Ian Hubert does this as well. There's a Blender conf talk by him showing this technique. Much faster than modelling things in detail if they don't amount to anything but than background.
Great video!! I too made McDonalds. But, I made mine in a program called 3D builder. I made it as a recreation of a McDonalds that used to be in my neighborhood.
9:00 --- I believe this issue might be because of a mixture of two factors: 1) By cutting faces arbitrarily, you are creating "N-gons", or faces that have more than 3 (tris) or 4 (quads) vertices. When your computer renders shapes, it has to split them into triangles first. I suspect that blender does this with a kind of "hidden geometry" that will nevertheless impact your modifiers! Long story short, try to keep your faces at 3-4 vertices max! 2) Some of these N-gons might be concave --- basically like the letter 'c', where there is empty space inside of the shape. That will *definitely* interfere with any modifiers! I hope that helps!
Very neat program, i wonder if this program would also be good for modeling things such as vehicles such as cars, motorcycles, planes and other types of vehicles, characters, items and all other various things as well? I wonder if this would also be good for game development as well?
Maybe the subdivision surface modifier gets confused with with faces with more than tris or quad faces. I've had shading issues in the past where I've had to se the knife tool to connect vertices on lines that have multiple points.
Your video is really good. I'm curious why changing the default color texture to concrete at 17:02 doesn't change it to gray concrete. when i work The base color is applied to the concrete, changing the color of the wall to concrete. Of course I followed what you did.
hi @luck90 thank you for watching the video, I understand how it feels not to achieve what you want to happen in your edits. Anyway, a lot of us commit mistake when it comes to applying multiple texture on a single object. This is a bit tricky I know, and one common mistake is not duplicating the material slot to create an independent material. Make sure to hit the add new material icon before assigning the new texture to the object. Hope this solves your problem bro.
@@enriquedalton thank you for explaining I tried everything as described, but the problem may be that the Blender version is different (the version I use is 4.0). If you apply a concrete image to an image texture linked to a base color, it will inevitably turn into concrete. So I changed my method a little bit. I completed it. I studied a lot with good videos.
