Here's an issue no one seems to have noticed. The mono/stereo version of this plugin produces stereo effects with no way to keep them mono. Consequently, when the mix is switched to mono, the level of the vocals drops, making it fall back into the mix. Even inserting a plugin immediately after CLA Vocals to convert back to mono fails to rectify this issue - likely due to some phasing misalignment.
@dianed81935 Sorry, no. I'd forgotten all about it. I just looked on the project where I'd discovered the issue. It seems I must have given up and just switched to the 'Stereo' version, which doesn't have this problem.
Its cool to get your vocal as dialed in as you can with other plugins then use this at the end and scroll the presets to see if it somehow makes the vocal better or it might create a cool sound to layer on top of your vocal.
That is definitely worth a try too, you may get a cool effect. But typically, I either use this plug in as a “all in one” or just mix with individual plugins from my DAW
Great video. Q: do you add this plugin to the end of a chain that's already on the track or you put the plugin on a track with no other plugins? Cheers 🥂
I haven’t tried the CLA EPIC but from what I heard it’s more geared towards delays and reverbs. The CLA Vocals is more focused in being an all in one vocal plugin which includes (eq, compression, delay and reverb). I think it’s worth it for the price but at the end of that day it depends on what results you are trying to achieve.
@@homestudioacademy Nolan thanks for that and i do have nectar 3 so was seeing is there something extra this plugin can bring extra as it is very low priced right now
Awesome! What I can tell you is that nothing is set in stone. Ryan Tedder’s go-to preset works for his own voice but does not necessarily mean it will work for everyone else’s. So just mess around with the settings for your own voice. As a rule of thumb though, less is more.
@@homestudioacademy I’ve been using just an SSL E channel into an 1176 with a reverb and delay send and it seems to make the vocals sound fat af. Do you have any recommendations?

Definitely not! This plug in just a tool to create music. There is so much more that goes into making a record: songwriting, lyrics, melody, arrangement, a great performance, producing, mixing and mastering. I’ve used it in my productions before and had good results. However, as I stated at the end of the video, I do prefer to mix with individual plug ins because it gives me more control of the overall sound. I recommend the CLA VOCALS for beginners, those who don’t want to go in too deep into mixing or those that just need a good sound on the go.
Hey lildrummerboy80, the vocal chain used on this video was: Neumann Tlm102 Mic, going into my Apollo Twin (clean/no UAD plugins used) and just adding the CLA vocals plugin to my vocal track.
