Does anyone remember that box that was illegal to have but when hooked up to the tv it would give you all the paid channels on cable (Disney, HBO, Showtime etc) for free? I think it was called an unscrambler. Anyway in the late 80s and early 90s my mom couldn't afford those channels so her boyfriend gave us one of those unscramblers so we got all the channels free.. I was about 5 years old in 1989 and I remember how excited I was to finally get all the good channels, especially Disney for free! I believe Cable patched up the illegal box sometime around 93 but damn that box was a God send for us poor 80s kids. This clip brought back memories
The "Disney Channel Halloween" promo has both "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" starring Jeff Goldblum (which had a much better ending than other film adaptations) and its animated counterpart from "The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad".
WOW does this bring back a flood of memories! You know I recently bought a DVD containing two of the Halloween specials featured in the Halloween lineup promo: The Halloween That Almost Wasn't and Witch's Night Out. You know the two years that border this one (1988 and 1990) also featured a Halloween lineup promo in October of those years and if you can find them posted on this site you'll note that both included Mr. Boogedy whereas this one does not. That movie was featured on the Disney Channel in October, 1989 but the reason that it was not included in this promo was that it's sequel: Bride of Boogedy was also on the Disney Channel that month and so it was decided to air both previews together in their own individual promo. My heart does get extremely heavy at 5:15 seeing that close up shot of Dean Jones in Blackbeard's Ghost. A lot of you probably know that the world lost him last year. Farewell to a Disney legend and incredible actor! The Friendship in Vienna promo is an excellent reminder of how striking and realistic the Disney Channel once was. I'll conclude this by saying that I'll never forget the glory days of the Disney realm when it lived up to Walt Disney's vision (both in physical locations and in the media) and served as a true source of inspiration and fulfillment for the entire universal civilization!
this is the Disney channel family weekend lineup, at 7:00pm the television premiere of Walt Disney's Cinderella, at 8:30pm not quite human 2 and at 10:30pm videopolis: startracks 5.
RyGuy, I have another question. After Cinderella is over, is there a Walt Disney Imagineering promo immediately following the film? The reason for my asking is because when my Aunt gave us a copy of Cinderella, it was a Disney Channel broadcast from 1989, which starts right at the screen with the directors of the film, then once the film is over, there's a brief Walt Disney Imagineering clip :)
Joe Bryant Back then, you had to buy a separate TV tuner that had CC on it to hook into your TV set for that stuff, and certainly those didn't come cheap! It wasn't until the 90's when they required TV sets to have them in them.

Yeah, it was a hacked or homemade descrambler. We had one for a while. A cable guy sold them on the side.
Host: “You win! Your prize is 25 Professorland Fun Bux! I mean Disney Dollars!”
Contestant: “Oh.”
I have not seen Halloween Is Grinch Night in many years. Thanks for posting this commercial block.
Blackbeard's Ghost is hilarious!

Disney Channel- why has thou taken away the good shows of the 80s and 90s and hath replaced them with crappy shows that are not worth a dime?
I wonder the same thing.
cool
Rip Allan thick
Robin livley look so pretty back in 1989 ❤❤❤
Who were the Teen Celebrities in the Teen Win Lose or Draw bit seen in this video?

This week I'll see if I can find the tape this is on.
I found the tape, it's been four years!
Ok, so once the movie ends, it cuts right to a promo for Friendship in Vienna.
+RyGuy ah, okay. So the copy my Aunt Becky recorded was a later broadcast than October 14th. Thank you! :)
No, thank you ^ ^! Digging through tapes sort of revived my Disney Channel interest.
Soleil Moon Frye (Punky Brewster) and Brice Beckham (Mr. Belvedere) are the celebrities.
@Humanoidfreak yeah, Marc Price does kind of look like a younger Dan Akroyd (during his pre-Ghostbusters years).
wow, nowadays they wouldn't ever show that much of the show after it's over. people have ADD now, so shows cut to the next show in like 10 seconds.
Disney Channel 🇺🇲
the Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS.)
Pre-9/11 stuff.😎
The Dude in purple looks like a younger Dan Akroyd.
ahhhh the late 80s and the early 90s....when we truly cared about the hearing impaired
Nowadays they don't even stick the "CC" during the show, they just assuming you're going to have the captions on anyway.
ha true!

... Skippy ?
People paid extra for this?
Yes, our parents did!
Yes. This was back when The Disney Channel favored quality over quantity.
