I’m 85, always love music. Sang in churches, weddings and just anytime I was ask. I had no formal training, I just love music. Music brings people of all nations together. This young man has a gift like I have never heard. I listen to him everyday any place I can find him. Love watching the expressions on people’s faces. It make my day. O yes, he has brought me to tears.
Now you can compare the same song performed by a Russian singer - Vitas. This song Opera 2 was actually Vitas’s song when he was younger. Vitas is also popular in China as well as Dimash. Look for Vitas Opera 2
I think the thing with Dimash is that at first some people think of him as spectacle. But he's so much more than that. If you think about it having a 6 octave range how boring would it be to just sing really typical songs all the time. I see it as him arranging his songs as like a choir, with each section of the choir e.g. baritone, tenor, alto, soprano so even with variations in pitch it's just like a different section of the choir taking over the melody line. If you get chance to watch a concert of his you'll get more of an idea of him I think. And because he is trained in both classical and contemporary styles it allows this beautiful "neoclassical" as he's described it before, style to emerge. Sure there are some songs that are pure pop or indeed pure opera. You'd be surprised how easily even his opera stuff will actually draw you in. I started out as purely listening to metal and rock and as I got older I branched out into all kinds of genres everything from edm to classical to ska anything. So Dimash not only allows me to enjoy all the genres I love at once but his voice is beautiful throughout his entire range which to me is unique. Usually I find there are certain parts of singers voices I prefer but with him I don't care which octave he picks it's all beautiful. Thank you again for a lovely reaction. As others have said he was really early in his English practice for show must go on but Brian May liked it so hey. I personally don't mind pronunciation "issues" cause being British we have different accents every 10miles down the road. I find it confusing when people focus so much on accent as though everyone who speaks English for example must speak what they view as "the Queen's English"- which isn't even how she speaks haha. Anyway the medley with the three other singers gives you 4 queen songs (snippets) and you can hear his more rocky voice. Personally I love the show must go on, Dimash's version. I grew up listening to Queen and honestly it's one of the best covers I've heard . Even with all the variation to it he manages to keep that desperation and power that Freddie put into it. And considering Freddie mixed a lot of operatic techniques in with his singing I think he'd have loved it too TBH. I agree with you about his "genre". It is Dimash genre. No fencing him into one particular form. I think that is one of the things I appreciate the most about him. So many musicians allow the music industry to control their creativity that most music has become boring. I get so sick of hearing the same sound. Thanks to Dimash I enjoy music again.

For Dimash that was not opera. Opera is Ogni Pietra written just for him because he can do both a low baritone and high soprano. No need to hire two opera singers with Dimash in the house. If you choose to do Ogni Pietra, do the one from Arnau. Do Show Must Go On first since it was one year before Hello. He does mispronounce some of the English words in Show Must Go on but he was just learning English. There is a marked difference in Hello and his current English songs. Still it is an amazing vocal performance.

For a western guy the story behind "Opera 2" is pretty much obscured. Roughly about 10 years ago, the Russian singer Vitas sang this song. It was OK for the current pop-culture, but went revered in China. Asian people loved Vitas for his high notes. (The comparison between Dimash and Vitas I leave for you to decide). And now they hear it from the Voice Master... it's really hard to put into words. Time and emotion mix and the feeling is overwhelming.

You're right, you do become a little desensitized to his amazingness! But like you said, it's still sensational what he's doing. And actually every song shows something different. If you follow the episodes of Singer you'll watch Queen's The Show Must Go On. His English isn't great, but he still kills it!
This was written by Russian singer Vitas to show off his range. It was a hit in China when it came out, so Dimash sang it and modulated it a couple of times more than Vitas had. The judges of this competition are the 500 Chinese in the audience, and he won this episode. The next song is "The Show Must Go On" by Queen (more up your alley). It's good to keep in mind that for this competition he had to learn the English songs phonetically because he only really knew a few phrases in English and Chinese at that time.

He does mispronounce some of the English words in Show Must Go on but he was just learning English. There is a marked difference in Hello and his current English songs. Still it is an amazing vocal performance.

He is making some pretty 'extreme' music and breaking Music impossibility and all rules with his unbelievable vocal techniques and his 6 octaves. He is a God of EXTREME VOCALS. There are emotional performances, technically perfect performances and entertaining performances. Dimash combine all three of them and it makes it as powerful as a nuclear bomb. He is the biggest WOW factor on this planet.

For a western guy the story behind "Opera 2" is pretty much obscured. Roughly about 10 years ago, the Russian singer Vitas sang this song. It was OK for the current pop-culture, but went revered in China. Asian people loved Vitas for his high notes. (The comparison between Dimash and Vitas I leave for you to decide).
And now they hear it from the Voice Master... it's really hard to put into words. Time and emotion mix and the feeling is overwhelming.
Not to forget that Dimash outdid Vitas by two additional key changes 😁

Liked your reaction. The best way is to follow Dimash is in order on the singer 2017. I think he did 14 performances on the singer series. Then move on to his concert performances. That way you will appreciate how much he has grown over the past couple of years. Doesn't really matter what order you the songs in, the are all great anyway. Regards Erich

You're right, you do become a little desensitized to his amazingness! But like you said, it's still sensational what he's doing. And actually every song shows something different. If you follow the episodes of Singer you'll watch Queen's The Show Must Go On. His English isn't great, but he still kills it!
This was written by Russian singer Vitas to show off his range. It was a hit in China when it came out, so Dimash sang it and modulated it a couple of times more than Vitas had. The judges of this competition are the 500 Chinese in the audience, and he won this episode. The next song is "The Show Must Go On" by Queen (more up your alley). It's good to keep in mind that for this competition he had to learn the English songs phonetically because he only really knew a few phrases in English and Chinese at that time.

This is a very simple song (music and words). ) But his vocalism is gorgeous. Text in Russian, which Dimash owns at the native level. The song is known in China. The organizers of the competition wanted Dimash to sing it.
