Great video. lead corresponds with Saturn in magical tradition. Saturn is associated with death and decay so it makes sense. Also that unknown script looks a lot like the Enochian language of John Dee.
"And you don't really want to be fooling around with underworld deities anyway, right?" Um, of course I do. I have shrine space for Hekate and Hermes in my ritual room, across from the shrine for my ancestors.
The "bitter waters" curse (the Sotah) in Numbers 5 is a good example of how the Bible treats magical curses. Basically it says, "If you suspect your wife of jealousy, have her ingest some dirt from the temple floor in a drink and we'll dissolve a curse in it for good measure, and if her belly swells up or her thigh decays then your suspicions are correct." The odds of these side symptoms occurring is basically zero so this is the Torah's way of saying, "Yeah those magical curses are nonsense but here's a placebo for those of you who still believe in them." Balaam's curse against Israel in Numbers 22-24 is another one.

The Charakteres remind me of spiritual sigils and the alphabets created by Heinrich Agrippa. I wonder if there is a correlation, or if they were merely inspired by the charakteres or some sort.
Lead was also associated with the planet Saturn which had the association of Death attached to it. So, other than your relatively excellent explanation, lead or the metal of death would be a good choice when performing magick that conjures dark or chthonic forces or otherwise maleficia. In another video, I believe it was either the one on the three wise men, frankincence, or demons in the toilet, a picture of a metalic charm invoking the Lord for protection was shown. It appeared to be gold though I would imagine it was a lesser valued metal that may have been common for use. Gold was the metal of Sol or the Sun which depending on what you read or take it as, implies health, strength, good luck/fortune, and protection.
Aluminum can would work too its cheap, disposable, weak and easily acquired. It also fits all the other traits required like easy to put symbols into and rollable
This is so simple. We used to (1000 years ago) to cut the head of a horse, put it on a stake and point it in the direction of our enemy. It is called "en nidstang" (spite or malice pole?). The idea was that it would cause unrest between the members of the enemys household and someone would be hurt or killed. But if the enemy took great care to behave well then the pole might litterally fall back and hurt me.
Abracadabra is based on an old spell in which people would write in an inverted triangle on paper the words 'abracadabra' meaning 'I diminish the thing' and take off one end letter each as they went down to the tip/bottom and leaving just the A, then sending the paper down the river. This was generally done to get rid of illness.

Hello there and thank you for such an interesting video. As someone who has studied spells and curses for many years, I just thought you'd like to know that you DIDN'T actually curse your brother. The wording you chose to address the "theft of GI Joes" was vague and devoid of real intent - I doubt that the Fates, or Hermes, or any other deity would bother with such a formulation :) In the end, it made a great video for the sake of demonstration. Funny that we associate cursed, pinned and nailed items such as dolls with Voudon Gnosis or a Boku's wayward practices in various Voodoo sects, but they in fact have less of an importance than you'd think in those sects and have their origins in a less exotic Europe. Either way, I don't think anyone's name was stated forwards (or backwards) and there was a lack of intention so its fine. I find it bizarre that Hermes would ever be invoked in a spell of such antagonism. A psychopomp that is a guard and messenger at best, trickster at worst, (hmm, an invisibility spell on dangerous travels would be apt). I think the original person was chancing his arm....for the intention of the spell, Hermes is actually not an appropriate spirit to call upon considering his "specialities." Mind you, doing such rituals can invoke any spirit that may call itself Hermes without it being the "real deal." Lower shapeshifting spirits of mal intent have been known to do this in about ever culture across the globe for millennia though.
It is possible that this spell is invoking Hermes Trismegistus, who was believed to be a powerful magician back in antiquity. I'm quoting a curse tablet found on Acrocorinth in the ancient city of Corinth.
Thrice Blessed Hermes, the personality coloured in that incarnation, in theory, would be even less likely to entertain such a request despite his powers. The nature doesn't fit with hermetic teachings. It reminds me when someone here in the UK writes to the Queen of England or Prince Charles and requests them to help intervene in a domestic dispute, (they have actually replied in a letter, but declined before. I have even done it myself for a friend out of curiosity. They replied but declined :D) You can do it, but...yeah. Good luck. :D
I did a bit of research, and it seems that Hermes was sometimes associated with the underworld. So this probably isn't Trismegistus on second thought. The epithet "of the Underworld" may be a personality of Hermes that the curser was invoking. Remember some Roman and Greek deities had several cult "personalities" like Fortuna Redux and Fortuna-Isis...although they are both "Fortuna," they were worshipped in different cults.
I'd have to agree w/you that Hermes is the least likely diety to be invoked for a spell of this nature. Also I believe that most people in anchient times that created these lead scrolls werent very magickly astute & certain half understood formulae were orally handed down to them which only became more & more garbled. Ive seen books where the Gnostic versions followed a similar formulae but invoked a diety propper to the spell ( Yaldaboath in the gnostic example , however that raises the question of why a gnostic would be dealing w/that diety)
