    This really showcases the incredibly tasteful and thoughtful phrasing of George Harrison. He was far more skilled than he’s given credit for because he always served the song in such an understated way. Same with all four Beatles: the whole was infinitely greater than the sum of its parts.

    • @Daberney
      @Daberney 4 года назад +25

      sto620: I agree. Also, I think George did the best guitar playing of his career on Abbey Road. During the solo years that followed, he played mostly slide, which he was quite good at, but I definitely missed missed hearing him play fretted lead guitar.

      Yessir.. All Things Must Pass might be my second or third favorite album ever and it's a really amazing showcase of everything George could do. Strum lightly or with heavy rhythm, play a variety of styles like Blues, Folk, Rock, Country, and of course his smooth ass licks and solos. What a legend. my favorite beatle just slightly over Paul.

    • @hasselett
      @hasselett 3 года назад +1

      Indeed. What made The Beatles so great was the sum of its parts. The individual members all had decent solo careers, but apart from George's All Things Must Pass (by far the strongest release by any member post-Beatles), there is not an album of the individual members which even comes close to their least impressive efforts as a group. Paul was the musically versatile, John the best lyricist, George something in between, Ringo the drummer. They needed each other to thrive.

I am literally stunned. Call work tell them I can't make it in today. This powerful video, I need time to process this. My mind just got bent. I'm obsessing about this song, this video already. This has never happened before; the obsession part. I've had to have this Vid before, why is it so prevailing today. I need to go to work to get my mind onto something else. Now, Something by The Beatles is bringing low to a slow roll; just using the word in a sentence. Because of this Vid. I need to talk a walk, get some fresh air.

    Very George. His tasteful understated playing is always a joy. Someone whose opinion I value once told me that I am a George Harrison type of guitar player I was highly complimented.

      @@bo-banski2883 I think he didn't mean I sounded like George but that my approach was similar. :) Though I can lovingly reproduce his solo in Something which took some practice. :)

    You got it right alright. It's one of my favorite Beatles songs. Also, you can do karaoke with it, it's that good.

  • @bimwopbarn47
    @bimwopbarn47 11 дней назад

    it's very good, thanks. interesting that you played John's part with a pick as he played this with a fingerpicking style called travis picking. your way of doing it is much harder, but you nailed it.
    John also used travis picking in the beatles on julia, dear prudence, happiness is a warm gun and sun king, and on his first solo album, a song called look at me.

    Actually, the second guitar was John fingerpicking the pattern that Donovan showed them. John used it on Dear Prudence, Julia, Octopus Garden and others.

      Yes. It's that pattern that Donovan showed them. John was the only one that used it. To clarify, OCTOPUS' GARDEN has fingerpicking. IN MY LIFE does not.
