I do love these scenes you see the frustration but also fear in Steve. He desperately wants to help her and protect her but doesn't know whats she's gotten herself into. Then when he finds out that she's undercover his overprotectiveness kicks in. No one screws with his ohuna no one and if you try you better run and hide because he is gonna come down on you like a ton of bricks.
At the end of the day these things happen especially with long running shows. A deal couldn't be made and that's that both the actors and studio have the right tonsay no deal. Also to pay 4 actors the same rate that just doesn't happen. I would say this though later on in the show it didn't make sense that Scott caan got equal pay with Alex o'loughlin as he no longer was the second lead. So I don't know if Scott still got paid for the missing episodes. But I believe that if properly planned they could have given less episodes to all three Scott, Grace and Daniel and paid all three the same rate as Alex and still be within budget. But on the other hand they needed new blood which is needed in long running shows too. I'll say this out off all the cast members Alex earned his pay and you can see his health decline in the show from season 8 onwards.

I love this - I loved Kono! ... Still furious that they didn't try harder to keep Grace Park on the cast, it honestly killed the show for me.
