Wesley Tran It was disappointing, but it was mostly there to get the Johto Pokémon you couldn't get in Ruby & Sapphire.
I really wouldn't say they're useless.
Johto has a lot of bad Pokemon, it's just a sad fact. VERY few Johto Pokemon are good.
BigKlingy exactly. Which is why the majority of the new gen 4 evolutions are from jhoto Pokémon lol
Apparently on one website (I don't remember the name) that ranked all the shadow Pokemon by tear based off their base stat total apparently over half of the pokemon in the game are either mediocre or just flat out bad and most of them appear in the first half of the game
Emile, Sleep Clause does not exist in Video Game Championships.
8:00 sudowoodo 8:05 skiploom 8:40 aipom
Funny part is that the sprite they use for smearagle is the shiny sprite in most games
ok good im not the only one watching this shit before we lose the internet
This and Gale of Darkness has all the pokemon that evolve in 4th gen as shadow pokemon lol.
WiiParty2010 only jhoto and like 3 or 4 hoenn pokemon can be shadow
@Hunter Zalo thank you for reminding me how much of a foolie kazoolie i was so long ago
Hey Chugga, ice doesn't have the most weaknesses by itself. Grass does! Fire, Flying, Bug, Ice, and Poison.
Kyle Lemke yes, but grass has four resistances (water, electric, grass, ground), while ice only resists itself.
spindash64 I think Ice should be strong to Water.
+philip spence Grass resists electric
+sombreromoustache There is one ice move that is good against water. That's Freeze-Dry.
SuperLemonadeGamer i'm aware that grass is neutral against electric I was just saying it's weaknesses when paired with flying I skiploom
Noctowl, Ariados, Forretress, Misdreavus & Jumpluff are useful in this game.
Pokemon he recommended: 36 (Ariados is just barely included since he was incredibly fair towards it and same with Yanma just cuz of Speed Boost and Sneasel! And yeah no, Hariyama has much more attack than Hitmontop, Hitmontop is defense oriented. More defensive than Hitmonchan in fact!)
Pokemon he didn't recommend: 14 (less than awesome is a terrible way of describing Pokemon and Ledian being a superhero, it has to be a joke. Granbull is slower than Ursaring and has lower special stats!)
Yes, I know he wishes for the evolutions to exist but he's still fair towards a lot of Pokemon and a few times it's surprising! Y'all stop being ignorant!
I miss Pokemon Colosseum, for its the best Colosseum game ever.
I could sleep to this
Stantler can evolve, NOW!
As well as Qwilfish, into Overqwil.
L I M I T E D O P T I O N S
It's weird to me how positive he is about granbull but not ursaring as granbull only has intimidate over ursaring every other stat ursaring is way better
The issue with Ursaring (from what I see) is the fact that you can't obtain it until the aftergame
it irritates me so damn much when I see videos of people playing colosseum and they fucking box Umbreon.
Someone's triggered
Yeah, but stall isn't fun in single player. Hitting hard is preferred in single player, and 65/60 attacking stats, Umbreon does the exact opposite.
I box Umbreon and Espon early on, they're good to start with but you're gonna soon find more useful Shadow Pokemon to work with.
JCBro2014 Why did you box espeon, its a great pokemon and a lucky starter. The amount of damage the espeon put out is beyond belief amazing. My espeon is lvl 86 and it is one of my star pokemon.
33:45 man i can not wait to shiny hunt that bad boy
Everything in Colosseum is Shiny-locked
@@No_Sleepee incorrect, only non shadow pokemon are shiny locked. you can shiny hunt all shadow pokemon in colosseum. i can provide of a playlist of like 20+ videos of people catching shiny shadow pokemon if you like
@@paulydoregon Interesting. I was misinformed about everything being shiny locked. I got it confused with the wild Pokémon in XD
@@No_Sleepee completely understandable, prior to like 5 years ago there was so much misinformation that hadnt been confirmed or documented.
13:53 “It doesn’t affect Misdreavus.”
to everyone that watched chuggaaconroy as a kid. consider yourself lucky he didnt message you
He’s not a predator he’s just a weirdo💀
I really want a Heracross on my squad. That high speed will make sure I go first every turn, and when I do attack, I'll deal tons of damage.
It's only 85 base speed... which is good, but not fabulous.
50% of what Chugga says is the pokemon needs a mega evolution.
+C Loud hate how game freak just gives a mega instead of evolution
I also know about having haft of my team weak to bug if I had used umbreon I know weaknesses and chuggaaconroy even said that in the series when you first find bayleef that if you use him/her along side umbreon and espeaon that haft of your team would have a weekness to bug though the only bugs that could probably sweep you are ninjask, sycther(maybe), scizor, heracross and maybe armaldo.
yes I'm glad someone finally understands
I love how the full thing happens a year after the LP ends.
P:S: Are you going to do all of Chuggaa's Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness bios after the LP is over?
Yup.
+Mr. ToadTheGamer Well it takes her/him To Figure out Which Videos have Bios.
HYPER MODE is in metroid prime 3
I caught mantine my 1st try (for my first play through)
Octillery saved my bacon in the last battle. Beat Salamence and Scizor for me! Also beat Machamp before going down!
My favorite Johto water type!
I don't really change my team around much in any game once I have one I like. This doesn't seem any different
Sooooooooo...I would like for someone to rate my future team Espeon, Ampharos, Heracross, Feraligatr, Flygon, Entei
Very strong team, but I don't really see any defensive capabilities.
Very good team, but you may want to get a defensive Pokemon unless you intend to over level your team (i always get something to wall regardless)
Hey guys what's the name of the pokemon at 21:52?
5:38 Subtitles XD
He made such a big deal about being weak to bug types when in this gen there were like 3-4 good lines of bug types and not that many great Bug type moves.
Why did the Smeargle have a red brush for a tail in Chuggaa's game when the bio picture had a green one?
Colosseum models are weird
Colosseum reused models from Pokémon Stadium 1&2 where Smeargle originally had a Red tail for its regular color.
Slugma's ability isn't blaze. I caught one and it has magma armor.
There's also Flame Body.
As well as Pan/Simisear.
Chuggaa put an annotation in his video for that bio and corrected that mistake saying Slugma can have Flame Body or Magma Armor as an ability.
0:00 MR. STEAK
"Dunsparce needs an evolution" and thus it did in Gen 9 with Dudunsparce. It may not be the evolution we wanted, but it's the evolution that Dunsparce needed.
I know no one's gonna see this, but I bet Chugga's gonna use Mantine in Platinum, even though he already has Milotic as a Water type
Nah
This comment is after the platinum LP and you are wrong the final team was Torterra Crobat Clefable Gallade Milotic and Dusknoir
Well this comment did not age well
In case anyone sees this in the future.
Actually, I've used a ledian in moon, and it was a great asset to my team.
I suprisingly caught mantine in the first ball at I think full health.
While I get putting them in number order but I prefer order you see them in game
14:40 *Donald Trump's ears perk up
LuckyLefty could that be the reason for the pause?
I noticed something; Emile accidentally put Blaze as the ability on Slugma's bio when it should be Magma Armor and Flame Body.
This is why I hate playing Colosseum. Their options are extremely low and those options tend to REALLY suck.
Actually Rock has 5 weaknesses where as ice only has 4.
Grass also has 5 weaknesses.
SuperMarioKid64 Yes, but Ice only has one weakness.
Butterfree ! It has 4 x'D Fire, Rock, Steel and Fighting. X'D
Michael Allen Sorry, I meant resistance. If a type gets one point for a resistance and loses a point for each weakness, Ice comes out with -3, Rock with -1, and Grass with -1 as well. That makes Ice the worst defensive type
Can someone fix the closed captions plz?
Someone needs to tell Chugga that he got his bio on Makuhita wrong. I've played Pokémon Colosseum since I was 7, and I always caught Makuhita without damaging it. The Makuhita in Colosseum will always be caught on the first Pokeball.
41:42 - xatu hitting the dab
Generally ide think the most balanced starter is Decidueye. Its stats are distributed to fit any type of role, albiet some are only mediocre and niches. Decidueye can a be an mixed offense tank that anything, which sets it apart from every other grass starter.
Jason Calderon too bad Decidueye is too balanced to be better at anything, hell, Decidueye was my weakest pokemon for a good chunk of my Moon playthrough. Compare Primarina and Incineroar who were m Ace and main sweeper respectively.
How does he make the bio thing
Masaeannela makes them.
+Collin “Burning Infernape” Drey really proof?
+Mostillist 623 Or at least that's what I've been told. Sorry. Don't really have any proof.
Collin Drey o ok
Collin Drey She only does the background art for some of the special Pokémon.
I played this and crystal back to back, over that time I learned just how bad half of johto pokemon are
i would disagree on ledian. it was my first shiny and i actually use it and it does good
The way I use Ledian is as a support such as throwing up light screen, reflect, and safeguard. I manage to make Ledian fast enough to pull off those moves and support my team effectively.
never played this :(
Bug isnt that Common honestly in this gen
