I know a lot of people say it but thanks for all the knowledge you give to the community!! without it a lot of us would be nowhere near where we are today! I think I speak for most flowartists when I say thanks and we really appreciate everything you do for us!!
Great video. I really appreciate the fact that you took the time and effort it took to create this video. I completely agree with you that talking about money creates less anxiety about it, at least it does for me. I had the honour to meet you this summer in MN at a festival and I hope to see you more in the future. Keep up the good work and thanks for all your insight about this community, Cheers.
Really appreciate your videos and contribution to insight on the inner workings of aspects on the lifestyle with topics like this. Saying this as a member of this community for a while now. Keep up the awesome content man!
Very informative and helpful! Thank you Drex! I am considering sharing mine as well with a few factors that new artists dont consider.... what comes out of your pocket to make this happen. Photo shoots, video shoots, costs to have extra props available for workshops, travel expenses etc. Because I feel that performing has a lavish draw to it but it is mis construed how much income is actually pocketed each year from it and things I would have loved to be prepared for going into it. Did you make a video on this too? I would love to hear what you have to say as well coming from a more popular flow artist in this industry. :)
Thankyou for the insight. I've often wondered what an actual ball figure would be if I applied myself fulltime down the route. A next video that would be nice to check out is what your lifestyle is like. :D
Nobody would watch that...it's a lot of me sitting at a computer learning about social media marketing tactics, writing scripts, editing, and then slapping myself for forgetting to get out and spin until an hour before sunset ;)
I'm am nt a full time flowartist but I want to be this video was super helpful thank you so much please post more videos about things like this that could potentially help me and many others achieve their dreams
Honest discussion of income seems to be be seen as taboo.but it is so important for people to know how much they're likely to earn if they have a particular goal such as this. if people were more open I feel less people would get the short end of the stick and as such i commend you in doing this and thank you. Also, I really should look into getting a gig or two
Very brave video. I am keeping the flow arts as a hobby, but it is nice to see what full dedication can bring. Also, where I am (Germany) nobody ever talks about money and it is quite frustrating for me, as I also believe that information can only help others. I wish you lots of luck and I'm sure that by now you're doing even better ;)
Hey drex thanks for the info..Also i just wanted you to know that your videos are so helpful, ive learned so much from you and i think your tutorials are the best on youtube:) please keep them coming and know you've made a difference. Poi is a passion and a reason for living:D
Hey drex! Thanks for teaching me to spin poi! I know this is an older vidoe but my mon and her husband have a youtube channel of their own for woodworking and their biggest source of revenue is by far sponsorship. Idk if you have sponsors or not but they are a great way to boost income with youtube vidoes. Even non poi companies love to get their name/product out there! Something to consider if you haven't already. Have a good day!
Hey there, Joshua! I have indeed done sponsorships. They're rolled up into the "Other" category here. I know that it's a great source of income for a lot of other channels, but in the Flow Arts niche we only have a handful of companies and none of them are terribly profitable. I've done a few sponsored videos and pitched a few others and sadly, the capital just doesn't exist in the community for this.
This was really great info. I'm really surprised that patreon is your biggest income generator how do you differentiate what you offer there as opposed to your tutorials online? I have a patreon and a youtube but have no idea how to make them work for me. Your video was amazing honestly learning poi has made lockdown bearable I've really valued your lessons.
Just wanted to chime in and say that for the past 4 years I’ve managed to grow my income by about $5K/year…I’m hoping to finish out 2021 with $40K. Still not amazing but much closer to liveable.
How much “happiness” do flowartists make? A shit ton 😁
I know a lot of people say it but thanks for all the knowledge you give to the community!! without it a lot of us would be nowhere near where we are today! I think I speak for most flowartists when I say thanks and we really appreciate everything you do for us!!
I always wonder about such things, props to you for making this video.
This is actually quite informative and helpful thank you

One of my favorite videos of yours - I'm talking about this in an assignment for my masters degree right now!

How do you manage to pay your bills/rent in your home city with your income?
Did you get hit by the ad revenue fallouts from youtube this year?
