Welcome to my long-awaited arachnid feeding video! I absolutely LOVE keeping tarantulas, true spiders and scorpions as pets and I sincerely hope that those of you with fears/phobias will learn to appreciate them and maybe even develop a newfound curiosity through my videos! Don't forget to answer today's video's QUESTION OF THE DAY in the comment section below! A sincere thanks to my patrons over on Patreon for making videos like this possible www.patreon.com/Reptiliatus !
For me, it's still a goal, but as an ex-aracnophobiac, it would really make me realize how far I've grown as a person if I could feel confident enough in my skills to keep a few tarantulas one day. ❤
Very nice! No, no. Once every few days is more than enough. If they are super tiny I’d say 2 times a week is sufficient. I feed blueberry one meal every 1-2 weeks. Usually every 2 weeks. Just remember not to water them. They like it dry!
@@Reptiliatus ok, then I missed it. I don’t know how, I feel like I spend wayyy to many hours watching my peeps on RUclips. But I’ll go find it. And NEVERMIND….LOL.
I really enjoy all your videos but your tarantula/scorpion feeding videos are my favorite. You get such good footage and I love seeing all the beautiful inverts hunting
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that! You’d be surprised how many other spiders I filmed that just didn’t make the cut. I really try to always show the best!
I really appreciate how much your love and respect for the species you keep comes through, and how much you really want to educate and share your critters with others.
Personally, my favorite part about keeping tarantulas is seeing how certain specimens can look drastically different pre to post molt. Raising aphonopelma, phormictopus & pamphobeteus has been a beautiful experience as they can look like a completely different spider between instars! Raising a spiderling and witnessing its adult coloration come in is something very fulfilling.
A superworm got away my javenile salmon pink bird eater and dug into the ground i was unable to get it.. 10 mins later i come back and my tarlantula somehow dug it up on his own. Crazy how they feel every little tiny vibration. I bet they even know when an earthquake will happen before people do
Yes! They are very sensitive to movement since they depend on sensing vibrations to find their prey! Tarantulas aren’t visual hunters. At best, their eyes detect light and dark (as far as we know) and they hunt based on movement ☺️.
I’m not criticizing; I’m too new to this hobby for such a thing, but does that Brazilian White knee have enough room? She looks like a BIG girl on camera.

Great question! Tbh I go back and forth. Once upon a time I used to keep all the tarantulas I had in glass terrariums. I just found they didn’t use the space or just chewed up and destroyed any plants I put in their enclosures. That being said, I’ve been thinking about potentially rehousing all of them into front opening enclosures and trying to give them some cool backgrounds, etc so we’ll see. It’s not a priority because I know they are content and feel safe, etc as is but I may consider it after I finish a few more pressing upgrades ☺️. Thank you for watching and thank you for your question!
Hi. Brilliant video! Great video clarity /quality. A pleasure to watch. Please could you let me know which substrate you use? It seemed loose and fibrous so perfect for the T's to build tunnels etc. I've tried coco fibre, spidersubstrate, topsoil/ compost, sand, but many of my T's don't build burrows and tunnels as the substrate's too small and dry. So i tend to rely on a good bark hard. But yours looks much more natural and more beneficial for your T's. I'd appreciate your advice. many thanks Justin UK
Great video! As for the QotD, I love how low maintenance invertebrate pets are compared to other exotic or even common household pets, along with the amazing diversity among them in size/color/temperament. They also are very intriguing to learn about and watch. They are so rewarding to keep!

A question, I seen the molted skins, but not very close up. I am wondering do they loose their hairs when they molt, or do they grow new ones?
They have a whole new fresh set of it under each moult! For example a lot of tarantulas kick off all their urticating hairs and have a bald spot before a mount. When they emerge from the old exoskeleton through the moulting process, the new exoskeleton is covered in a new set of urticating hairs :).
